Do you consider yourself an "expert" bass player?
andydye replied to Jam's topic in General Discussion
No I'm not an expert, I know just enough theory to muddle through most things, technique wise I'm adept enough to play everything I've been asked to play thus far and have been suitably euipped to learn anything new that has been thrown my way -
You know how good the Wren and Cuff gear is. I'm guessing it wont be around for long
Indeedy matey! Given how much one of these would be new from the Us, I'd say £90 shipped for yours is a cracking price matey! You look after your gear really well (having seen your other stuff) -

I have the Hercules ones that do the grabby thing and they've worked fine with all my basses, I have 35" scale Lakland at the mo and the stand-neck extends far enough for my bass to be comfortably off the floor...

FS to help clear my drawers out a bit more, my last remaining e604 tom/snare/brass mic used once but that project folded pretty quickly so been sat in my drawer since then. mint condition, includes sennheiser pouch thingy (original box gone in a house move I'm afraid) £[s]70[/s] 60 incl shipping (UK only) Also, an e614 condensor mic...pristine condition, used once, includes mic clip and soft bag. The most recent e614 on ebay went for just over £80 shipped, I'll do it for £[s]75[/s] 65 shipped (UK only) for BC folks? or £[s]130[/s] 120 shipped (UK only) for both the e604 and e614

TRADED, my line6 dl4, mine from new, served me well on guitar for a good while, don't play guitar so much now and I also hav a maxon ad9 which has sufficient delay noises should I require any... Superbly versatile modelling, sampling pedal, comes with original box, instructions, power supply, also with it I can include a diago green adaptor. It has a couple of scratches on the top which are through the green paint to the underlying chassis but it all works beautifully and sounds great! £130 shipped in the uk (recent auctions on ebay have completed at £130 + £10 shipping)

I've got a maxon ad9 that's nice and analog and a line6 dl4 that does everything and has a tap tempo, not used either on bass (yet) but hav used the dl4 loads and it's been brilliant. Not really playing guitar nowadays so may sell the dl4, boxed, all original bits inc power supply etc, I've got the diago pedalpower adaptor for it too...
I wonder if you would get more interest if the tuners were arranged like a Jazz rather than a MM? Just a thought. Any reason why they were arranged in that style?
I have thought the same myself, aesthetics eh...it was a practical thing... McGraham's words (he had the neck made): " 3 over 1 tuner arrangement rather than 4 inline - this was to reduce the overall length of the bass and get it to sit better on the body (the original one was too neck heavy for my style of playing)" It did work too, the neck and body balanced beautifully! Ultralites tuners, shorter headstock, worked a treat... it's a gorgeous neck too!

is your bass strung through bridge rather than through body? it sounds like there isn't enough angle between where the string comes out of the back of the bridge and where it goes over the saddle, this is what stops the saddles from flopping up and down...falling off the thread on the saddle sounds like the same issue... for fret buzzing between 1st and 12th string I'd be looking first at the curvature of the neck, if you sight down the neck from the headstock end, using a string as a straightedge as you look, does the neck appear dead straight (not so clever), convex (bowed out towards the strings (not at all good) or slightly concave (much more like it)? Another test you could would be to fret both the 1st and 12th frets on the e string and see how much clearance the string has at about the 7th fret, if it's touching there's not enough curvature (concave-ness) on the neck, if it's not then there might be something else wrong. If you have buzzing at 13th fret or higher then it's generally a raise the saddles type fix. If any of the above don't help it might be a fret problem rather than a neck problem which (for me) means find a luthier to have a look at it or the neck might need some kind of shim (which again needs a luthier for me!)...
