Squire MB-5

nice one mate. my first 5'er was a MB-5 and i miss it. mine was very light with a black metallic finish.
  2. Dimarzio Model J's. The best pickups ive ever had. Theyre split coil jazzes, so this means no buzz when using just one pup, also means you have more wiring options. They have adjustable poles to, so if you have a radiused set up the A + D string poles can be raised for a more even sound. All this with an awesome tone to boot. I regret selling mine to be honest. I only sold them to try out some MEC'S, which are good, but not as good as the model J's.
  3. some BC history right herrre good luck with the sale man.

  13.
What's this idea that if you burn bits of a bass it'll look aged and worn over time?
You have to dab it with a wet tea bag too, make it look even more aged
  14.
I'm 65 miles away (so prob a bit far) although pookus (basschatter) came for 1 lesson from Faversham. There are some guys in east London I think CHRKelly is there, also trinity college is there so probably a few players in that area.
Cheers Jake, yeah it is abit far. Ive got a friend at tonbridge music college, but he cant find anyone. Might try the music shops again.

  17.
That was quick to be honest I dont use the G that much & what I am more worried is it will end up like my sons 12 string guitar used 30 mins every 12 months + my wife allways tell me I have toooo many guitars / basses
Just file a nut down on one of the basses and see how it goes. It can be reversed. The cost of a new nut and new set of strings is alot less than a new bass (best to keep the wife happy)
  18.
Hi all my son keeps on telling me to buy a 5 string bass. As I have a SX P & a Squier P&J bass , I was wondering should I 1 buy a 5 string bass SX or Squier , Or 2 get a new nut for 1 of the basses file it to suit the bottom 5 of a 5 string set & tune to Bead.
depends on how much you'll miss the G and/or want to spend.
  19.
I completely agreed with you there until recently.....bought a 5 string to play with for the band......we only have a couple of drop tuned songs, but trying to play them in standard on a 5 proved a hell of a lot harder than playing it in drop tuning. So I still agree with you, but when your trying to follow your guitarists lightning fast drop tuned riffs it's just easier to tune drop tune
+1. Even when i had a 5'er i prefered to drop tune the E for faster songs. The best i could pull off in standard (BEADG) was 'slither', but that was tiring. My P-bass is tuned CFA#D# with (i think) D'Ads 50-110s.
  20. Im selling this for a friend so any specific questions about what it does might take a while to respond. # Groove music workstation (sequencer / sound module) with 64-voice sound engine. # 16MB of dance-oriented synth and drum instruments plus new sounds like sitar, siren, and many more. # Turntable Emulation provides real-time slider-based control over pitch / tempo and pattern cueing via Push and Hold buttons. # Graphical LCD and four assignable control knobs eliminate layered menus. # 240 new patterns covering popular styles like techno, house, hip-hop, and drum + char(39) + n + char(39) + bass. # Three independent, synchronizable effects processors and onboard Arpeggiator. # Grab switch with M-FX (including Isolator) for creating interesting rhythmic effects. # Powerful sequencer with improved TR-REC method for easily inputting rhythms, scales and chords. Details for it are here: http://www.roland.co.uk/other_catdet.asp?id=MC307 Hes after £140 plus p+p for it.

  22.
What did you use to drill? I'm thinking as I need to drill 13 holes and no more in the near future, I might just pick up a hand drill or one of them fake dremel's.
I just used a hand drill, but it has a spirit level/laser built in. But to be honest the screws arent that long, so eye-straight should be alright. Just hold the screw against the drill bit and use masking tape to mark off the depth (sorry if you already know this)
