1. Still here, still for sale. Little Mark II heads seem to sell for £400, so for only £550 you get the combo. Must be a decent deal? Frank.
2. This is a fantastic price. Even if you allow say £250 to have a U-retro preamp fitted, it's still a snip. I have one of these and it's easily the best bass I own and have ever owned. Buy it. Frank.
3. Kyron, here's a link. http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua...t=3&vedi=41 It's the tweeter model. Musicman20, I can't take pics at the moment. My daughter borrowed my camera for a wedding. I can tell you that the condition is as-new though. No scuffs, no scrapes at all. I'll post pics later if you're still interested. Andy. If it doesn't sell, that's exactly what I'll do. I have a sheet of aluminium to make a cover too. Hagguy. Thanks for the offer. See your PMs. I'm asking £550 + shipping at cost. New cost at the time of purchase was £790 IIRC so that's a saving of £240 and it's hardly used. I had a little local interest but it's gone cold so shipping is possible. It will be packed to my usual high standard. Thanks for the interest everyone. Frank.
4. This is just to say that I've added a little to the Midget review and added the Compact/Midget stack review. It gets even better folks. Frank.
5. I would consider trades for a small, powerful amp head. I will also sell and reduce the price to £550 + postage cost. This is in as-new condition, very loud and has a tone which I love. PM me if interested. Thanks. Frank.
6. Back from weekend away in the campervan bump. Open to offers. Postage is possible and it will be very well packaged for this. Frank.
7. Bump. Now also for sale. I still prefer a trade though..... see first post. I'm away until Tuesday so I can't reply until then. Frank

My condolences to Si's family and friends. He always came across as very helpful, decent and good humoured. I feel genuinely sorry at his passing. Frank.
9. Just a bump to lift this from page 3. No love for the Markbass? Frank.
10.
Thanks Frank, that's far more eloquently than I could have put it. Btw, a few people have messaged me asking if I'd consider selling it. I was really looking for a straighforward swap, but I expect that most people who own Midgets have them for a specific purpose and aren't looking to offload them. If I was to sell it, I would want back what I paid for it as it hasn't done a lot since I bought it from Bassculture. I can't remember the exact figure and would need to look into this, but that was also on the basis of collection, and the only reason I would be selling it would be to help fund the purchase of a Midget.
It makes good sense to have both a Compact and a Midget. By mixing and matching you effectively have three rigs. Don't underestimate the capabilities of the Midget as a cab to use on its own. It's loud in a different way to the Compact. More aggresive sounding but not unpleasant and you can dial in lots of bass if you want to. I've used it for a pub gig on its own and a few people were amazed at the sound and depth coming from such a small box And over the last two weekends I've used both cabs stacked and it's just so capable and one of the gigs was in a huge hall with a high ceiling which was no problem to fill with powerful deep bass. Money well spent. I think I'll have this rig for a very long time because I can't think of any other cabs that would perform better for me. Frank
11. I'll chip in here. The Compact and Midget together sounds massive. Either cab on its own is fekin loud but together, the sound is what I would describe as BIG. Even at low volumes, it sounds really full, deep and powerful. Crank up the volume and you could knock walls down Honestly though, for most pub gigs, the Compact is more than enough. Frank
12. Since the arrival of my Barefaced Midget cab I find I'm using my Compact and/or Midget for gigs and the Midget for rehearsals so the MB combo is unused. It's in 100% as-new condition. It's had little use and has never been pushed hard. Comes with the original manual but stupidly, I've disposed of the original box. It would be well packed for shipping though. Bought new by myself and it's been treated and cared for like a baby. I'd like to trade for a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. (Long shot I know - not interested on shuttle 3.0 or 6.0) Would also trade for a Barefaced Midget with a little cash my way. I know this is a long shot but there just might be someone with an unused head who would find a tiny and very loud combo more useful? It's very easy to carry too if you use the bus or train and can handle small to medium pub gigs surprisingly well. EDIT. I haven't had any trade offers for any of the above amps so I will also sell if anyone's interested. I'm asking for £595 ***(NOW £550)***(Now £525) ono + postage because of the condition and lack of use. This is a last resort. I still prefer a trade because after what I paid for this wonderful piece of kit, I'm dropping a lot of cash and it's barely been used. Such is life. Thanks. Frank
13. I've just checked all my basses Dave. Although it's hard to tell from the angle of your pics I think none of mine are misalighned as yours seems to be. I have a US vintage RI 75, classic 70s, and a very nice SX 70s jazz and all the pick ups seems to be aligned. All my "non Fender" basses are perfectly aligned too. I have seen misalignment like this on two jazz basses - both Tokai surprisingly. I hope this helps and I really hope you get sorted with this. I'll be watching with interest to see what the cause of your problems turns out to be. Frank Off topic but I played your old Lakland the other day, the black 5 string one. What a great feeling bass. One of the best set ups I played.
14. Come on. Spill the beans. What shop was it? Frank.
15. 'ken 'ell. What shop was that? I'm taking one bass a week to him until they lock him up. Frank.
16. My Streamer stage 2 is my lightest bass at 9.0lbs. It's lighter than both my Fender jazzes which both come in at 9.5lbs. My 51 reissue Precision is also about the 9.5lbs mark. My last Streamer was 8lbs 4ozs !! So Warwicks are heavy? Not in my experience. Frank
17.
Try here, about halfway down the page: http://www.spectorbass.com/about/model_years_4.html It say later models had crown inlays, but doesn't say about the Aguilar...
Ah, silly me. Ive found it. Excellent. Thanks. Frank.
18. To me the Streamer is the best all round Warwick. It sits perfectly and is easy to play. I own a Streamer Stage 2, which to me, is the ultimate Warwick being the best compromise between the Thumb sound with the Streamer ergonomics. Frank.
19. I can't seem to find my CRFM5. It's all maple body and neck with rosewood fretboard. It originally had an Aguilar pre-amp although it now has a U retro. It's a superb bass, certainly the best playing and sounding bass I own. Frank
20.
Yeah rumour has it its going back over the water again!!! Must like Norn Iron lol!!!! I eventually got my hands on it lol!!!!!!
Lovely bass Dave. I look forward to hearing it sometime. Frank.
21. All I can do is offer my own experience with Markbass. I've owned 4 amps and never a single problem. Frank
22. I've bought one recently and I'm amazed at how good they sound. The neck feels much faster than it should given the dimensions. I am really surprised at how much I like this bass. Up until two or three years ago I wouldn't have had a Fender of any description, especially a Precision. Never say never? Frank.
23.
Surely a better solution would be to have an eight string neck. Strings would be in pairs, each pair tuned the same, so E E A A D D G G. The frets would not extend across the whole of the neck, but would be present-absent-present-absent-present-absent-present-absent, so that one string of a pair has a fret underneath it, while the other string of the pair doesn't. The bridge would have to allow independent string height adjustments, so that the fretless strings would be at a lower height than the fretted strings. There would be some compromises to be made in terms of bending strings. The fretted strings couldn't really be bent as they'd go off the end of the short frets, so player would have to remember to use the fretless strings when they want to bend the note, but also to use a slide combined with the bend so as to avoid bending the fretless strings over the frets. To allow flexibility, it would probably be better to have a guitar trem system (two way bends) so that the trem can be used for bends that are tricky with the frets as they are. And if anyone has read this far and thinks I'm being serious, then I fart in your general direction.
Good man. Farting is good. Follow throughs are much less satisfying. Frank
24. The John Butler Trio - Grand National. Great rhythms, great songs and playing. Frank.
