I will admit it I went to a MM gig a couple of years ago and ended up missing half the gig because I fell asleep! I couldn't stand the barrage of slap and pop anymore. I woke up twice once he started playing the clarinet and the other when he played some of Luther Vandross's stuff and the public started singing along to it. I grew bored of his sound and technique to me is all the same and with no quirkiness. I still like some of his old stuff though. As for JB I agree that his last efforts haven't been good at all, I think he is trying too much to be a soloist and not a bassist and that is where he is lost. I love the stuff he did in fusion but not much the present stuff.

Having read one more "Jeff is a douche" post it makes me really sad, you know why because I met Jeff twice (one in NY and another back in my motherland) and he was the most reachable and nicest of guys, we even were joking about what people says of him! Anyway JB comments are oriented to those guys who want to become professionals like Nathan East, Lee Sklar people who want to play professionally and not only one genre of music. One of the points Jeff made the time we talked was that once you know what you're playing your speed increases because you know where you are going on the fingerboard. Another person said that JB played 3 notes in SB's bass and then gave it back, well he actually played something (in reality he was just a bit of tune) and gave it back but the point he made was that he was able to play that unlined fretless because he knew were the notes are, that's why he said give me one night (I think it was). regarding Metronomes JB states clearly that they are not going to give you time and he is right, he told me that the metronome is only good to learn how to subdivide and if you want to get good timing you should be better of practicing with a drum machine. I guess that the main problem with Jeff is that he doesn't like to spoon feed people but let them discover things by themselves. Rich if you can get your hand on Alan Holdsworth "Water on the brain" to me that's Jeff's best solo ever. Just my 2p.

That is an old Yamaha BB those are really great basses, I always wanted one of those.

I would try the SeA-2 it bring the bass and treble in a concentric pot. I have one in my Encore P copy "Dr. Evil" and sounds very nice and clean. You can get them for £20 on evilBay.

Well my mate bought one from a fellow Basschatter and now he wants to add an extra cab. The question is how to connect both. The amps has 2 connections 1 XLR and 1 Speakon , I guess you connect one to the XLR and one to the Speakon but I just want to be sure I'm not going to fry the amp. Any help will be appreciated. Garry[/quote] There are only 2 bass players in Latin America that kept amusing musicians and those are Cachao and Carlitos del Puerto, those guys could play in the "One, behind it and before it without sweating. I had the pleasure of seeing both players and Cachao was better because Cachao had more musical knowledge. I even remember a video of him playing Madison Square Garden in which you can see Ron Carter taking notes, it was a joy so see a legend like Ron Carter not even blinking. R.I.P maestro.

Why don't you try Simon Merrick's website he is Basschatter and has a book with most of Jamiroquai's transcriptions. Very good book and a top bloke Mr. Simon (I think that's new nickname)
