I've just recently had a new amp shipped from the US. The sender used the US Postal Service (which turned out to be cheaper than any other courier quote I'd been given). Once the package was with UK Customs they sent me a nice letter asking for the duty due and once it was paid I got a spanking new amp for about 60% of the same one over here. When I had tried to get a quote from the usual couriers I use over here, the general response was they might agree to do imports but it would cost a lot more to do this from the UK end. To give you some idea shipping quotes I got for the same item : to arrange and ship from the US end = $110 (£60), to arrange and ship from the UK end = £170. It seems the general rule is its easier to ship OUT of a country than IN. Anyway, more importantly....whats the bass?. Wheres the pics? New? Pre-loved? Good for metal?

Lots of good entries I agree :-) Anyone else having trouble loading Lowdown http://soundcloud.co...b/club-retro-75 ? I can get to the page but nothing plays I'll try again later as well.

Not sure if anyone's interested but I spotted this Jaydee Calibas 6 on Gumtree. I used to have the 5 string version and it was a great bass. This one seems to have a much better pedigree than mine though!
Does the cab have a high pass filter so you can connect a top cab? What are the dimensions and weight? Thanks
Hi, Dimensions are 652mm x 465mm x 423mm (25.7" x 18.3" x 16.7") and 55 lbs each. I originally bought them for when we do larger gigs. I paired them up with my other pair of identical bins for a gig at the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom last year as I thought we might need a bit more weight in the sound. They worked great.....too much in fact that I ended up taking them out and using only one set for a full 5 piece band & drums mic'd up! The cabs have a built in crossover of 12dB / octave low pass at 15Hz. In the manual it says "The TXD-115 includes an internal low-pass crossover network which filters high frequency signals from the bass driver when used in conjunction with two-way enclosures enabling a full range system to be powered from a single amplifier channel without the need for external electronic crossovers." You can come and hear them working if you like. Mike

Hi there from a Southerner (Aberdeen!!!). Welcome aboard the good ship Basschat. At this rate there might be enough people to get a local Bass Bash together

I've just seen them over the last couple of days. I like the looks of a couple of the designs on the website (http://www.rmiuk.biz/) and pricing doesnt seem too bad (depends on what you actually get though ) I get the feeling they are using eastern manufacturing whilst designing and finishing in the UK. There are some vids on YouTube

Pickup recomendations for a Warwick 5 string
Acebassmusic replied to Matt P's topic in Repairs and Technical
If you want to keep the pickups but dont like the rough look of them, try painting them with Hammerite or Japlac. These paints are usually hard wearing and fill in a lot of the scratches. Might be an option -

Party Started (Pink) and Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics)........we start with Part Started, go into Sweet Dreams......and then play both at the same time! Half the band singing one and half doing the other....it actually works

Sound dropping out... Can anyone help?
Acebassmusic replied to PeterSchofield's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've not really had chance to properly dissect the rig to have a massive look as I only notice it at gigs with the band as I don't practice all that loud.......
As well as all the points mentioned above, have the guitarist(s) changed their sounds / volumes? They could be masking your frequencies! Don’t forget to use the phrase “Oi you!…get out of my spectrum!” …lol -
I'm a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers don't ya know.....
Sorry.....the detail orientated pedant in me broke loose Good trait for an engineer I hear. Anyway....back on topic....I'm another IMechE engineer who missed that lecture and would be interested in understanding why.
