1. Was a cracker, played a beer festival in a pub with my main dep covers act, they had a dep drummer too who I've not played with in ages, so great to play with him again. Took my new Ashdown Hyperdrive pedal with me, very impressed with that, very good pedal at a good price. My parents and uncle came down as the pub's round the corner from my uncle's place and he took some good photos:
The GAS will never end my friend! But looking good at the moment Out of interest, how do you use the Lomenzo and Metaldrive, as without actually trying either i would have thought they may achieve similar things?
The intention was to use the Ashdown as an overdrive and the EBS as a distortion, but after gigging the Hyperdrive for the first time last night I didn't use the Metaldrive at all, in fairness the set-list didn't warrant the EBS, so I'll keep it for heavier songs but see it getting a lot less use. I'm really impressed with the Hyperdrive, a lot of pedal for the money and can definitely keep up with more expensive kit.

4.
So I'm toying with do I sell my Lakland Donald Dunn P and get this
I have a horrible feeeling that if I were to try one, I'd be doing the same thing
5. I'm playing with my main dep gig tomorrow night at The Plough in Dormansland, near East Grinstead. Always a good laugh these guys and I think there's a beer festival on at the pub too, which is a bonus.
6. Paypal's phone system is an Esheresque, labyrinthine nightmare, but, once you do get through to someone they are very helpful

New stuff day

Good day for my effects, the Diago gigman I ordered arrived today and I won an Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive for a bargain on Ebay, looking forward to that arriving to"complete" my effects board (for now). Just wanted to share, photies of the board will be up when I'm done ruining my knees sorting out the power cables for my Gigrig Generator
8. Saw this on Facebook, Alunah - a cracking female fronted doom metal band (Goatsnake, Sabbath, Vitus etc) are seeking a new permanent bassist; if I lived closer to Birmingham (and, if I'm honest, didn't have kids) would be seriously considering this - it's a great opportunity, check out the link below. http://www.alunah.co.uk/alunah-bassist-required.html
9.
Last night at my regular pub gig I used an old Carlsbro 200 watt 1x15 Pro Series cab, (with an old Hartke 3500 head)and it sounded great! Could n't believe how such badly thought of stuff could be so good really - usually use my GK1001RB with a BF Compact, and was amazed how close it was possible to get 'my tone' from a 'budget' setup. Love cheap gear that sounds good, and there's a lot of it about!
You get a very good bang to buck ratio with Hartke
10. I struggled to sell my Mayones, I think because the brand aren't very well known over here. If you're looking at this and aren't sure, best advice I can give is go try it: you won't be disappointed; the guy I sold mine to hadn't heard of them before, but after coming over to try it out, he left with it.
11. I remember reading somewhere spiders don't like low frequencies, which makes their choice of home a poor one, crank the bottom end, crank the volume and let rip for a few minutes I'd imagine the'd be off sharpish.
12. Dave bought my kick-drum mic, prompt payment, good communication througout, all went through as you'd want.
13. This gives me Ripper / tube amp GAS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_wzzq_uyXQ&feature=plpp
14. I like the idea of one bass per project - which is what I currently have: my Lakland Duck Dunn for dep work and as my general go-to bass and my G&L L2000 tuned down to D standard for my prog rock/metal studio project. Though the G&L does get taken out as a backup/Eb tuned bass for covers gigs.
15. I foolishly looked up some YouTube videos of a GT200 the other day and now have serious Matamp GAS, do I have the money or space for an enormous, heavy, all valve rig? Not in the slightest. Does this fact help? No. Edit: Amo, it was your video infact - that overdriven tone, just love it. Some really nice playing there too.
16. The drummer from my old metal band is looking to start a hardcore band, I've copied his Facebook post below. He is a superb drummer, one of the best I've played with, and certainly the best metal drummer I've played with.
I'm looking to start up a brand new, straight up Hardcore band. No Bullshit fringes or trends, just plain and straight to the point Hardcore. In the likes of (I hate name-dropping but): Terror, Madball, Cruel-hand, Backtrack, Earth Crisis (minus the hard-line politics), Down to nothing, Sick of it all, Born from pain etc. I need at least one guitarist who's not only competent, but has a good writing ability, (I'm good at writing drums and a decent structuralist but I can't play guitar), and also understands the scene, has their heart into it and isn't just a Metal player that can technically play it, but is going to get bored of not being able to shred for hours on end (though I don't want to put any limit on the song writing). This would be a Hardcore band that is authentic, but also all about purely playing hows for fun and pushing it as far as we want to, but again for the love of playing shows. If anyone knows of any like minded individuals, or if this sounds to be your cup of tea please pm. me. I can assure you I'm a bloody competent drummer lol
If you're interested drop me a line and I'll pass your details on, cheers.
17.
Thanks Graham a lovely offer, I have two at work though so i'll have to pass.
That's a pretty good reason GLWTS
18. Cool, not far from me then, give us a shout if you go ahead with it
19. Bit of a long shot, but can I interest you in a trade for the Showman for an AKG D112 microphone? It's a kick drum mic that's also great for bass cabs.
20. Just like the chap above, just bought some straplocks from Col, arrived quickly with no problems, good bloke. Cheers
21. Here I am at a big gig I did with a covers act, one of the medleys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90aVX1oPb4s
22.
Don't be shy.. Stick them up!
If I can work out how I will, here's some old pics from said band that were in my photobucket account - none of us had a digital camera back then, so these were taken on 35mm film and then scanned in Christ, I was skinny back then
23. 'mazing, are these for a Goldie Looking Chain tribute act?
24. I stumbled across some old recordings on my old computer a couple of months ago of the thrash / groove metal bandband I was in at uni, these were before we got out gigging as they were still labelled the original band name (Mutiny) before we realised it wasn't a very original one. We had gone out to a rehearsal hall somewhere in the Camridgeshire countryside that was attached to a pub and set up our amps and played to a 4-track with two mics and just recorded it as if it was a live set. It sounds surprisingly good 9 years later in a lo-fi kind of way - you can hear everything and I'm playing much better than I thought I used to (though not flawlessly) I've put the tracks on my phone and listen to them at work sometimes and they do make me somewhat nostalgic for playing in a metal band.
25. Hmmmm, I am up for having a go but I might see what my local guitar shop will charge to do it, they have a luthier and I trust them to do a decent job (part of the reason I'm so in-exerienced at set-ups)
