1. Quite honnestly, after listening to the video, I'm surprised to find that eventualy, the TM can comes very close to that tone.
2. Indeed, my rear ported Tecamp S212 has never been a difficult cab to deal with.
3. Thanks Bill. By clarity I meant lows/bass clarity VS boomy low end. Rear ported cabs are often seen as a bit more difficult to place on stage so I guessed that a downfiring ported cab could be even worse.
4. Hello, In my quest of the lightest 4x10 cab, the FMC mini 410 has a good place. I'm only worriing about the downfiring port. Isn't it too boomy on wooden stage for instance ? In my representation of things, a port pointing to the floor is not a good thing to have for tone clarity. Unfortunatly, the smallest 4x10, AKA the mini, is built with downfiring port. Does some of you have some experience with that porting methode ? Thanks for your opinion.
5. Hello, My Sandy TM5 sl in action at Thursday gig. I'm not realy visible (behind the keyboard) but the tone can't be missed. Absolutly stunning sound IMHO. The pops just jump out, very snappy. My band mates just love it. https://fb.watch/9oQBRHad7W/ Enjoy.
6. Thanks for the reply. The big rig was out this week-end and strangely enough, while I still felt a difference in strings while playing, the videos recorded from the audience tells me that the sound was good and quite well balanced from string to string. Most of the time I use my TM5 in single coil mode, both pickups equal. I'll try to post a little bit of it as soon as possible.
7. Quite bad from my point of view. Sound level to loud on stage, a bad rumbling feedback in the monitors and a sound guy that kept asking me to turn down til the moment my band mates an I could barly hear the bass. Fortunatly, it didn't translate into the audience and people seemed very happy from the show. 9 pieces pop funk band with horns, drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and 2 singers. A big pub crowded with around 150 persons. Originaly, the gig was programmed on a outdoor stage but we were forced to make it indoor because of the rain and wind.
8. Thanks. I thought there was something excluding made in UK or EU article from all that mess.
9. Hello, Could someone clarify the point about article made in UK or EU ? Indeed, someone said that most musical industry articles are made abroad, but what about a bass that is made in Germany (Sandberg for instance) and would be sell by a UK forumer to a EU forumer ? Thanks gentlemen
10. Yes, for the moment I haven't tested it yet on the full Tecamp rig. It may well come from the little Barefaced Midget I used for that small place gig. Next week gig will clarify things on a big stage.
11. Thanks for the reply Dave. I'll try some regular gauge when those stock strings will be dead. I suppose that the nut can accepte regular gauge strings without any modification ? Thanks
12. Hello, A TM5 super light came to me recently. I understood thatCalifornia series came with Sandberg strings in gauge 040-128. I didn't notice it while playing alone at home but in rehersal and during my first gig with it, I noticed that D and G string sound quite lower in the mix than other strings. I can't realy define if it is a lower volume or a lack of bass frequencies on those two strings. In your experience, could it come from Sandberg strings or from the lighter gauge. I've always used a regular 045-130. Thanks for your opinion.
13. If ever you happen to planify a travel to France or know a trusty person that will come here, let me know.
14. Pretty much what I'm looking for... unfortunatly it seems that taxes and duties between UK and Europe are just prohibitive, especialy on second hand private sales.
15. Hello, Do you have an idea of the original weight (Duncan dual coil included) of this beauty ? Thanks
16. Hello, I know that Fod can be a bit on the heavy side so could you give the weight of this beauty ? Thanks
17.
Confirmed, it is ICEpower.
I've read nothing about this. Have you ask Glock ?
18. I don't even understand those speculation about a Icepower module. Glock never used them and choose to wait a few years after every other makers to lounch its first class D amp just because there were not realy happy with the technology at the time. I just suppose that the Steamhammer has the same Alc power module than the Blue Sky.
19. Thanks for the infos. The bass direct second hand cab seems to be from 2013.
20. Thanks IanA. Just a question, are there different versions of the 4x10 MNT ? VDK site says that the cab is 24kg and the bass direct cab is announced for 29kg. I also saw a dutch bass shop announcing its 4x10 mnt in stock at 27kg.
21.
I have the 210 and it is my 'forever' cab. Small, light, loud and beautifully made.
Thanks JohnR. A pair of those 210 mnt would be great too but would be at least 400€ more than the 4x10.
22. Thanks for your replies. I'll go back to Scott's video to hear the cabs. Other opinions on 10" equiped VDK cabs ? Thanks gentlemen
23.
Ended up getting a Vanderkley 410 combined with a Glockenklang Blue Sky. Sounds incredible. Thank you all for your comments.
Hello Brucethebassplayer1, After a few months, could you elaborate a bit more on your Glock/Vanderkley stack ? I've got a Blue soul and I'm thinking about adding a Vanderkley 4x10" to me arsenal. Thanks
24. Thanks IanA for the reply. “very deep low end” frightens me a bit. Is it still controlled low end or the kind that rumbles everywhere ? Did you have, by chance, the opportunity to try a Glock cab ? If not, I’ve read somewhere (Bowlu bass blog I think) that the Glock 4x10 is somehow close to the Bergantino HS410. I’ve played on big stages recently and felt that my usual gigging cab, a Tecamp 2x12, was not pushing enough air for the rest of the band. So I’d like to come back on the good old 4x10 but without sacrifying the portability of my 22kg Tecamp.
