1. only when I'm severely hung over and so exhausted I might as well be stoned.
2. I've heard that there is nothing remarkable about Marcus's jazz bass at all. Its very bog standard sounding even with the preamp mod.
3.
Oi tink de fingerboard is slab - just a strange angle photograph. If it were cambered the truss rod nut wouldn't intrude?
Oi dirnt know abaht protroodin' truss rods. I got a bass doc for dat so oi have. Just saw the curve an' taught it were odd.
4.
Pointless worrying about it... Tone is completely subjective and dependant upon the other instruments in the group and genre of music. Also just because one bass player can make a certain combination of instrument and amp sound good doesn't mean anyone else can.
and you didn't include the influence of acoustics either - both on stage and in the audience. Its a gamble at the best of times.
5. For those that aren't aware of the significance, Lee has a screensaver on his laptop featuring people he's met all flipping him 'the bird'. For the tour he just finished with James Taylor and Carole King, the sound guys marked his place on stage like this: (PS: These came off Lee's facebook profile)
6. Couldn't help but notice the fingerboard wasn't slab. Is this typical for a '61?

8. Best way is to buy a USB mixer/soundcard. They're not cheap though, even second hand but you will have independent control of each track after you record.
9.
Well yes. What's yours?
My opinion isn't important. I'm not likely to need one.
10. I've seen this quite a few times on Trademe before now.
11. Yours is just one opinion though. There's no accounting for taste.
12. They're very uncommon, where did you find it? The trem bar bit can be drilled out of the hole if its done carefully. You'll probably need to get one made but its not difficult. Get some stainless steel rod, cut and bend it to shape and tap the right thread on the end. Someone here might even be able to do it for you.
13. Its not important, just choose one.
14.
WHAT A BASS! Put me down for two... ;-)
LOL
15. Its not that important, just choose one.
16. Sure you don't need to edit that link?
17. How about a bolt on maple neck, an ash body, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder, mirror scratch plate and a badass bridge?
18. The pitch shifted signal is a little cheesy if the tone is set too trebly but in the middle of a band mix its hard to tell. You can also send the shifted signal into a separate distortion unit but I've not had very good results doing that with a keely modded Boss DS-1.
19. Yep I've done it. It sounded OK but more like a cheap late 70's amplifier. A bit woolly. If you have a decent spec laptop then get Native Instruments Guitar Kontrol. You'll have the best of both worlds then.
20.
MATAMP, or wait for the new Burman ( this could be a wait though, guitars come first ), Or as I have done, find a nice 70's SVT and be very content.
I wouldn't get too excited. Gregg didn't mention there are any recent developments when I asked him a couple of weeks ago.
21. Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ would get my vote, would be ideal for classic rock. Marshall VBA400 would be OK too.
22. I have one of these. Tempted?
23. Run the same question here maybe? http://www.ozbassforum.com/
24.
I also feel a bit of quilt or anger
Time to get out of bed then?
25. When people tell you that all the Monty Python is making their head hurt.
