1. have another bump. I've got two Neo212's and they're the best manufactured cab I've ever played.
2. I wish I could have made it, love his playing - like others have said, its so musical. Ah well...I'll have to make do with the youtube vids.
Functional design= Steinberger XL2A
Ned's suggested in one of the Steinberger World.com interviews that the L/XL bass may have been TOO small. Its definitely a minimalist design but hardly ergonomic. I love the Klein shape as well, its beautiful. Basses are literally like hens teeth and asking prices are around $4000-6000. I could make one though, I have all the bits at home apart from the body...
4. Cute idea but I think it would only work with guitar and bass rigs that were the same height on stage. Also, if you're going to raise the standards of lighting for your amp then it will also look weird if you don't do the same for back lighting the wall behind you, the drummer and the keyboardists (if you have one) just so there's some consistency...not as simple in execution as it appears.
Needs a "Torzal twist" neck, too!
Now that would be a thing...angled body, torzal twist and fan fretted with adjustable body wings like a Spalt. A thing that would look like someone had left it on a car dash in summer.
6. I found his playing entertaining for sure, just wish he'd focus more on the funk and less on the frenetics.

I'm not planning on buying one but any thoughts? Snake oil? I wish he'd play the instrument. I'm waiting for them to release fan fret models too...
8. er...make one?
9. Accept this is one of the risks of trading internationally and complete the sale in good faith with a minimum of complication?
10. What kind of difference did the electronics mods make?
11. Funky can mean a lot of different things from 70's Fender Jazz through to Ken Smith. Actually, there's a really nice Ken Smith 5 for sale for 900 quid. I think its outstanding value for money. 12. Really nice example Mike.

14.
a watt is a watt, but compression, different harmonics etc all give the illusion of it being louder. Also the difference between 150watts and 300watts isn't that huge
I think it would be better to talk about perceptions of loudness rather than watts, just to avoid confusion.
15.
That's what you call a committed bass player! Hehe
Hehe, from times when I was still looking for a sound that worked for me.
I'm really liking both the Cutlass 1 and 2 , and the pair of Modulus's . Have you still got them ?
I sold them all. The Cutlasses and the Modulus fretless had necks like bananas (common fault) and the Modulus fretted was a nice bass but lacked any warmth.
16. Yes cd_david, the same one
17.
I think most opinions on here seem that 300 Solid State watts are about the same as 100 valve watts.
I think most people would know that a watt is a watt regardless of the amp. Especially after Alex Clabers posts on the topic.

Bass ukeleles

Yeah it was, I just tried it in a shop so don't have the benefit of long term ownership like some on the forum. The bridge definitely needed looking at for intonation and action.
19. Here's a few from days when I had a sofa!

Bass ukeleles

Thats surprising also. The one I played couldn't even have been used for fun.
22. Had a go on one of these yesterday. It was truly terrible. Buy one and you will be totally disappointed. The intonation was shocking, absolutely impossible to tune up on open strings and play a note in tune. The E string was a non event.
23. That squared off neck joint reminded me that Vinny Fodera was working with Ken Smith for a while in the 80's. http://www.fodera.com/artists/wooten/book/bassexc.htm "In 1981, Fodera left Spector and formed an alliance with bassist/designer Ken Smith. Together, they opened a small shop in Brooklyn, New York, the same shop Fodera Guitars calls home today. Smith supplied the initial funding and, in return, Vinnie made him one custom bass per week. The arrangement continued long after Vinnie eventually bought the company from Smith in 1983. Vinnie Fodera essentially paid Ken Smith for the business with basses." So technically, if you bought a 81 to maybe 86 Smith, you'd be buying a Fodera...
24. Oh thats a nice bass. The 80's models are a bit growlier and punchier than the 90's ones.
Hi Andy, absolutely. Soap bars magic all the way in one of the most incredible luthier's work ever done.
Ken doesn't actually make the basses himself. He pays people to make them for him and then he quality checks.
25. Thanks for being here
