1. Played in the Spice of Life in Soho, a never before practiced acoustic set due to a midweek drummer crisis. This place is widely known as the best music pub in London, and we had a decent crowd, mainly due to the guys who were on before us being genuinely amazing. Got a few compliments on my bass playing (and didn't see the guitard get any *sniggger*) so was fairly happy.
 2.
Well the Marcus does have the active eq but one thing about Jazzes with inlaid necks, that I've found, is that they can be quite chunky. I've played a couple of 70's Jazzes (a 73 and a 75) and the necks are quite deep. The re-issues seem to be as well. The Geddy Lee on the other hand is based on a 72 Jazz that Geddy Lee bought secondhand and had a luthier sand the neck down so it was much shallower than a normal 72 bass would be. The Geddy re-issues also have incredibly shallow necks which is why they are so easy to play. Also Geddy Lees are usually cheaper than MMs. Geddys are great! But then I would say that wouldn't I? I'm selling one.
Sorry for the slight thread hijack, but thanks for the great info Thin (ish) necks are a must for me, or at least not as chunky as your average p bass! What are the Geddy re-issues? I'm a bit of a numpty on the Fender front, P basses put me off them at an early age and I've tried to steer clear of them, but I've loved the playability and sounds from the MM and GL sigs I've tried.
 3.
I'm just looking for cash at the moment but your bass sure looks nice.
Ok mate, thanks very much. If mine gets no trade interest I'll try and mark it as for sale, and maybe I'll come back. It'd be a tough call between this and a Marcus Miller J though, what do you make of the differences between them?
 4. This is probably exactly what I want, let me know if you'd be interested in a bass + cash trade for my beautiful Bartolini equipped Dean, which can be seen in the FT thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=150168
 5.
This really chimes in with my point the other day lol.
Yup Played it at a gig last night, these basses are so great. We had a drummer crisis so decided to do the set acoustic last minute - no problem, just whacked both pickups into single coil, rolled off the treble and I had myself a Jazz bass.
 6. Any trade offers? Particular interested in MIJ J basses, aerodynes or any 5er. Will consider anything though so hit me up!
 7. My band (well the guitarist and I) are doing an acousticised version (I hate drummers) of some of our numbers in the basement bar at the Spice of Life in Soho tonight. This place is widely known as the best live music pub in London. Very close to Leicester Square tube station, you can't get more central! £5 entry covers you from 7.30-11, though the pub upstairs will be open before then. Support acts Roz Bruce and Cojin are on at 8.15 and 9 respectively. Come down and see us if you have the time or nothing better to do! PM me for a phone number if you wish Cheers Dan
 8. We were talking about doing anarchy in the UK, but are now doing an acoustic set, and it did not work when we tried it!
 9. Bump for a valuation of '£300 + postage including a slightly ropey gig bag' - offer me anything!
 10.
I thought second hand Warwick prices were on the up again?
11. Had one bloke offered me a trade for his thing, which was up for sale. I said no but he could of course come back if his sold (it was a bit obscure but up for the same price). Had some other american who was actively looking for an ocean blue 5er corvette $$, seemed very interested etc etc but not had a reply in a week so not sure what's going on there. The other guy is Argentinian, who is working in Austria in Sept/Oct. He has suggested coming to London for it and I have said I'm happy to do that or post or go to Austria if the flights are cheap enough, but would rather sell it to a BCer (and ideally within the UK) if I can. Be nice to keep it here, and also, I may well be interested in buying it back in a few years time! Dan
 12. Trade interest for my Dean? It's up on here. I'm thinking Jazz 24 my way and perhaps some cash and the Dean your way? Let me know if you'd be interested.
 13.
Rest assured the mere fact that I'm considering buying one should see second-hand prices double while I'm trying to get the cash together. Thanks again for all the info.
I wish mine would sell for more, I've been told it's a silly price to let it go for but I do very much want a slightly different one. I advise taking a look at corvette and streamer $$s!
 14.
HI TOOK ME MISSUS TO SEE THE MAIDEN AT O2 IN LONDON, SHE WAS A VIRGIN IN THE HOUSE OF MAIDEN,SHE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT AS SHE NEW NOTHING OF THEIR SONGS, ME ON THE OTHER HAND FELT LETDOWN BY BRUCES' VOCAL LEVELS BEING DROWNED OUT BY THE REST OF THE BAND, WE SAW RUSH IN MAY THERE AND THEY WHERE SPOT ON. WIFE IS NOW WELL AND TRULY OVER TO THE DARKSIDE NOW, IT'S ONLY TOOK 20YRS TO GET HER AWAY FROM BARRY MANILOW, AND BAY CITY ROLLERS ETC,(YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT) THANKFULLY I'VE NEVER HAD TO GO AND SEE THEM LOL CHEERS RAY
What night were you at, Ray? I was there on Saturday 6th and their sound was as bang on as ever, and the vocal levels were great I thought? I was slap bang in the middle, about 20 yards back from the stage, whereabouts were you?
 15.
Ordered my LH5000 from Guitar Amp Keyboard, today £269, should be here by Friday tea time they say
Welcome aboard the LH500 club, these things are amazing, and the price is even moreso!
 16. I loved mine too, for a good few years, and it sure served me well. Plugged it in a month or so ago and the sound blew me away again, it sounds better than the reverse thunderbird and perhaps the non-reverse, but I can't play a 4 in the current band and can't play a 4 very well anymore anyway! All trade offers welcome. This may be given a for sale price if there isn't all that much interest, but I'm not sure what that'd be.
 17. a) Have the whole band transpose the songs into 2 or ideally 1 tuning(s), and just play them transposed b. Have your one bass tuned in the lowest of the 4 and transpose your playing - or similarly just do this for enough of the songs so you're only having to take 2 c) Find a 5 string you like, and all your problems are solved got I hate the b followed by a bracket thing
 18. [s]F[/s]or sale or trade is my Dean Edge q4 Bartolini. The q stands for the quilt maple top, which makes this one hell of a looker. This model doesn't seem to be made anymore, at least not available to the UK. The current Edge q4 is also not available in this fantastic Tiger's Eye colour. This has Bartolini neck and bridge soapbar pickups and a 2-band active EQ, with a fairly standard set of controls: Master Vol, Blend, Treble and Bass. These sound great, very bright with roundwounds but beautifully clear and crisp. Specs nicked from the Bill Lewington site (Dean UK distributor):

Quilt Maple Top
Basswood Body
34" Scale & 1-9/16" Nut
Grover Tuners & Black Hardware
Bartolini Pickups w/Active Electronics / Specs:
Neck: BARBB4CB
Bridge: BARBB4D2
Bolt-on Maple & Walnut 5-piece Neck
Rosewood Fingerboard
Dot Inlays
24 Frets
The neck is by far the thinnest I have ever played, but is still not too thin so as to be whippy or bendable! Very fast too and a lovely profile. This bass is also tremendously light, I'm not sure how light but I can try and find out, but is lighter than any other bass I have ever owned. The body is very thin too, and nicely sculpted to rest your arm on in various positions. This was the second bass I ever bought, and was an unbelievable step up from a MM copy, and was fine enough for years for me until I ordered a CS Warwick 5. Unfortunately with my trio of beloved 5ers, it just never gets played. It's in fantastic condition, and will be supplied with a slightly knackered gig bag, but this will be inside a guitar box for shipping so have no fear. The non-Bartolini pickup version of this bass, which is no longer available in this colour is currently listed with an RRP of £519 according to Bill Lewington's UK Dean price list. Obviously this is second hand but it is in great nick (edit: found 2 barely noticeable scratches on the edge of the body <2mm long, could easily be sanded out, and a slight ding on the top of the headstock). The value of these is hard to place. The non-Bartolini versions of this seem to go for about £200 on here, and as I mentioned above is about £519 new. To buy the Bartolini soapbars new they would be $134 each in the US, so two work out at £165, though I think it would be more realistically closer to £250 or at least £200 if you bought them here. [s]With this in mind I think setting £300 + postage including a slightly ropey gig bag to be more than a reasonable price.[/s] [s]Now selling at £275 £250, including gig bag and insured postage, cannot go any lower.[/s] This bass is now SOLD! Thanks for reading, Dan
 19. great price, great amp, can supply more/better photos if needed
 20. If I had the cash, this would be the first bass I would buy on here, but alas, I don't
 21. Seen a Warwick SSII 5er up on here getting a lot of interest - this is a lot more bass for your money, and IMO worth a whole lot more too.
