1. My Shuker P is incredible, so much better than any F I've tried. Love it so much I want a fretless PJ to match Orange amps (valve) and cabs Obbm cables Yorkshire pudding
2. [s]For sale, my spectacular 90s Stingray fretless! The serial number dates the bass to 1994 (yes it's 'that' age when the bridge had the string mutes!). It was originally a fretted bass but a previous owner has fitted the bass with a 1997 EBMM fretless neck. The two have married perfectly and have produced a magnificent bass. The neck is constructed from a rather nice piece of birdseye maple as were most Musicman basses in the 90s, the fingerboard is, as expected, Pau Ferro as all MM fretless basses. Condition wise this beauty is virtually pristine with only a minor scuff under the forearm and a couple of tiny marks on the end of the headstock, I've tried to capture these in the pics (see below). Currently fitted with schaller strap lock buttons, comes with its original hardshell Musicman case and is currently fitted with La'Bella 45-105 flat wound strings. I can also happily leave the minotaur leather strap in the case as it looks especially dapper with the bass Weight 9.8lb. I bought it because I couldn't afford a Wal fretless and it really does sound and feel superb, nails 'the Pino' and several other fretless tones with ease. Am only selling because the active-ness of the sound doesn't quite work with the deep passive roundness of my main Shuker P bass for the band so I'm wanting to have a fretless PJ built to match Photos... Most likely no trades as I need cashish to fund my fretless build [/s]
3. This still here and whereabouts in UK are you?
4. Save rehomed my lovely NXT4 for me in a really easy, low stress deal. Lovely guy, great bandmates, excellent bc'er. Highly recommended
5.
Hi Andy What gauge are the strings please? Thanks
Hiya matey, As Hutton rightly said above, 43-56-70-100 http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/strings-c1/bass-guitar-strings-sets-c34/thomastik-4-string-jf364-jazz-stainless-flatwound-x-long-scale-bass-strings-p845/s887?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=thomastik-infeld-thomastik-4-string-jf364-jazz-stainless-flatwound-x-l-thomjf364&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&gclid=Cj0KEQjwz-i3BRDtn53Z5Z7t4PUBEiQA23q2AG3cdlKf5VsNJ46Q2b-gmiBM3-6c8AIXP4Zpe9Q3zykaAn_Y8P8HAQ
6. [s]For sale, the set of Rotosound superb strings that were on my db when I got it. They were new on when I bought it and while they look, sound and feel really lovely for pizz playing I need to be able to play arco at times too so have switched them for a set of spiro weichs. The E and A are tapewound monel and the D and G are nylon wound and look a bit like gut strings. E A D G Lovely mellow rootsy sound. http://www.gak.co.uk...a3MVBoCBxXw_wcB £120 for the set new, these are barely used and in excellent condition, no parting of any windings and just a little 'furring' of the tail-end silk. Strings are in Sheffield and are ready to post [/s]
7. progress pic... we now have frets, the neck carve is almost there (he now has my '78 to borrow so he can fine-tune the carve) body has been sanded back to clear coat only and looks rather lovely as-is
8. [s]For sale, the set of ti jazz flats that were on my fretless ray 4 when I bought it, I've not given them any use besides working out they're too light for me and they were new on when I got the bass... Cut for a 3+1 stingray tuner layout and looking/feeling essentially new. Price includes UK postage [/s]
9. [s]For sale a pair of superb (sadly discontinued) Sennheiser e855 mics, they've been frequently used and show some cosmetic evidence of that. Both work perfectly and sound superb just not fitting current needs...I could do with another beta 58a or two... Mics are in Sheffield or I can post within UK. £60 each or £100 for the pair.[/s]
10.
If that were my bass I would get rid of that solid wire tailpiece hanger sharpish though - they're prone to breaking (which is terrifying!) and people often say that the bass opens up with a flexible braided cord.
The tailgut is on my list of things to do (along with a new bridge, tailpiece and a few other bits when I get some more cash together) it shows no visible signs of metal fatigue or any sign of having been touched in decades but yes I've heard horror stories and it's definitely on my 'to-do' list
11.
Nice, can't wait to get and try mine. Do you like it?
It's very nicely built and very sturdy indeed, there's a massive convenience to having the fixed length endpin to just slot in when you setup, I've only had a very brief go with it and soundwise I need a more sustained time to play in a quiet house and do a comparison to be able to hear the full difference
