1.
I'm happy that the OP was delighted with the music coming out of the radio and the bass tone contained within. And it seemed to be a self contained, non-projecting personal opinion too. Why some knuckleheads can't resist turning it into a P vs. J thing then a P vs. everything else thing is beyond me
because J's are clearly superior!
 2.
Jazzes are clearly for the more intelligent, discerning type of individual.
definitely this and they are so much more versatile too
 3.
I know! I can't believe it!
this will require pic/video postcards from Brazil you understand !!

 8.
Basic rule of thumb for bands. Dress the same as your audience only 10% more so (unless you're Mr Dick Venom).
you saying i should wear the wedding dress AND the tiara?
 9.
Genius. Utter genius. Is there not a website dedicated to Joni alt tunings?
http://jonimitchell.com/music/tuningpatterns.cfm
 10.
Wicked thread..love Franks music. Some his solos on his lendary SG are my all time faves...his solos seem to have so much WEIGHT!!... I'm thinking Zomby Woof/ Montana on Overnite Sensation...totally kills.
not to mention watermelon http://youtu.be/B9DqykUsqRY

 14. why laziness? it could be lack of confidence to go out and gig? not insurmountable at all just needs a bit of focus and direction
 15. Anyways ... Back OT. I do agree KevB all my favourite Jaco stuff is with Joni There was a thread on here a while back about JM re her interview describing Jaco and her comments about him were very sympathetic and she certainly did appreciate just how much he suffered from the tortured artist syndrome amongst other MH issues and gave him space to do his thing Interesting to note that on live performances Pino chose to replicate the Jaco lines. Ery closely (the japan performance of Hejira springs to mind with Wayne shorter in the pinewood trees !) and personally i agree it's a perfect bass line and is integral to the song
 16.
I think I'm gonna have to be checking out more of her stuff . One of my first bass tutors gave me a copy of Hejira ages which I've still got and think is amazing. We watched a live film last year in a lecture, but apart from the 'Both sides now' album, that's my only exposure to her.
you much variety and quality to catch up on then!
 17. He bought her a diamond for her throat He put her in a ranch house on a hill She could see the valley barbecues From her window sill See the blue pools in the squinting sun Hear the hissing of summer lawns
 18.
Joni Mitchell ? Quite simply , sublime. What is often overlooked about her is that she is an incredible singer from a technical standpoint - she seems incapable of singing off-key - and capable of effortlessly switching her vocal skills from one style of music to the next. Add to that natural, God-given ability her amazing craft as a songwriter and bandleader and you begin to see the monumental size of her talent .
yes yes yes all of that and where to start on the lyrics !

 20. on the heels of my Zappa thread, I thought how about a thread for any paraphenalia on the lady who is undoubtedly one of our era's most important and influential female artists not to mention the Jaco connection of course with that live band take it away!
 21. ten months? you could have reasonably had 8-10 gigs by now
 22.
Capo at first fret. Sorted.
yes and dont forget to hack out the inlay markers and woodfiller and redrill new ones in the new positions
The thing is I suppose it depends if you play 1 finger per fret
aaaaaaaaarrghhhhhhhhh
 23. it will help your sight reading and pitch too - most choral stuff is fairly easy reading to be honest tenor or bass ? - if you choose tenor it will help your reading with both treble and bass clefs
