Removing needless holes in pickguard - how?
Monckyman replied to Immo's topic in Repairs and Technical
The cheapest way is to put some pickguard screws in. At least it looks better than holes. Some people use a vinyl to re-cover their pickguards, and it can look pretty good. -
+1 for Wembley speakers. They do all sorts of speaker repairs and recones. Get a quote, I suspect about £50. If you really want to upgrade to a more powerful 4ohm option it probably wouldn`t cost more than £80 but as stated, you`d need to tweak the ports. As far as I know, Ampegs are fitted with speakers made by Eminence. Definitely on my "inspired youth" list. Perhaps knowing a leather clad Lumley would soon appear helped.

Steve Lawson - Why I've Taken My Music Off Spotify
Monckyman replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I think I understand Mr Lawsons point of view, but only if I consider him to be an active opponent of the music industry as we know it. So, independent shows, releases, promotions etc. No label involvement. Fine. But I can`t agree that labels are the Devil, yes they make money, but we are capitalists,we all want to make money.Don`t we? Music as an art.OK ,it is an art, but art is possibly the most expensive thing I can think of.When has Art ever been free? How about you? I use Spotify a lot, it`s my main interface between the musical world and my living room. I happen to think that since I started using it, I and my partner have bought more music than the previous 5 years, simply because of exposure to more music than ever before. I realise that the revenue raised by it, directly or indirectly may not be accountable or deemed enough by some artists, but neither was Radio income in it`s heyday, and most of the royalties from them went to the large artists too. In my opinion, you can use your music (or Art,if you must) to promote itself via software like Spotify, and reach an audience of millions,or you can withdraw and hope it isn`t downloaded in enough quantities to damage your retail sales, providing of course you have an audience aware of your existence. Maybe at the end of all this moaning and arguing, you might even find time to write a few songs. MM -

Connection query - potentially silly question.

Yep, the "Full Range" label on the socket means the signal hasn`t been filtered by any internal crossover in the cab and can be used to supply another cab. -
The Red Shoes was always a fave P&P as was this film. The piano always made me feel on edge and tense, which I suppose it was meant to. I expect with so many grieving families at the time, it had a far deeper emotional impact than now, with everyone desperately hoping he got to live, unlike their Husband brother son etc Nice to see classic film scores getting a look in.

Are you lot seriously asking if any of that clips sound was actually performed live? For shame. More mime than a provincial French town on Bastille day. I suspect they asked to be supplied with red Fender shaped lumps of wood, and that`s what they got. And now you made me watch the anti-christ. Bugger. -

Nor me,but I need them for work : ( -
Just sold a Bassballs pedal to Shep, for which he paid immediately and without fuss, and duly informed me when it arrived and had been tested. A man can ask no more of his fellow men!

Steve, yes. One band is party dance female fronted disco, which I like but they are about as efficient as Mr Putins little vote counters. They seem to think they can up their game drastically, but don`t think they need to till the offer of the big gig comes in. I try to explain the big gigs won`t come in if they don`t up their game but they aren`t having it. Band two were complete dad rock let`s get pissed with our mates during the gig and who cares if the drummer doesn`t actually know how to drum. Lasted a gig with them. Band three looked great, aimed high, had a very non dad rock set and were super organised. I didn`t get that one Band four are a bit dad rock, but are mainly a wedding/function band so do a lot of non dad rock stuff and are open to modernisation, which is partly why I took the gig. I think the only way to truly avoid playing "allright now" and"johnny B good" is to find a female fronted function band. That way you get to play stuff like Chic and Gaga and Jamiriquai. My way out is going for a quieter jazz/dance styled band with no less than 3 women in it. Much less testosterone about.

As above, but try to tier them down. Which songs really don`t you know and which songs do you know? Spend more time on the known unknowns ( ) get the songs everywhere, in the car, the bog, work, wherever. Intros are most important, like flying a plane once you`re up and running it`s a lot easier to remember,so remember them! Cheat sheets, loads but in a nice easy access file so no spillage and fluster. Get it organised, you can do it. Good luck and get off this forum!

Good luck Steve, I`ve had 4 auditions in the last two months looking for exactly the same thing. I hope you get sorted. Dave.
