1. I would have a look at the M Audio Microtrack. I have one, it is superb. Records MP3 or WAv, at various resolutions. Mounts to the PC via USB as a removable drive, for drag and drop storage. Cannot fault mine at all Cheers Chris

3. Hi I am thinking that I need to be trading my USA Jazz 4 string, black, black s/plate, and r/wood board. I am after a fiver or a sixer. I know that there are a few up for sale etc, but I want to be able to try basses before I buy them. so I am looking to see if there is anyone local to Nottingham (c 1 hour - I will travel). So anyone interested? Cheers
4.
Yup, and next to Mouse Mat World and Your Lawnmower.
"Your Lawnmower" is great You can't have too many old mowers (apparently) Coat...get...
5. I was thinking that maybe a different cab would be the first route to try.
6.
Mmm sounds like you maybe missing a bit of the Swr magic
hmmm tell me more
7. I have just rocked it at home for 15 mins - just the small cab, direct into the LMII. Sounded great, the Jazz was full and deep. the SR5 honky and versatile, deep to cutting. What am I on about then ? I am not unhappy, just curious. At the end of the day, I always have PA support anyway and DI with a radial JDI, so perhaps I am wittering about nothing??
8. Hi All Right, current rig is as follows: SR5, into LittleMark II, into Markbass Traveler 102P, or Markbass Std 102HF, or both. Now, I am not exactly "unhappy" with the rig - to be honest, it is really portable etc etc, and plently powerful enough I think, but I wonder if I might be missing something? Sometimes it seems like I am playing thought a blanket, if you know what I mean. The sound is very good, but possibly there is some clarity missing etc. So, just thought i would see if there was anyone who has used the MB stuff, and who perhaps had the same thoughts, and found something else to suit them? Cheers Chris

10. Just to reiterate my liking fo rmy Shure SLX system. I think I may be the only one on here to use it, but it is great. Sounds better than the Senn 172 (I a-b tested at home in my studio), hugely frequency agile, good on batteries (uses 2*AA), totally reliable, I have NEVER had any problems at all. I recommend it to anyone looking. Chris
11.
With any luck - my new rig (the rack at least , may be using generic cabs) will be in evidence at the Clarence Park Festival here in Wakefield on Sun 22nd July. We're doing a 40 min slot at 7.45 pm with our ZZ trib band 'Eliminator' All welcome - I'm the one in a ridiculous long beard fighting the Explorer!!!
what is your new rig to be , Dave?
12. the 102p is a great cab. I gigged last night with mine, and it was great again. It lacks a little on a B string, but in all trtuth you need no more as long as you have PA support (I always do). My rig is my monitor, at the end of the day, and it can get bloody loud.
13. I still reckon that proper low end all the way out into the room will need some PA support. Unless you have massive cabs, and then they will be too loud on stage.
14. I have found this fairly consistently to be an issue. Thus I use the PA. My rig is for the stage sound, and the PA is for the FOH. It works. But we all go into the PA, so it is easy. WIth a vocal only PA, you will be lacking any proper low end meat from the kick drum in medium to large rooms, and the only solution is a mic on the kick and snare, at which point the whole band should go into the PA anyway. Chris
15.
I'm writing a book on him and Nile Rodgers - it will have 20 transcriptions (bass and guitar) and hopefullly lots of detail - tricky, as you say, there's not a lot of info out there on him. STu
good move, put me down for a copy. Bernard is the MAN. and pmd too.
16. dont forget the digitech jamman too - I have one and it is fabbo
17. Well... 2 basses Amp Head Cab DI box Wireless Tools/fuses/batteries/cables That is it. 2 basses in case of failure of one. The PA is my amp backup - I could manage a gig if my head failed, as I go thru the PA anyway.
18. great suggestions above, and I wont repeat them. I am a fan of Bernard Edwards, and would champion For Once In My Life too. I would also throw in Dancing Queen. A hugely impressive masterclass in musical bass playing which flows and bounces along with nuances and a great "rubbery" feel. Brilliant.
19.
I'd seriously recommend you try to find a HH or HS SR5- I reckon that would suit you down to the ground- They do a really good jazz impression, it's proper cross between an SR5 and a Jazz. I had a lakland 55-02 but the SR5 HH does the best of both worlds thing WAY better and in a 34" scale.
cool, my options are stacking up and I will get back to everyone ASAP. Russ, have you got a HS or HH? Does it really do the jazz bass sound? I need something that will give a deeper sound than a normal ray?
20. Righty ho everyone. My Black USA JAzz four string needs to be swapped for a fiver of some description. Reason - I need five strings on my main band, plain and simple. So thus I always use my SR5, but for some numbers teh Jazz has a deeper more trad tone. Just seeing what is out there really. Mine is around 2001 vintage, rosewood board, black paint, black scratchplate. Full original hard case and all the gubbins. Would consider a USA Jazz fiver, or Lakland, or Warwick, or MM wiht 2 pickups (HS or HH) or anything really, but it needs to be a decent bass, in simliar good/very good condition to mine. Cash from me if required. SO, whatcha got? Cheers all Chris
21. If you liked the Stingray, get one. I am biased, as I seldom use anything else, but mine cost me £750, and it was a mint ltd edition too. I am sure you could pick one up second hadn as I did, for basically half price. Chris
