  1. Just bought a fretless. As I was en-route to a gig it came with me. He'd a playful noodle in the sound check. Sounded gorgeous so I went for it. Half time break and only a couple of dodgy moments and only a handful of gratuitous sliding into the final note. I'm loving this
  2. Just had a dodgy car park meet with @therealting bought a bass outside Asda and it went swimmingly. Thoroughly decent bloke, great transaction. Delighted to recommend to you.
  3. I don't blame you Al. I have two Zoom multi effects I don't need another but this was calling me... So thank you.
  4. I rather like the look of this. Which is odd as I'm not usually a pale fretboard kind of guy. Sorry to hear you're calling it a day, hope someone snaps this up for you soon.
  5. @Al Krow looks incredible, but with my lumbago I'd never get my leg up high enough to operate those pedals.
  6. We do - for a different bass!
  7. Interesting perspective.
  8. So what do you guys do via a vis pedal boards? Receiver on the amp and use two long leads and the effects loop? Receiver at the pedal board and one lead back to the amp? Two different wireless transmitters /receivers one between bass and pedal board in and one between pedal board out and amp? Does it matter?
  9. What a fine fellow and fabulous Basschatter @Shaggy is. With no prompting whatsoever he saw I was in need and like the fabled cavalry he rushed to my aid. I was lacking a slider cap for a Trace Elliot head. Given their scarcity and the enormous demand he could have literally named his price. So did he? Did he take the chance to empty my coffers? Did he heck as like. He popped it in an envelope and entrusted it to the care of the GPO. It arrived today. My amp is no longer a gap toothed monstrosity but rather a beautiful smiling mid scooped wonder. I commend sir Shagworthy of Shagtown to you all. He is a Prince among men.
  10. Best review of anything, ever.
  11. I came into possession of my first Hiscox case recently. If anyone isn't familiar they are extremely good quality cases, well made, robust, not too heavy or bulky.
  12. That looks tasty!
  13. Really? Wow!
  14. I have a firm offer from @Stub Mandrelof this parish. Unless he has a late change of heart the deal will complete early next month. Sorry.
  15. Thanks @VTypeV4 knowing I could be playing through a frankly ludicrous pile of cabs is soo tempting. I mean just for a laugh.
  16. Plectrolology is a cult. Be very careful. Look what happened to Jack Reacher
  17. No argument with delivery, little package arrived today. Great service. Unfortunately the caps are a pound each and are not worth close to that. Also wrong size, wrong shape, wrong colour. The search continues.
  18. That's bang out of order @StevieE you should have written that in a private message. Who can truly value a bass like this? In any event the rotational neck weakens the intangible trussrod. So I've heard
  19. Ah, I do not need a not another bass, but my that's a beauty, if I manage to sell my 0 x 0 cabs I'll definitely take this. Are you driving nowhere any time soon?
  20. You find any you'll be my hero. I did discover that my old footswitch from a different amp will operate the mid scoop and graphic switches so I'm not endlessly reminded of their absence, but still...
  21. The other day I was a verse or two into the first song in the set when I realised, horror of horrors, I wasn't wearing my hat. Of course I had to grab it and don it at once even at the expense of missing a couple of notes. It's inexplicable and bizarre behaviour especially when you consider that I wouldn't normally dream of wearing a hat indoors. And no I'm not superstitious. I just don't feel right playing without it. Anyone else have any odd ritualistic gig tics, habits, or traditions?
  22. Great thread, thanks for all of the thoughts and experience shared here. Yes, even the disgruntled poster contributed valid ideas, please don't judge them too harshly - I have been there it's not a pleasant place. One aside, as a result of the Pino chat I decided to listen to a few of the recommended tracks. I knew nothing of the man other than his name, it does get bandied hereabouts so it's hard not to have heard it. Sowing The Seeds Of Love was a massive hit when I was in my 20s and Tears for Fears very much on my radar, especially as they grew out of a local band. I doubt I've listened to the song for decades now and was astonished on hearing it again. I honestly had no idea it was a simple tribute to the Beatles. At the time it seemed cutting edge but it could have been written by Neil Innes! Anyway I'm off to listen to more recommendations. Carry on.
  23. Blimey. Not many performers I was into when I was 10 still alive never mind giving it some like that
