  1. Ah yes, you're new. It's easy to tell.

Reassuring - did it take long to arrive though? It appears to not have got out of Germany yet, having got as far as the parcel centre in Ebermannsdorf on the 14th.

That's what I've got incoming - did you get yours from Musikding, and how long did it take?
  4. I've also bought a box of electronic parts which could be assembled into a HPF/LPF pedal, so doubly out. I trust that if it takes me till 2024 to complete either or both of these, they will still only count in the 2023 abstinence.
  5. Well, I could get to try an Ibanez headless fretless.
  6. I've bought two pieces of wood, five tuners, and a bridge, that if I ever assemble it would make a bass. That'll be me out then.
  7. You have realised that the only true bass is a headless bass.
  8. Relax by Frankie, so I can get a pint from the bar with my left hand.
  9. I mostly play with fingers, but due to a slightly wonky right hand due to having a bone broken which has resulted in my index finger being slightly shortened and lowered relative to my middle finger, I use a pick for rapid successions of notes. I did try switching to mainly pick playing when I was in a Marillion tribute band, but went back to fingers when they decided to dispense with my services.
  10. PMT Birmingham have moved from their old premises just outside the Birmingham Middleway to where I think the Triumph dealership used to be, just inside the Birmingham Middleway, which means they've moved from outside the clean air zone to inside it - £8 for my car to go there (at least Mrs Zero's is free).

Don't be silly, tea isn't hot enough to melt solder.

I imagine that this was caused by just soldering the sockets onto the board and then putting the board into the box. I would suggest desoldering the three sockets, soldering just one pin of each into place, putting the board into position and lining up the sockets properly, then soldering them, if necessary desoldering the one soldered pin.
  13. That's right, and that's what @Smanth was after. You can get DC step-up converters (I've got one coming for my ordinary USB power bank) or get this which will operate on multi-voltage USB-C power banks and request a specific voltage. Which is also all covered in the video on the linked page.
  14. I did the mod on my Puma 900 and I can't hear the fan at all. It's not moving huge quantities of air, just creating some air movement.
  15. I should clarify on the active/passive thing - I meant how the speaker is used rather than what sort of bass is going in, so the speaker can be connected either to an external amp or use the internal board. Using a USB power pack, it would be possible to leave the power pack permanently in the speaker and have a USB connector to charge it.
  16. Has Gary Glitter started producing music videos?
  17. I think this may be the widget you want: https://www.electronics-lab.com/simple-adapter-board-turns-usb-c-power-supply-variable-voltage-source/ So it would be possible to fit a USB-C power bank, one of these boards, and a TPA3118 into a micro cab, with a USB connector and a jack socket on the back panel, and have a portable powered speaker. And a switch to allow switching between active and passive.
  18. 1A - enough for POC purposes. I've got a couple of 18V packs for a cordless drill which could be pressed into service too, I think it would just need two spade terminals to a DC power connector.
  19. Incidentally, a fretless Precision is rather an oxymoron as the Precision name was bestowed upon it by St Leo because it had frets so bass players would get the notes right.
  20. Good, someone's paying attention.
  21. I've got a Hotone Thunder Bass and was given a 4000mAh USB power bank for Christmas, plus I'm almost at the end of building the house jam micro cab. So I've just ordered a couple of step-up modules from Ebay (a fiver for two) so as to experiment and see if I have the perfect ultra-portable rig.
  22. Early Tecamp Puma 900s didn't have fans. I think the later ones do, and early ones can be modded to have one, but it's something like a 30mm fan so there's no fan noise. Not sure if the smaller Pumas have fans at all.

Someone's already done it for you. https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2012/02/john-hollis-flatline-compressor.html
  24. Dad was the one who did most music listening - it was almost all classical. I was born in 1957, and in my early teens I listened to Radio 1 and some Radio Luxembourg, and by my late teens liked Focus, T Rex (and Tyrannosaurus Rex), Queen, Yes, and Pink Floyd, all of which I still like. The main legacy of dad's collection is Flanders and Swann.
