  1. Yep, I'm knocking on the door of 60 too Blue. No illusions about earning a fortune but I am doing the thing I love.
  2. You and I should only ever do business with one another! i have a similar ability. I just pay up and months later have to discount heavily before I can sell!
  3. Too true Blue. I formed a band nearly two years ago and we have racked up precisely two gigs. I joined a band a couple of months ago and gig every weekend with them. The first band holds the promise of riches the second actually brings in money. Not a lot but I can't spend promises.
  4. Is a fair point, but of course available budget comes into play as well. I'm a working musician so I have a very limited budget. Having said that if I spent less of my money on instruments and amplification, when I clearly have plenty of both already, I could buy the best strings ever made. Perhaps I need to look closely at my priorities.
  5. I like them. But it is down to personal taste. If you were closer you could have a noodle and see
  6. Cheers. I found this on a youtube search the guy is very good at explaining his methods.
  7. Thanks RB. I assumed if it was that the buzz would stop when I touched a metal part. is this not so?
  8. Hey guys / gals , I guess we're all familiar with buzzy guitars that stop buzzing when we touch the strings. But what do you make of a bass which buzzes quietly all the time bit most loudly when I touch the strings?
  9. My rock band would be anchored by Brian Downey and John Entwistle, Malcolm Young and Rick Parffit chugging away on the six strings with Brian May taking care of solos George Michael singing.
  10. Elvis Costello would write the songs, Stewart Copeland on drums, Norman Watt-Roy on bass, Jules Holland piano, Smokey Robinson and Carla Thomas on vocals, Tommy Tedesco on guitar.
  11. I know. I gave up selling mine, traded it instead. This is a dream bass for 400 quid. Crazy.
  12. OK, Friday night in a pub in Swindon. Don't know what possessed me but I decided to go for two 15" Trace Cabs and my 500 watt Trace head, Ric copy I just bought straight in no effects. The bass needed a set up, the room had a boom to it I wrestled with all night and the crowd was whizzed and indifferent. But I had fun. Last night, Sunday, early start in one of my local boozers. Originals band with couple of Pogues covers thrown in. Oh and a stomping version of Country Roads which went down a storm. Ampeg, 2 Barefaced 15", Bruce Thomas Profile. Stunning sound. Bass Nirvana.
  13. God I dream of that! No matter how good my fellow musicians are I seem to end up with the biggest amateurs come sound check time
  14. Hey Blue. So glad to see you coming out of the doldrums.
  15. Price dropped type bumperoobedoobedoo Boss bass synth SYB3. Turn your bass into something else. either something a little different or something really different... (Jigsaw not included)
  16. I am the world's worst buyer. I can't haggle and seldom know what stuff is worth. So never bought anything crazy cheap. Bought a lot of cheap stuff but nothing you could call a bargain. Best buy of recent times was my Bugera Veyron new from Amazon for about £170. Worth its weight in diamonds
  17. Have a bump for a beauty of a bass, for being a fellow Trace fan and for standing up to ignorance. I'd have this if I was buying, but I'm skint and selling.
  18. Two singers I work with use Altos as monitors. Very good quality lightweight kit

  20. On this subject the content of an ignored user's posts will still show when others quote them. is there anything can be done about that or am I just being too ridiculous? Feel free to ignore me if I am
  21. Credit where its due. One of the reasons this project is so affordable compared with similar quality professionally produced cabs is because manufacturers recoup the cost of their time invested in research and development. Time you and others are putting in for free on our behalf. Basschat can (as can all other Internet forums) attract some silly egotistical people. Folk like you balance that tendency and keep this place special.
  22. You were unbelievably restrained. I commend you for remaining so polite. That you now apologise as well without any need to speaks volumes for your character. It is you and people like you make this place worthwhile.
  23. Thanks for the update Stevie. What an absolute star you are
  24. Just goes to show. It was the classy look that attracted me in the first place! I have a MB amp needs a repair but I would only get it fixed to sell it. Given that it may sit in the for sale section for days on end and I'd have to invest to get it repaired it doesn't seem worth it.
