Traded Vanderkley 112 EXT Cabs - Sale or Trade
nottswarwick posted a topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Okey Dokey. These are ace. Bought new by me this year - one in March (I think) and one just now. Both have roqsolid covers. Very very nice full sounding cabs. New price incl covers is £590, I will take £420 each, or offers. Would also trade for something Barefaced (one or two of my cabs), or a Precision or Stingray or GandL of some sort (4 or 5 string), and am also interested in Ashdown ABM cabs. Will trade singly or both, I'm open really. Based in Nottingham. Chris -
To make matters more interesting I actually use 3 fingers on my plucking hand, sometimes strict alternation, sometimes raking. I play classical guitar, so this is pretty natural to me, and to use Doddy's phrase, leads to good economy of motion. I would not necessarily advocate that everyone use 3 fingers, but try it. I think it is Gary Willis who is an absolute BEAST in this respect - I think he uses 3 fingers, maybe more -youtube him up, and prepare to throw your bass away.
You don't need big hands at all...I have normal sized hands and do this all the time and there isn't any compromise to my plucking fingers. All you are doing is moving your anchor point, which gives less strain on the hands and wrist, and then rather than tucking your remaining fingers into your hand you open them up a little to touch the strings. There is no need to contort your hand or wrist-in fact you can keep them straighter than if you anchor your thumb in one point.
This And I sometimes rake and sometimes alternate.

Turned it on in time for Monkey Wrench (been out giggin) Sounds good. I love Taylor Hawkins as a rock drummer. Love playing a coupl of theirs in a band I drum for sometimes. Tonight however he seems to be trying harder than usual to destroy his kit. Settle down my man.

I'm with Doddy on this one. Take a listen to some Classical Guitar music and hear some devastating free stroke single melody line speed too. For me at least, free strokes lend themselves to arpeggio playing (again c/f classical guitar), whereas for single not lines (ie most grooving bass playing, fast or slow) free strokes are the way. Not the only way, granted, but the accepted method I would say.

P.A. What does your band use? And is it any good?

When we change (the fifty line is old.....) I think we will go for a 4 box system - RCF 7 series tops, and some matching subs, whatever they may be. -

Weddings functions etc. Db fifty line 6 box active rig. A an H mix wiz 16 chan desk. Db divx active monitors. Easy to set up and use and sounds decent. Not the best but does a decent pro job -
So the little mb200 was unbelievable. I ran my mxr m80 in front of it for some drive on some songs too, but either clean (mxr totally bypassed) or with a bit of drive it absolutely rocked. Seriously, it is nearly as loud as my old stm 600 - useable clear loudness with warmth and bite. My vanderkley cabs are pretty efficient but honestly it's all you need for most gigs. We are a loud covers band. Always use pa.support but still have a big stage sound. Going to get an mb500 or maybe an rb700 or 1001.

Fusion sounds nice in the demos. Only £480 at thomann. How is the build in comp to the mb 200? My 200 is fine just does not feel that substantial.
-
Mb500 even cheaper. Tonight sees a wedding gig. Rig will be mtd kz4 (with modded Bart pups and pre), Mb200, 2 x Vanderkley 112 ext cabs, 1 x gramma pad. Past experience says it will be loud enough. If I dig the tone, I will be close to getting the 500. Only other thoughts at this stage are mb fusion or EBS reidmar. I'm not sure about the fusion as my streamliner was too warm so it might not be for me. I love the price of the mb500 and the reidmar. We shall see. Interesting times anyway.

Do they sound similar to the rb series?
-
In fact depending on how it is with my cabs I might get the bigger version.
-
Lol I thought the same when I got mine. Having just sold my streamliner 600 I'll be using mine on my gigs this weekend. 4 ohm load essential though to get the 200 watts. I did a few gigs with it a 4 ohm EBS neo 15 and it was ace.

Class D. Going back to the traditional ways now...
nottswarwick replied to Clarky72's topic in General Discussion
Just to be clear I am assuming we are talking about heads with the digital switch mode power SUPPLY modules, and not those with a digital power AMPLIFIER section also? The lm2 an 3 have dig power supply but analogue power amp section for example, while the f1 has both digital supply and amp sections. Just think we need to clarify, as it seems it must be the supply unit that is leaving people strangely dis-satisfied?... -
Bassist and Guitarist Needed for Genesis Cover Band
nottswarwick replied to superjx10's topic in Bassists Wanted
Presumably then on some numbers both players will be on guitar, with one of them also playing bass via these organ style pedals? -
I have a policy of charging students the full amount if they cancel within 24hrs of a lesson. That usually ensures I'm not left waiting for someone who has no intention of turning up...! My view is that if someone wants to pay me to show them how to tie their shoelaces, then thats what I'll do :0)
This. I operate the same policy.
Haha! Yeah...nice one! In the words of Charlton Heston... “Go forth and proclaim liberty throughout all the land, unto all the inhabitants thereof.” No...wrong quote... “from my cold, dead hands.”
indeed. Well, you know, someone will be selling one...somewhere....even if it happens to be a shop lol. Possibly another lining of Bass Direct tills.
