Roland VS-2400CD

Thanks guys, our guitarist has loads of microphones etc. The mixer includes a 15" TFT monitor, wireless mouse and keyboard. Also both effects expansion slots are filled, allbeit with the VS8F-2 processor rather than the VS8F-3 but you can't have everything. As my car recently blew up and I had to spend my dosh on another, he says I can pay him off monthly without interest so I think I'm going to go for it. Cheers, Pete.
2. Hi folks, A friend of mine is selling a Roland VS-2400CD digital studio. He's was going to start up a mobile recording studio but has now changed his mind and is selling up. Anyway, he has offered the unit to me at a good price and I'm struggling to decide whether to go for it or not. I play in two bands and think it would be great for recording rehearsals, making demos etc. What do you think, is this bit of kit an overkill? Will the novelty of lugging it about and connecting it up where off too soon? Please help me to make up my mind Pete.
3. I purchased some Rotosounds from Strings Direct. They sell the High C .035" separately. I also bought a set of the half rounds with a separate High C but haven't tried them yet. Pete.
4. There was a thread where one of the Hercules twin stands collapsed damaging a bass. I can't remember who posted it and it doesn't appear in the results if you search for Hercules, might have been on BW. Anyway, I use two of the Hercules single stands and think they're great. Pete.
5.
makes it easier to play consistent finger style between the pickups or between the pickup and the neck... effectively makes the pickup very wide... http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/theramp.html
Thanks for the reply Paul, never had a problem though - guess I'm lucky. Pete.
6.
MB1. None of these look particularly strong enough for a BMX?...
Was thinking similar here... so, what does a ramp on a bass do? Pete.
7.
1 Rickenbacker 4003 (I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of)
Keep it, you know it makes sense (will in a few years when it's worth 2x its current value). My 4003 has also taken a back seat to my Stringray, but it does have its moments and I wouldn't part with it unless I really really had too. Pete.
8. Currently I have 10 basses and 2 guitars. Pete.
9.
Option three is much more serious, especially as it requires you to source new capacitors of exactly the same ratings. This is not something to undertake lightly
The ratings need not be exactly the same. Similar ratings (+/- 10% maybe more in my opinion) would suffice. Different replacement types will even work without a major change of tone (ie. polycarbonate/polyester instead of ceramic). However, make sure the voltage rating of the replacement is at least as high as the existing cap especially for electrolyic/tantalum bead and ensure polarity sensitive components are correctly polarised. Pete. PS. I would change the capacitors first not last, especially if the amp is aging a bit. PPS.
It's time consuming and there's no guarantee it will fix the problem
+1 on that but won't hurt to do so!

12. The output on my 4003 is definately hotter than my other basses (active or passive). I think the pickup height route sounds the way to go. Pete.
13. You need to take a look through this thread then. Pete.
14. +1 Got mine from http://www.amplifiercoversonline.com/ excellent quality and service. Pete.

16. Well my initial GAS has thankfully subsided, so for the time being I think I'll stick with my electric basses. Pete.

18. I think they look horrible, and I like Marmite!
19. Got it! Sounds surprisingly good and plays well.

South East Bash

I don't think the opinions for the national bash location will be very balanced given the title of this thread. Just my 2p. Pete.
22. Well I've just paid the customs charge of £98 and should receive it tomorrow. Total price around £540. Pete.
23. In the past I've found a high fret by moving a steel rule up the neck in line with the offending string (A string in your case) and rocking the rule from end to end. Worked for me, found the high fret and dressed it Dunno how it should be done properly though  Pete.
