1.
My clear impression throughout this thread is that Wishface is in bad health. If true, it's not gonna help him if we claim he just can't be arsed. That said, I think WIshface should be open about this aspect - if applicable. best, bert
Fair play. Point taken. But still, it's going round in circles. Not my thread though so I'll step aside. If you ask for advice you need to be open to it when it is given, especially given the amount of people trying to help.
2.
I did not say adjust the truss rod or intonation, I suggested that you adjust your pickup so that you can get the balance across your strings correct. A loose nut is not entirely uncommon, and now that you have glued the 'bloody nut' back on, it should not come off next time. But again, I sense another lack of enthusiasm to act on a suggestion, and it appears that to do something 'properly', could infringe on too much of your time, so I'm afraid you are on your own from now on as far as I'm concerned.
To the OP - I'm in agreement here. This is all great advice. Take it. Or pay for a proper set up. And if you don't like it then, trade it. End of. Hope you sort it out. I'd do it for you but notts is too far. It's simply not a crap bass. I've gigged on a £100 Squier and it was fine.
3. It looks ace, and these are great. The opportunity to buy my Abm head back proved too much for me though..sorry
4. OK, offer me up ffs! It is on Ebay and it ends Saturday (I think) - it is as new and it needs to go....I'll end it for the right offer, I can only say no..
5.
Who else wished they had this bass, a tuner, a box of tools and a set of new strings in front of them right now?
This
6. The chap has now filled the post, thanks
7. Not my band, been asked myself but cannot do it. Standard covers stuff. Decent Fee (£160 I think). IF interested I will pass your details on. Chris
8. All I know is that when my ABM 500 comes back to me it will be pumping out big fat old school analogue watts he he he
9. 2 together is MUCH better than one...
10.
Would you consider selling them individually?
Not sure actually. I have got a new head incoming, so I am going to see how it sounds with these. I might let one go, we shall see.
11.
But, assuming most class-D manufacturers are doing what TC do, i.e. being economical with the truth, isn't it time they followed EBS's lead, and stopped inflating the ratings?
Yes. Completely agree. I have stopped worrying about claimed power. If it does the job then it does the job.
12. Ooooo might be interested. What is the tonal footprint of this? Or in less flowery terms what's it sound like guv?
13. I did a duo gig for a mate of our singer. He did it free and I assumed I would get £100 ish (normal min per man private gig rate). Got £50, and had turned down a £200 per man dep gig to do it. The key is communication here. Our band mates rate is £400 ish. 5 piece. Less than half our normal function or party rate.
14. My dad took me to see Steeleye Span. Still remember from age 12 the massive sound of a full PA. But my proper first gig I went to myself, Big Country, 1986, rock city Nottm. Stuart Adamsom, Bruce Wataon, Tony Butler, Mark Brze.... Awesome.
15. Bump - new price. £120
16. Million dollar question. I know now that it is not the Streamliner sound, having sold mine. Clear, clean, versatile, ability to put out some top end, and take a distortion pedal.
17. Good work chap. Why was the wood free?
18. Look at that BADBOY!!! How can I afford this? Hmmmm. I'll have a think. 2 Vanderkley 112 ext cabs in a deal? Just thinking...
19. Hmmm maybe I should try a markbass head into these?
20. Not tried either. BUT I am a massive Yamaha fan, and have two 6 string guitars. One is a Pacifica 812, decent, but the other is an early 80's SA2000. Everything about this guitar screams quality. It is the best guitar I own, and is worth WAY WAY more than the £700 I gave for it 15 years ago. So, based on this, and the fact that they look the dogs, I would get a 2024/5 in a heartbeat.
21. That will do it. Nice one.
22. Couple of pics from recent gigs. I can obviously do more hi-res ones, but take these for the moment. Chris
23. Okey Dokey. These are ace. Bought new by me this year - one in March (I think) and one just now. Both have roqsolid covers. Very very nice full sounding cabs. New price incl covers is £590, I will take £420 each, or offers. Would also trade for something Barefaced (one or two of my cabs), or a Precision or Stingray or GandL of some sort (4 or 5 string), and am also interested in Ashdown ABM cabs. Will trade singly or both, I'm open really. Based in Nottingham. Chris
24. To make matters more interesting I actually use 3 fingers on my plucking hand, sometimes strict alternation, sometimes raking. I play classical guitar, so this is pretty natural to me, and to use Doddy's phrase, leads to good economy of motion. I would not necessarily advocate that everyone use 3 fingers, but try it. I think it is Gary Willis who is an absolute BEAST in this respect - I think he uses 3 fingers, maybe more -youtube him up, and prepare to throw your bass away.
