1.
Here's one of my '64s.
Lovely. My favourite Fender Custom Colour, Burgundy Mist, stunning!! Do you have a matching Jazz you want to sell???
 2.
A quick question as you appear to have the basses to answer it! You have the three Precisions that represent the full transition from the original '52/slab to the '58 that we know now recognise as the standard P-Bass. I'm assuming the '52 has a slab body, the '56 a tummy/forearm contour and the '58 it pretty much the P-Bass that everyone knows. Headstock shape and stomach/forearm routing aside, are the body shapes all identical? It's been something that I've wanted to know for a while, but felt stupid asking...the shapes of the scratchplate(s)/control plates kind of mask what's going on with the body shape. Cheers P
Not a stupid question at all, and something that is anything but obvious. The simple answer is yes, the outside shape of the body is the same on all 3 models. The bakelite black pickguards on the recently contoured '54 Precisions were trimmed slightly, to allow for the reduction in 'finished' body size, although this is far too slight to be obvious to the eye. This is also why pickguards from the Sting reissues do not fit the japanese slab body '51 reissues. The difference is quite subtle, about 7mm all the way round. The first of the contour bodies had a much sharper contour on the upper part of the body (Where the forearm lays), and is quite stark and angular (This appears on the first 2-3 months of the transition), after this, they made the contour much softer, once they had the stratocaster in production, and realised the smoother contour was far more comfortable, and pleasing on the eye! The '58 body shape is identical to the '56, with regards to contours and overall size, the only difference here, is the routing for the split coil pickup and the different, elongated control cavity, everything else is the same. Hope this helps Here's my '56 & '58; Happy New Year.
 3. My fave bass, new pic taken today.
 4. Back-in-the-uk-style-bump...and of course, its raining!!!
 5. Final bump before I leave Madrid to head back home to the UK, so it´s more of a Bumpio!
 6.
Here's mine - A 2000 Les Paul Standard Bass:
I love that. Probably the only Gibson bass I could ever be pursuaded to buy, (having dabbled in Gibboland enough not to try again), a honeyburst les paul standard, stunning, scarce model in the UK too. Nice one.
 7.
Maybe Maple too , why ?
I have this for sale/trade? 8. You still looking for Rosewood boards only??
 9. I actually find NKR to be very reasonable, far more than Denmark Street Vintage dealers. When NKR get a genuine rare guitar (I dont mean a ´65 strat, or a ´64 Precision), like a ´58 Les Paul, a ´52 Precision, a ´59 ES335, or a ´64 4001S, then tend to market it at top dollar, because there´s every chance they will sell it, as the rarest birds out there will always generate interest, and top money, especially if all original. On the other hand though, you can pick up more ´regular´vintage gear for very sensible prices, certainly when compared to V&R. They are also very straight talking when it comes to haggling. I´ve got some pretty reasonable discounts before down there. By the way, i have absolutely no affiliation with the shop (And no, the owner is a different Rick , before anyone asks!), but i have bought a few pieces from them in the past. Although i know opinions are purely based on personal experience. BTW, the ´59 EB2 is not open to offers.....I´ve tried!! Its actually a mid ´60 Bass, no case. Stunning condition though, I´m just fussy,a nd want it with a case.
 10.
Looks nice. What's the weight?
Better late than never, its actually around 8lbs, not 10 as i suggested earlier, and back on the market.
 11. Very nice Precison, thats probably the most worn body i've seen!!, I bet it could tell a few stories! What is it? '62?? I have a few of my own, let me know if you want me to post any pics (See below) BTW, are you selling it?
 12. I have a Fender tweed version, which to be honest, apart from the badge, is probably built exactly the same. Its built very well, and i move it around, it shows no sign of wear at all, latches are strong etc, for the price of the ones on your link, i reckon theyre an absolute steal, and well worth a punt! Here's my 3 guitar version, i also have a 7 guitar version, which is identical (Except bigger ), both are built very sturdily.
 13.
Btw, that trio-pic has me gasping for air.
Here's another trio, my 56's...
 14. OK, final bump before christmas, and then it go's back on the rack.
 15.
Looks nice. What's the weight?
Its light, from memory its a little under 10lbs, but i'll check this weekend, and let you know. Thanks for the interest. Rick.
 16.
Oooh, how I wish I had the readies for this. The '58 is the all time nicest P IMO. Btw, that trio-pic has me gasping for air. Free bump!
Thanks BB, i agree, the 3TSB/Maple/Gold combo is one of Leo's finest ever. Cheers.
 17.
Indeed it does!
Now you've sold the fretless, do you still fancy a '58 Relic??
 18. 'Finally-a-victory-for-Chelsea' style, celebratory BUMP!!!
 19. Yes, that's sort of my impression of them too, but I thought they were 34" scale? Maybe they are 34" actually, i guess i meant the short, stubby 15 fret neck, having never actually played one, the oddity of them has always made me curious, one day i'll find one somewhere, have a plonk, and be grateful i didnt spend £2k+ on one!!! Your '73 does like nice, i've very partial to a sunburst/rosewood/tort combo, i just dont get on playing them, i found it to be an expensive way of making a slide sound better, but then i guess that shows my limited talent!! Sell the '73, and buy my '58, that sounds like a plan!!
 20.
Another visitor to your web site Rick and most enjoyable it was too.
Thanks Gary, between me and you, my 10 year old Son showed me how to do it, after i saw him creating one, needless to say, i felt pretty old, and past it, kids today have tooo much knowledge!! It's quite an amateur start though, more to come hopefully!
 21.
Completely off topic, for which I apologise, but I love the Bass V on your website! Did you used to own it? I have always wanted one, but not sure why
Just noticed you have a Fretless Precision, after my previous reply! To add to that, i think my lack of musical ability with the instrument I love, was the main factor in me not quite knowing what to do with it, rather than the instrument itself! I'll get my coat. TAXI !!!!!
 22.
Completely off topic, for which I apologise, but I love the Bass V on your website! Did you used to own it? I have always wanted one, but not sure why
Firstly, congratulations, i think you're the first, and probably last person to view my rather lame attempt at showcasing some of my collection!! The Bass V is not one of mine, although like you, I've always fancied one, for curiosity value only i suspect. I think 5 mins after buying it, I'd probably question what possessed me (I had the same raection with a fretless, wanted one for years, and finally bought one, only to realise that it was the most limited bass I'd ever picked up, let alone bought!). They are lovely looking instruments though, and the shortscale makes it interesting, one day maybe, it would have to be a dot neck sunburst though. I nearly bought one from new york a few years ago, but it didnt have the impossible to find bridge cover or case, and i'm a bit obsessed with things being 'right', so passed on it, was great value though. Thanks again for looking at the site, i must get the rest of my gear on there!!
