  1. On thomann, Sandberg stainless strings were 31€ for a 5 strings set. Since the end of august the price rised to 39€ It means a 28% increase. I loved those strings but not at this price.
  2. As far as I am concerned (two ultra light) with the same "issue", the fingerboard of my TM5 (norway maple) has expended a bit making the thing more noticable. I don't live in a particularly humid region. Should it be the case, a wood specialiste told me one day taht a fingerboard that shrink or extend usualy mean a wood that has not been dried enough. This problem can't be put on buyer's responsability like Sandberg try to do it. The shop where I bought my bass, Music Store, simply refused to take it into warranty arguing that Sandberg will not take it and that it was probably my fault, storing the instrument in bad conditions.
  3. I sometimes encountered the reverse situation where the fingerboard was shrinking making the fret noticable from the side. But with my TM5, it was the first time I could feel the fret slots. I originaly thougt it was unintended but my TT5 has the same thing. In the end, I decided that they were too good instruments to let them go for such a detail that I can even feel when I'm playing. Could it be the PLEK process ?
  4. I've got a TM5 and a TT5, both super light. Are you talking about the feeling on the side of the fingerbord where you can feel fret slot ? Both of my basses have it but i t is a bit more pronounced on the TM5. I've contacted Sandberg about it but never get any answer. In fact, I've never get any answer to the different mails I sent to Sandberg. A bit diapointing. Away from that, two brilliant basses.
  5. Thanks @Binky_bass. I'm using Tecamp and Glockenklang amplification so I suppose that GR, from your opinion, should be in the same tone family. The effect powering alsos seems like a great idea. Could you elaborate a bit on how does it work ? Do you simply have to plug a multi-plug power cable or is it another proprietary solution ? Thanks
  6. Hello, Speaking about the GR bass amp, how would you describe the GR tone ? I have a first version Tecamp Puma 500 (powersoft module) that I'm no more confident with to play on my occasional big gigs. I would describe its tone as : big pillowy lows, very soft mids and realy clear and sparkling high ends. Would you say that the GR one 800 is in the same ball park and so would pair quite well with my Tecamp S212 classic ? Thanks PS : I'm aware that this is a AT cab thread but it seems that there is no official general GR bass thread.
  7. Played two relatively big gigs recently with only my Puma 500 and Barefaced Midget. One of my band mate was driving me back home so not enough place in his car for my Tecamp S212. The tone was OK for me, in my corner of the stage but my band mates complained after both gigs. I was not present and autoritative enough for those two big stages. So even if you have a PA, stage sound is also important and sometimes it contributes to the room sound also.
  8. Exactly how I use mine. Now, only wish would be to be able to record what I ear... the sound is so good.
  9. Thanks for the idea. No worry, I already have another solution to tune but I just find it weird that the waza air benefits from the audible tuner and not our bass version...
  10. The audible tuner is the only way for me to tune. I have another solution so it's not a big deal but still, I looked foward this function and was disapointed to see that it is present on the waza air and not on the bass version.
  11. It seems you're right. On this link, the differences between waza air and waza air bass https://rolandus.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406799368347-WAZA-AIR-WAZA-AIR-BASS-Difference-between-WAZA-AIR-and-WAZA-AIR-BASS For tuner it says built in in waza air and only via app for waza air bass. Very disapointing...
  12. Hello, I've just got one of those gems second hand. One question : the descriptions talk about a audio tuner included in the waza (not the one on BTS app). The owner manual don't speak about it and I can't find it. Is there realy a built in tuner ? Thanks
  13. I thought you were refering to the stock Glock pre and figured I had to make things clear.
  14. Hello, Just be aware that the passive tone knob only work in passive mode. The same pot, trebble knob, is used for acive treb control and passive tone. You can't have passive tone and active treb at the same time like on the Sadowsky preamp for instance.
  15. You're right. Only the stacked bass/treb version doesn't have the passive tone controle. All other version have it, two or three bands.
  16. Hello, Ihad the Glock pre installed in a Roscoe LG3005 and into a Capelli (french luthier). I realy love this pre very pillowy low end and cristall clear high ends. On the highest settings, the trebbles control almost acts like a "string renewer" in adding the zing and piano like tone that has gone with time. Never hear anything like that in any preamp I meet. I think that Glock also build Sandberg preamp. The general philosophy is the same but choosen frequencies are not totaly identical. The passive tone fonction is not as wide as a "traditional" tone knob but it adds some tone possibilities. Overall great preamp, simple and efficient.
  17. Hello, Obviously, the first that came to my mind was the Sandberg Super light. Plenty of bass for the money and a pretty "classic" tone with the TT or TM. My TT and TM5 are right at 3kg and well balanced. Alpine also makes some great "classic" instruments made in France and fairly light https://www.alpineguitar.fr/ Opinions about them are very high.
  18. Realy depends on taste. If your go to tone is the classic jazz bass tone, take the TT. If you prefer it quite modern and glassy, the TM is unbeatable.
  19. Hello, I've actualy got both at home. The TM5 sounds more "modern", not very JB like tone, even in single coil mode. You must be aware that it won't realy cop a JB tone or MM tone. It gets a sound of it own and what a sound ! The TT5 is closer to a JB, especialy in passive mode. I was supposed to sell the TM5 when I got the TT5 but I'm not so sure... the slap tone of the TM is very Henrik Linder like... modern, hifi, incredible. I also love the humbucker soloed with highends rolled off... think Jaco with much more autority and bass impact... To make it short, a TM is not a jazz bass but has realy got something special that a TT cannot get. Hope it helps and don't hesitate to search for my post in this topic, I thing I've posted a few viedo of my TM.
  20. Thanks for your return and sorry, I meant "in your experience", not "in your opinion".
  21. So to come back on my question, in your opinion, a 4x10 with downfiring port won't be a problem on stage or at home ? Thanks
  22. Are there some ultra light tuners that would fit a Sterling ?
  23. I've just taken a USA Sterling 5 out of it case yesterday. I wanted to take some pics to prepare its sale. Managing a 4.6kg bass on stage is a bit difficult for me these days. Unfortunatly, I've made the mistake of plugging it in... This damned thing just sound terrific. Violent and agressive with the switch towards the neck, glassy and airy with the switch at the opposit. Small body, very confortable JB like neck, the ergonomy is also very good. If I didn't have those stupid shoulder problems, this bass would be just fantastic in my funk/pop band. This tone can only put a big smile on the face.
  24. I used Prosteels 5 for years before the price has stupidly gone up. Honnestly, they were good strings but after triying others, the D'addario B string is just bad. I always thought that my WW streamer jazzman 5 had a week and boomy B string til the day I stopped using D'addario's and installed Sadowsky blue steel on it. I've done the same thing on a MM Sterling with the same result. A fantastic B string where it was just good enough with Prosteels.
  25. D'addario rounds price has crazily gone up a few years ago. My usual Prosteel 170-5 suddenly jumped from 17, 19 euro per set to a 25, 27 € and even 30€ at the moment on Thomann. Clearly, those strings were very good at 20€ but at 30€, no way. I switched to Sadowsky at the time and I'm actualy using Sandberg's. I still have a set of Labella (rx I think) that I have to test.
