I`m happy to open a feedback thread for Simon "miles`tone" from Cardiff. After my post enquiring about P/J pickguards on this Forum Simon got in touch with me and offered an american P/J scratchplate in the colour I wanted, FREE of charge! Went down to Tims on Thursday from Manchester to buy his Ampeg 115 and arrived quite late (11pm). Tim had kept me fully up to date with his movements etc so I could co-ordinate meet up times. When I needed to arrange the whole thing Tim was very easy going and totally amenable. It all went wonderfully with Tim taking the time to show me around the Ampeg, tell me about its history and so on. He also threw in to the deal a Roqsolid cover and a set of Precision pickup covers! To paraphrase red dwarf, "Wottaguy!" A great man to deal with, very kind in his dealings, and has two gorgeous happy cats which says it all ! Thanks very much Tim. MM

i like the look of that, retro tele bass with MM pickups. yum. Except for the Gotoh look a like tuners, if you stuck Fendery ones on it would definitely have a vibe. What does it play like and what does it sound like? The most important questions. I have a 1982/3 Hohner precision clone that was bought from this same shop in manch in the spring of 83 and still has the chase sticker on the back!

It never used to be this complicated. Now every time someone wants a quick cheap replacement for an average non boutique cab,out come the laptops and the Kappalite recommendations.

Well done on the comeback, I know it takes a good deal of thought and consideration to immerse yourself once again in all the highs and lows of life in a gigging band. I returned to playing properly myself only a few months ago and my first gig for nearly 14 years is on july 30th. At the moment I still think I did the right thing, I hope you feel the same! MM

See, this is my definition of fun. Whacking old bass bodies with hammers etc. When you get it done the satisfaction will force a big smug grin on yer gob and you`ll want to tell everyone. It`ll probably even sound good! I`m betting that after a good wd soak and wire brushing those screws will come out..... Good luck!
