1. Hi all, Just been looking at Squier Basses and while looking at both the Affinity Jazz and Precision I noticed that the body is Alder. To me this seems weird as normally Fender American's have this wood. Is this less expensive and not as good quality as the USA's? I found that my Squier Vintage Modified Jazz is Basswood but a lot more expensive, this may be due to the Seymour Duncan's in them but I was wondering how well Affinity's are made. Could and owners/past owners give me a general idea if they're good build? Cheers, got GAS for a Precision/Jazz Bass right now so thought I'd ask some questions.
2. Thanks for the advice everyone. Definitely going to order this book after what's been said. I look forward to getting a copy.
3. Thanks both of you, I'll be sure to check it out.
4. Hi all, I've been playing Bass for around 10 months now. I'm in a band who regularly gig and rehearse so I have learnt to play as a band. We mainly play Post Punk/Punk style so my bass lines are pretty simple with 2 or 3 parts repeated throughout. However, I am looking to explore more styles so I can create a new sound and generally know my scales and theory. The problem is I don't know where to start learning them, how to identify them and remembering them. If anyone could recommend any books, videos and sites on scales to start with that would be a major help. Also I know teaching would be perfect but right now finances are limited and that will have to wait. Thanks in advance.
5. Hello all. Currently looking at replacing my tuning machines on my Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. I'm going for Hipshots but would anyone with past experience or knowledge know which ones to buy? I think HB2's would do it but would like some advice. Thanks in advance.
6. Will do, thanks for the advice. Also, does anyone know how Peavey Serial Numbers are worked out? Working on 2 more of these Basses soon and would be lovely to learn how to work them out. Thanks in advance.
7. I've just come into possession of a Peavey Milestone III Bass. Black finish and half broken and I'm currently restoring it after my school asking me to repair some instruments. Nearly cleaned it all and repaired but I'd like to know what year this Bass was made so I can keep a record of all the guitars I've repaired and when they were made. (Sad I know. ) So for all you Peavey geeks out there, can you help me with this? Serial Number: I2100558 Model: Peavey Milestone III (3) Black. Thanks in advance. Will be posting a thread about me restoring, rewiring and repairing old guitars as this is my first time trying this.

My Jazz. Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass 2011 3TS. Beautiful look about it and great tone from the Seymour Duncan Pickups on it. Album here.
9.
Would love to see your bb350 in electric Blue!
Album here. Not quite sure on the Electric Blue colour if I'm honest, that was guesswork. 1994 built. Yamaha decal removed due to my Dad sanding it off to put the neck on a Ibanez Blazer Body.
10. Looks great! Loving this thread so far. I have a Yamaha BB350 and it's great. Yamaha do a good job. Looking forward to the finished product.
11. Hi, Thought I should introduce myself to the community though I should have done so earlier. Hello all!
12. Hi, My band "The Prospects" hailing from Coventry have recently been in in the recording studio to get some tracks done. We're quite young but that doesn't stop us from gigging and getting music done! We've been working on these tracks for a while now but we would like to hear what others think so constructive criticism is appreciated. We completed 3 live recordings (with vocals and lead guitar overdubbed) in 8 hours and if I may say so myself they sound pretty good. Mixing was quality and the guys set up was absolutely brilliant. Was all recorded at The Moonbase Studios Coventry. Cheers.
13. Hi all, I'm another Coventrian hitting the scene. I've been playing Bass properly for about 1 and a half years self taught and it's all quite good. At the start of the year I joined a band and because of that my playing style and capability has picked up a lot. Bass: Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass 3-Tone Sunburst (2011, Duncan Designed Pickups) See y'all around.
