1. OK, I haven't seen a JV porn thread on here, so thought i'd start one for JV serial number basses. Here's my matched pair of 1st series export JV Basses, 1962 Precision & 1962 Jazz. The Jazz is believed to be a prototype, or one of the first, as it has some features not seen on post April '82 models. It also has the earliest known neck date of an export Fender JV Squier, 21st April 1982, and is featured on the 21 frets/JV official website. Common features on both; Exact same shaping and contours as the pre-CBS original necks and bodies, original blueprints were used Large Fender, small 'Squier Series' decal (Only seen on April/early May 1982 models) 'Slab' rosewood fingerboards Clay style dots 3-Tone sunburst Reverse, close thread tuners (Only seen on April/May 1982 versions) Nitro look tortoishell guards (Both are matched and look like cut from same sheet) Chrome covers Jazz has individual string mute assembly, and ground wire on top. They both play and sound amazing, the Jazz is the nicest sounding, and easiest to play bass, and neck i've ever played, without exception!! Anyway, enough of the anoraky stuff; here's a pic of the pair;
 2.
Claims it's a "rare 80's Fender Jazz plus V fretless..£800 http://www.preloved....ass-guitar.html
Don't know much about 80's fenders, but here's a similar one, regarding headstock shape, controls arrangement?? 3. Nice bass, Bravewoods are great, i have one. Good luck with the sale.
 4.
I personally think it's a fad but I've been proved wrong before.
Fender soon dropped the fanned frets thing in the 60's so who knows?? They're not my cup of tea at all, I'm very much a traditionalist when it comes to basses, and i haven't played one at all, and have no intention of trying them, although if i saw one in a shop, i would definitely give it a go, purely for curiosity sake. But from what i've read, they appear to be a bit like Volvo's, in the way that most people scoff at them, but most people who buy one, go on to buy, and play nothing else, and spend the rest of their time trying to get everyone else to buy one, so they must have something about them. If i ever catch up with one and play it, i'll be sure to make a comment, but even if its the best thing i've ever played, i wont buy one, because they look shocking! As others have said, wouldn't it be a dull world if we all played Precisions (It might have a sweeter sound though!!) Tongue firmly in cheek!!
 5.
Chill with the name calling and lies. I do not and have never worn sunglasses ever. I don't know why all the hate. It's funny how guys talk a bunch of bs about a player while hiding behind a screen name.
I've just read this entire thread, and have to say, some comments are rather inappropriate. I don't like this particular style of playing, and as you will see from my own arsenal, i am mortified at the horrendous monstrocity of the 'strung coffee table' being played, but i don't get the personal attack on the guy. Unfair, and uncalled for if you ask me, which of course no-body did, but i don't see the need to make personal comments about an individual who is just playing his weapon of choice.
 6.
I reckon you are spot on there, between £3500 and £4000
First one I've seen for sale (Apologies if this has been done before); Your price was pretty good! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Custom-Shop-Limited-Adam-Clayton-Signature-Precision-P-Bass-Gold-Sparkle-/190623718865?pt=Guitar&hash=item2c620f1dd1#ht_4805wt_1185
 7.
Next up http://www.ebay.co.u...a#ht_500wt_1219 £400 for a trashed neck....
In fairness (By the way, I agree with everyone on the '58 body....highly dubious!), this Jazz neck is not dubious, its just damaged. If you have a little bit of skill, and the right kit, you could probably repair this, and for £250, its probably worth it. I don't have the materials or the ability, so to me its worthless, but i reckon for the seller its worth a punt at £250. Nothing dubious here!
 8.
I had already tried Fareast but they have nothing like the jazz I want.
Whats the Jazz you want??
 9.
I'm sorry - I'm sure it plays like a dream, but I don't like the shape, I don't like natural wood finishes, I don't like P/J pickup configurations, I don't like 2+2 tuner headstocks and it's got too many switches!
I agree entirely, except if it has the same tone Victor Wooten gets, then I'd doubt it plays like a dream either!!!
 10.
Yeah, but which one: '63 P '72 P '73 J '78 J '79 PJ '59 J replica build by Wes Steed (has a Fender neck & decal so just looks like a heavily relic'd J) Too many choices
I would go with the '73 Jazz, probably the most versatile, and also very cool!!!
 11.
Fender! Precision, in particular. Everything I don't like about basses, bass-playing and bass players is represented by Fodera. *Puts on crash helmet, girds loins and hides in shed*
+1. This is wanted i wanted to say, but feared the backlash!!!
 12.
beware, parcel force insurance small print does not cover musical instruments as I recall.
That's handy then?!? Thanks for the warning!
 13.
It's probably still worth giving Parcelforce a call. When I've sent stuff over from France, I use a French company called GLS. They have a reciprocal arrangement with Parcelforce and I'd guess that Parcelforce will have a similar arrangement with a German courrier. I've had no problems. If you want a more recognised international outfit, then UPS but they're likely to be slightly more expensive. As with everything, you get what you pay for.
Thanks very much, i'll definitely try them too.
 14.
I just sold a really nice P bass to someone in Belgium. Super smooth deal. I used parcel2go.com. The actual courier was UPS. They collected it and left me with the tracking number and I tracked it all the way to his front door. Cost was approx £30 uninsured and £70 insured. Have a look on their website for an accurate quote. I would def recommend them
Thats brilliant, thanks very much, i'll check it out.
 15. Some help needed! Despite regularly buying basses from both Europe and the US, I've never shipped anything myself outside the UK. I'm currently selling a bass, and had an enquiry from Germany, and they've asked how much for insured shipping. Not only do i have no idea about cost, but i wouldnt know the best company to use. I'm guessing Parcelforce would be pricey, especially with insurance. Any good couriers out there who do Europe, and if so, how do they collect. The courier i use in the UK, only does UK Anyone with any experience, good or bad?? Thanks in advance.
 16.
The bass is now sold.
Nice one, I'm amazed it lasted that long!! Good work fella.
 17.
This is now back on ebay .................... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item43acbf2888 .................the seller is now saying its a Fender Japan neck, still not convinced
The only 'Fender' part of this is the fake decal !!
 18.
Beautiful bass! Normally I wouldn't even look at a Fender without a maple neck / fretboard / headstock...but I'd play this one every night of the week!
Isn't that a rosewood board you're playing on your avatar??
