1. Hi Marcus Have you played one? I loved mine...until i gigged it. Build quality etc was superb, and it looked the mutts (Rosewood/Blue LEDs/gold hardware etc). The trouble i found was getting a decent giggable tone without constantly tweaking the graphic. I also found the output far too hot (as did many other owners) and ended up having it modified to lower the output. If you do get one, get a 32" scale unless you have super long arms....... :-) Good luck bud, and hope you find one soon :-) G
2. Saw Mr Sambora last night @ Shepherd Bush. Not a mega fan, but enjoyed the gig and 'enjoyed'the constant guitar changes he made all the time (LP Junior to LP, then LP to 335, then 335 to Strat, them Strat to Tele etc - didn't really sound much difference from where i was standing. Bass player Curt Schneider used the same bass for the whole gig - (Fender P-Bass through an Ampeg stack) and sounded cracking - masses of low end as you would expect and complimented the 2/3 guitarists and 1/2 keys players (one dude swapped between guitars/keys). Great sound from where i was standing and he seems to be over his dependancy blips.
3. and you've have to play left handed....
4. ...at the end of a gig. Drunk, usually female (sorry ladies, but it's true), comes up Example 1 'Is that all??' (guest) 'Yes sorry' (us) 'can you just do one more' (guest) 'Really sorry, we've been playing for 2 1/2 hours and we've run out of time'(us) 'Come one, just one more...' (guest) 'Really sorry, but the venue/landlord has called time and we have to stop'(us) 'F*** sake, you mean you can;t play one more f'ing song??' (guest) 'Like i said, really sorry, we have to finish and pack away - did you enjoy the set'(us) 'not really i only got 'ere 20 minutes ago...etc...etc...' (guest) or Example 2 'Do you do any Rolling Stones'(guest) 'Yes, they are later in the set, stick around' (us) 'Ok'(guest) Later in the set when we've played probably 3 Stones songs 'Where's the Stones songs?'(guest) 'We've played 3 - did you enjoy them?'(us) 'Didn't hear them, was outside/In the Loo'(guest) 'Can you play them again?(guest) 'Sorry no, we've run out of time'(us) Which then leads to Example 1 again God i love gigs....i genuinely do, but there is always one....and there was tonight....and last week.......and the week before......
5. that looks cool - i had a str*t that colour.
6. You need a more understanding wife. :-)
7. My money is on the Yamaha.
8. If it's a project/a bit of fun and you can get the spare cheaply enough, why not - they are decent enough basses...but in my experience you may not get a good return on it if you then choose to sell (again, depending on how much you need to spend etc)
9. Everything in moderation is my view - if it fits the tune, then so be it.
10. Hi, where abouts are you based please?
11. I don't know too much about him, but Nick Beggs is going to be working with Rick Wakeman on some upcoming live dates in South America. I've never seen Nick do anything but Kajagoogoo stuff. so may trawl Youtube later to see his other stuff. According to the article on Ricks website, Lee P is off on tour with Captain Barlow.
12. Following a hand injury/rsi, i'll be playing part time with a pick now for some tunes so i'll be looking at the advice/links given above too.
13.
Most online/brick-and-mortar shops sell it for £319 with free shipping. So, I would say you're in the money.
Yep - and good service goes a long way with me. With so many music shops disappearing because they cannot compete with t'internet - i'd pay a wee bit more to know that id something goes wrong - i can just wander back in sort it.
14. It was up for £320 inc a gig bag. That includes 2 year warranty and a nice chat with the staff :-)
15. I'm thrilled with it. Really am. Can't wait to give it a proper outing through my amp tomorrow. Debating chrome covers for it...... :-)
16. Hi folks, grabbed myself a CV precision today. It is lush. It's like coming home. Great player, and sounds cracking. Only thing I may add is a Hipshot, which the shop has offered to order and fit at.a discount :-) very happy man :-) Will post pic later Cheers Graeme
17. Had a great experience in the Wunjo Bass shop today, great range of gear which is competitivly priced, and great, friendly and helpful staff. Ended up buying a Classic Vibe Precision. Highly recommended in my experience, thanks Wunjo.
18. slap is soooo last year. But i still do it...tastefully.
19. i like it. do we know cost yet?
20.
Searching for Bass utopia is a pointless task, as I've found out.
+1 for me too.
21. Like many others, i've been through my fair share of basses - but it has taught me what i ACTUALLY need for gigging purposes. I wouldn't part with my Warwick Corvette now, it's a great all rounder and plays and sounds like a bass twice its price. Only thing i am gassing for (and will keep this time) is a P Bass of some description (CV probably). I've been through the expensive/boutique/extended range thing and it didn't work for me personally. The only other thing i need to do is spend less time buying/selling/reading about basses, and play the damn things! Cheers Graeme
22.
Mind you at that sort of price it wouldn't be the end of the world to buy some decent pickups and swop them over !
True that, but never had that problem with other 'budget' basses (yamaha/squier etc)
23. sevenstring.org?
24. Cool bass (just looked at the JHS site) I had a Vintage EJM96 Series Jazz, loved everything but the badly micropohonic pickups which squeeled at gig volume - everything else about the bass was great given the cost (£165 new!) Rock on!
