1. oh yes, and Peavey Zodiac...dire dire bass. Gibson Ripper...one question...why?
2. Ibanez basses, never seen or played one with any wow factor. Anything Thunderbird shaped too. G&L basses too actually (same reason as Ibanez) I've woken up really grumpy so this thread is perfect.....
3. There's a nice one on Ebay being sold by serial bass churner Mr Clifton :-)
4. Classic Vibe is the way to go.....
5. The more i look at those pics, the more i want one. Be interested to hear the clips. Great bass.
6.
A cynic might comment , then , that if we want to respect of our peers we shouldn't do anything too popular or be too successful.
and a cynic might also say that 'Respect from our peers' doesn't pay the bills...
7. **SOLD PENDING** Hi folks New amp requirements mean i must sell off a couple of items, one of which is my lovely passive Corvette (serial number WPS-E ***********) Korean made (and very well made it is too), been gigged but well cared for (waxed etc - well set up too with 35-95 strings). One owner before me. Always kept in gig bag when not in use, has some very minor cosmetic 'rubs' on the body, but nothing worth noting. Usual Pro Series spec and it's a great versatile player. Looking for £395 (inc gigbag, straplocks and wax) cash on collection from Bromley, Kent or Central London collection (Moorgate/Barbican) or £415 posted (bank transfer - no paypal due to fees)- No Trades please

Neck: Bolt-On
Body: Bubinga
Scale Length: 34"(Long Scale)
Frets: 24 Jumbo Bronze (Extra Hard) (Width: 2,9 mm/Height: 1,3mm)
Tuners: Warwick
Just a Nut III
Pickups: Passive MEC J/J
Electronics: Passive MEC
Controls: Volume, Balance, Tone
Bridge: Warwick 2-Pieces
Warwick Security Locks
Hardware: Chrome
Warwick Red Label Strings: 035" - 95"
**SOLD PENDING**
8. Hi folks - will post pics when i can tomorrow, but am selling by Laney HC160 Bass combo. It's the older style black model and apart from some cosmetic dings (nothing major) and couple of missing plastic corners,is in great order. It's been well gigged and can hold its own against our bands PA. If you crank it up too much the speaker can get a little farty, but thats only when it's well cranked and the eq is very bass and mid loaded. Spec wise, here goes....normal and high input sockets, bass and treble controls, a 7 Band graphic EQ with middle controls and an "Enhance" Equalization Control to tune in the personal 'sweet spot' to suit your settings, switchable compressor with "On" and "Active" status lights, Switchable Limiter, XLR Direct Inject socket, Effects Loop, Tuner Output Socket and an Extension Speaker Output Socket (8ohms) enabling the addition of another speaker. This is now unused and needs to find a good home somewhere. Like i said, well used, but a great little amp [s]£70[/s] £60 collected from BR1 (Bromley, Kent) i think is the order of the day, what say you? :-) User manual here
9. That looks cool to me, although I'm sure I'm far too uncool to have heard of the band he's in.
10. My conclusion is that it's musicians that dislike the most covered tunes, cos we do about 60% of the OPs list and punters love them.
11. Depending on the type of gigs you do, it probably doesn't, but to me it's the same as the slapping debate. Some songs need a pick to sound authentic, whereas some need fingerstyle or slapping. Horses for courses in my book and I think most gigging bassist can switch between to suit. For the record, I love digging in with a pick on my p bass as much as I like rolling off the tone and thumping out some fingerstyle Motown vibes.
12. ...and PRB on drums has given the tunes a real kick.
13. Looking forward to seeing them at the Albert Hall. Great player.
14. I'm a recent convert to his playing and his tone, both of which love.
15. @crez5150 thats a lush bass. I couldn't cope with not having the volume control on full, I'm a bit odd like that. Agree also with other comment about how the bass hangs, as it didn't sit well on me personally, but that might have been due to my middle age spread :-) @TheGreek, thats a stunner too So come on Marcus, you've been saying for ages about getting one (I remember your posts on the old L42 web digest!) hurry up and get one! :-) Cheers Graeme
16. Agree DRH was great in the band with a great great voice.
17.
All the time. Fri night, they just got on with enjoying themselves, one pair, sorry, lady, in particular . Saturday night, 3 pissed up twenty somethings. How many times do you have to say, "No, we don't and won't do Oasis"!
Love the Oasis comment mate. Part of me sometimes think maybe we should do at least one oasis tune..then i remember i disliake them and that thought soon goes away. No offense to anyone who does like oasis, they just aren't my bag!
18. Hi Marcus Have you played one? I loved mine...until i gigged it. Build quality etc was superb, and it looked the mutts (Rosewood/Blue LEDs/gold hardware etc). The trouble i found was getting a decent giggable tone without constantly tweaking the graphic. I also found the output far too hot (as did many other owners) and ended up having it modified to lower the output. If you do get one, get a 32" scale unless you have super long arms....... :-) Good luck bud, and hope you find one soon :-) G
19. Saw Mr Sambora last night @ Shepherd Bush. Not a mega fan, but enjoyed the gig and 'enjoyed'the constant guitar changes he made all the time (LP Junior to LP, then LP to 335, then 335 to Strat, them Strat to Tele etc - didn't really sound much difference from where i was standing. Bass player Curt Schneider used the same bass for the whole gig - (Fender P-Bass through an Ampeg stack) and sounded cracking - masses of low end as you would expect and complimented the 2/3 guitarists and 1/2 keys players (one dude swapped between guitars/keys). Great sound from where i was standing and he seems to be over his dependancy blips.
20. and you've have to play left handed....
21. ...at the end of a gig. Drunk, usually female (sorry ladies, but it's true), comes up Example 1 'Is that all??' (guest) 'Yes sorry' (us) 'can you just do one more' (guest) 'Really sorry, we've been playing for 2 1/2 hours and we've run out of time'(us) 'Come one, just one more...' (guest) 'Really sorry, but the venue/landlord has called time and we have to stop'(us) 'F*** sake, you mean you can;t play one more f'ing song??' (guest) 'Like i said, really sorry, we have to finish and pack away - did you enjoy the set'(us) 'not really i only got 'ere 20 minutes ago...etc...etc...' (guest) or Example 2 'Do you do any Rolling Stones'(guest) 'Yes, they are later in the set, stick around' (us) 'Ok'(guest) Later in the set when we've played probably 3 Stones songs 'Where's the Stones songs?'(guest) 'We've played 3 - did you enjoy them?'(us) 'Didn't hear them, was outside/In the Loo'(guest) 'Can you play them again?(guest) 'Sorry no, we've run out of time'(us) Which then leads to Example 1 again God i love gigs....i genuinely do, but there is always one....and there was tonight....and last week.......and the week before......
