1. This thread is funny. My tip for gigs: Always introduce yourself to the promoter, even if they're a prat. On the slight off chance they're not a prat, it might strike up a decent relationship for the future.
2. Oooh another one, Elvis Presley's version of Bridge Over Troubled Water. And while I'm here, the unreleased cover of 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' that Ozzy Osbourne did. Hear: https://www.youtube....h?v=ASHuUC3DJAc
3.
I have a guitar which has had a pickup secured by sellotape. The sellotape has been removed and has left sticky marks. Any suggestions on what to use to remove those marks without ruining the finish? See pic. (Marks on right near 'F' hole & underneath the bridge.)
I'll probably get told off by the people who know the proper method for this but I'd maybe just get a tiny bit of solvent cleaner onto a bit of kitchen roll, the slightest bit shouldn't damaged the finish...
4.
Judging by some of these reactions - Right here in this very thread.
5. DV247. Ordered my most recent Bass from them and a salesperson, Patrice, was an absolute wonder! He was happy to send me pictures of the Bass (as it was b-stock), even chucked in a gig bag and it was packaged really well. Paid via phone which was perfect, all arrived safe and sound, he then followed up by ringing me after I'd had the bass for 2 days to see how it was.
6.
You can call me Al - Paul Simon, it's so good! Cheese Gold!
YES!!!!
7. A pretty penny though... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ampeg-1964-B15N-B15NC-/272544592909?hash=item3f74ec740d:g:VNUAAOSwopRYbOB4
8. I think that they best way to pitch it to a potential pub, to avoid paying them; would be to have a clear plan about how you can grow the night, and how therefore, it can benefit them in increased revenue. Having some objectives for growth might convince them to let you set this night up in their empty pub. I think the first step is making it clear that it's a project, they won't be getting 300 extra quid worth of beer sales the first Sunday it's on. They need, and you need time to let it grow and gain a reputation as a quality music night, so I would say that any pub who want instant results aren't the one for you. Additionally, for monetising it, as a jam/open-mic night, you cannot really charge so I would simply encourage donations to keeping the 'jukebox' as such, playing. Best of luck! Live music needs more people willing to stick a leg out!

10. Hey, Anybody have any useful settings or pre saved channel strips I could steal for recording Bass into Logic Pro X? I'm using the Bass amp designer on there, and some of the presets are just downright nasty. I'm using my Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I'm not looking for perfect, or iTunes worthy worthy bass tracks, I just practice using Logic so some settings that are good and will help my Bass sit well with playing along to audio files would be helpful. Cheers, Reuben
11. My colleague got told off for drinking Ozzy's water before the show!
12. The company I work for provided the radio comms for the whole show on Saturday, the end of 'The End'. Got loads of a cool little black sabbath confetti's hanging around the office now!
13. OH WOW! Simply beautiful, it's not just a bass, it's a piece of art. Brilliant way of doing the magnets, such innovation sir.
14.
It's Mine, it's mine. I write this as I enjoy a brew in my new D'addario mug. Wow, never won anything like this before. Took delivery last week and the team at D'addario were just great to communicate with. Thanks so much to everyone who made this happen for me. Still going through everything that arrived in the three big boxes and my son has nicked some of the gear. He is a guitarist and thinks the Route 66 pedal is more suitable to his needs, he reminded me that I am just a bass player and he has never seen me use any pedals. Then he see's that there are other goodies that appeal to him. I guess it is gonna be Father/Son sharing time. It does remind me that "You gotta be in it to win it". Thanks again D'addario.
Wow! Congratulations! How does the bass play? More importantly, what's the quality of the mug like? Is it good ceramic?
15.
I'm a bit biased on this because I've just got one, but you might want to check out the Fender Deluxe P bass Special. It's a PJ with passive mode for classic tones and an excellent active preamp which gives you a huge range of tones. It's also got the jazz width neck. It'll set you back roughly the same as a Flea bass, but for my money is a lot more versatile than a jazz. If you don't fancy the fender it might be worth checking out other PJs as that combination of pickups really does give you an awesome range of sounds.
Hear hear! Great Bass, very versatile.
16. OK it's clear I need to look at dood's stuff then for reviews that are worth my time. Yeaaaa, keepin' it in the BC circle.
17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Fresher-Bass-Guitar-1975-made-In-Japan/232216063265 I like the look of it to be honest!
18. Can't believe nobody has mentioned Carol Kaye to be honest For the record I am being humorous...
19. What a lovely finish and colour combo! Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine, it's a real pleasure to play and have such a vast array of tones on one bass.
20.
To demonstrate the ability of whatever kit to produce a full frequency range, especially the high bit? You can always turn it down, but can't add it if it's not there in the first place.
Fair enough, thought it would be something like that! Thanks.
21. Why? Genuinely curious, do they think something to do with the tone or demonstrating the sounds is better with slap? Can't we just have more of an emphasis on NORMAL playing...
22. Have to say I really enjoy Nathan East (Clapton, Phil Collins). He's just cool as, effortless playing and he plays some nice lines too!
23. The page title in the source is 'American Vintage '58 Precision Bass®, Maple Fingerboard, 3-Color Sunburst | Fender Bass Guitars'. That lines up with the pics. Maybe just a copy paste error in the product name etc? Would be nice though.
24. I bought one of these recently myself, for the same reasons. I just love the P-tone but need the slim Jazz neck, and the bridge pickup to an extent. Like yourself I ordered online, blind. (DV247 though, got a B-stock 2014 model for a lower price, tiny scratch on the back). Really versatile bass, enjoy! Happy NBD!
