1. That`s a nice piece of wood. Well worth the work. MM
2. Bon Iver on Later
3. Patrice Rushen-Forget me nots. Freddie Washington bassline. Not a massive memory task, but needs loads of feel and understatement.
4. He`ll no doubt already have thought this through but I reckon that`s def a muso who used the facility so, he needs to look at who has STOPPED using the rooms since the robbery. Contact them and circulate the pics/vid. Readings a small place..
5. Yes there are. Gator and SKB use a slightly different size from standard pro. Just whip out one of the springs and get thee to Been&Queued.
6. +1 on the strapmaker on ebay, I think he`s in Wales. Asked me exactly how I wanted it making, length colour of buckle/leather etc, even if I used straplocks. Was fast delivery and the strap will outlast me or the bass.
7. ART have some decent ones with phase reverse and a basic filter for not much more new.
8. Looks like it`s lived in the garage for the last twenty years. Jap made though and heel access truss rod means prob a maple/maple originally. Well worth £25 Keep us posted will you? Always good to [s]laugh at someones mistakes[/s] see how to deal with certain problems like rust and fecked screws etc.
9. I`m thinking the Boss will do me. Failing that, a cheap micromixer.
10. I`m assuming you did all the wd40 and tightening the screws to break the seal type of things? How old`s the bass anyhow?
11. A quick look at the appalling Winehouse youtube stuff shows her Bassist using a Violin bass, so this style bass very definitely has a place in modern music. Would have it meself if the taxman hadn`t just extorted car tax off me. BUMP!
12. Makes a fine mute for accoustic guitars too.
13. I must remember to tell all the Soundguys in Europe not to use a Kick drum mic on a bass, because they all do... Every last one of them. From scuzzy clubs in Dresden to massive Festivals like Glastonbury. And so do I. At least for the past 20 years. But now I know better hey? I
14. Ta for all the the Bumps MB but I think this is sold tbc pickup on Tues. Huzzah.
15. It was Mera Luna yes.
16. I`m also in the market for a two bass one input solution, but on the Bigshot I can`t see any volume pots, so how do you balance the two levels? MM
17. Hi Jensen I think maybe we met once on a NMA gig. RE20s are not cheap. I can`t see anyone wanting to spend £400+on a mic for their bass rigs. Beta52s AKG D12s are perfectly acceptable. MM
18. Thanks all for your replies, we`re getting somewhere now! Voxpop, the crucial question is, did it improve your sound? Alex, if I understand correctly you are saying a filter wouldn`t just passively prevent frequencies above the roll off point getting to the driver, but would distort the response of the remaining frequencies the cab produces unpredictably? Hmmm. I will look into the high pass alternative also. MM
19. At the risk of being shot down again, I suggest the OP not get put off by all this technical stuff. If you feel like making a box, make a box. You can only learn from it. if what you learn is that using software to design your next box is a good idea, then it`s still worth it. If you get a good box, result. Point is to do something. MM
20. Vinegar shifts a lot of the tarnish. Have a try.
21. Thanks for the replies. I have someone sourcing me a filter. It needs to be the same ohmage and watts (or more) than the cab it is intended for. I`ll give it a wiz and report back if it`s any use. MM
22. Hi Stevie,as Colledge suggested I would use the fx loop, which is basically the same as an insert point on a desk.Which is where dynamic processors like compressors and gates are inserted into the signal path. So long as the loop is post eq on the amp, you`ll be compressing the tone as you wish. Then just send the power amp a signal from your line out. MM
23.
the tuners are tokai
Ta Fitzy, would that suggest the bass shared a manufacturer with the Tokais or maybe just used common to Tokai parts? MM
24. Thanks for the reply. Some better pics. I`d really like to know what model this is, I can`t see Arbor anywhere on it, or "Professional". The stickers on the back suggest it was bought at Chase Music, which was a large music shop in Manchester in the 70/80s Do the Arbor or Pro range have a truss rod at the heel or the headstock? The screws on the body back up the sellers claim that it came with the two chrome covers, but his mate convinced him it made it look old fashioned so he removed and lost them. I`m not convinced this is 80s, I think it may be a little older. It`s got rounds on at the mo, though I have a set of D`addario half wounds unused, do you think they would suit or should I just get some decent flats? Ta for any info. MM
