1. Not my band, been asked myself but cannot do it. Standard covers stuff. Decent Fee (£160 I think). IF interested I will pass your details on. Chris
2. All I know is that when my ABM 500 comes back to me it will be pumping out big fat old school analogue watts he he he
3. 2 together is MUCH better than one...
4.
Would you consider selling them individually?
Not sure actually. I have got a new head incoming, so I am going to see how it sounds with these. I might let one go, we shall see.
5.
But, assuming most class-D manufacturers are doing what TC do, i.e. being economical with the truth, isn't it time they followed EBS's lead, and stopped inflating the ratings?
Yes. Completely agree. I have stopped worrying about claimed power. If it does the job then it does the job.
6. Ooooo might be interested. What is the tonal footprint of this? Or in less flowery terms what's it sound like guv?
7. I did a duo gig for a mate of our singer. He did it free and I assumed I would get £100 ish (normal min per man private gig rate). Got £50, and had turned down a £200 per man dep gig to do it. The key is communication here. Our band mates rate is £400 ish. 5 piece. Less than half our normal function or party rate.
8. My dad took me to see Steeleye Span. Still remember from age 12 the massive sound of a full PA. But my proper first gig I went to myself, Big Country, 1986, rock city Nottm. Stuart Adamsom, Bruce Wataon, Tony Butler, Mark Brze.... Awesome.
9. Bump - new price. £120
10. Million dollar question. I know now that it is not the Streamliner sound, having sold mine. Clear, clean, versatile, ability to put out some top end, and take a distortion pedal.
11. Good work chap. Why was the wood free?
12. Look at that BADBOY!!! How can I afford this? Hmmmm. I'll have a think. 2 Vanderkley 112 ext cabs in a deal? Just thinking...
13. Hmmm maybe I should try a markbass head into these?
14. Not tried either. BUT I am a massive Yamaha fan, and have two 6 string guitars. One is a Pacifica 812, decent, but the other is an early 80's SA2000. Everything about this guitar screams quality. It is the best guitar I own, and is worth WAY WAY more than the £700 I gave for it 15 years ago. So, based on this, and the fact that they look the dogs, I would get a 2024/5 in a heartbeat.
15. That will do it. Nice one.
16. Couple of pics from recent gigs. I can obviously do more hi-res ones, but take these for the moment. Chris
17. Okey Dokey. These are ace. Bought new by me this year - one in March (I think) and one just now. Both have roqsolid covers. Very very nice full sounding cabs. New price incl covers is £590, I will take £420 each, or offers. Would also trade for something Barefaced (one or two of my cabs), or a Precision or Stingray or GandL of some sort (4 or 5 string), and am also interested in Ashdown ABM cabs. Will trade singly or both, I'm open really. Based in Nottingham. Chris
18. To make matters more interesting I actually use 3 fingers on my plucking hand, sometimes strict alternation, sometimes raking. I play classical guitar, so this is pretty natural to me, and to use Doddy's phrase, leads to good economy of motion. I would not necessarily advocate that everyone use 3 fingers, but try it. I think it is Gary Willis who is an absolute BEAST in this respect - I think he uses 3 fingers, maybe more -youtube him up, and prepare to throw your bass away.
19.
You don't need big hands at all...I have normal sized hands and do this all the time and there isn't any compromise to my plucking fingers. All you are doing is moving your anchor point, which gives less strain on the hands and wrist, and then rather than tucking your remaining fingers into your hand you open them up a little to touch the strings. There is no need to contort your hand or wrist-in fact you can keep them straighter than if you anchor your thumb in one point.
This And I sometimes rake and sometimes alternate.
20. Turned it on in time for Monkey Wrench (been out giggin) Sounds good. I love Taylor Hawkins as a rock drummer. Love playing a coupl of theirs in a band I drum for sometimes. Tonight however he seems to be trying harder than usual to destroy his kit. Settle down my man.
21. Used it again last night, and it was once again totally awesome. It performed as me DI box into the desk, and mostly was set on in bypass mode (transparent and clean), but the distortion came in handy too. Sounded great. Bump. I will entertain offers prior to ebay. chris
22. I'm with Doddy on this one. Take a listen to some Classical Guitar music and hear some devastating free stroke single melody line speed too. For me at least, free strokes lend themselves to arpeggio playing (again c/f classical guitar), whereas for single not lines (ie most grooving bass playing, fast or slow) free strokes are the way. Not the only way, granted, but the accepted method I would say.
23. When we change (the fifty line is old.....) I think we will go for a 4 box system - RCF 7 series tops, and some matching subs, whatever they may be.
24. Weddings functions etc. Db fifty line 6 box active rig. A an H mix wiz 16 chan desk. Db divx active monitors. Easy to set up and use and sounds decent. Not the best but does a decent pro job
