1. Why is he using a plec though? Sure, I use both plec and fingers, as the song demands, but Jackson 5 with fingers surely. He has a nice fingerstyle technique too.
2. Update bump. Possible trade on the horizon, but does anyone want to buy one or both outright for cold hard cash?
3.
If you don't like it, why not leave?
To be fair, I have no idea.... Hope you get it sorted anyway.....
4.
You lot have the patience of saints
Absolutely. Mods, lock it.
5. To be fair, and I know this is not gospel, but I don't often play up beyond the 12th on the low E. I does sound a bit weird, and your hand will feel uncomfortable that high up on the low E. And please everyone, I know it is possible to play up there, but I have no idea of the OP's playing ability. I just know that I am a bass teacher, and that while I can do it, I know it takes alot of practice and experience for it to be natural. I would be interested to know how it feels between 3rd and, say, 7th fret.
6. I say to the OP with the best of intentions - are you confident that you have followed all the advice given competently? No offence intended, but if you can confidently say that you have, then the thread is over, as the bass is a pile of cr*p. But I suspect that you might not be able to answer "yes" in which case, outside help is required. Or just stick it in the for sale ads and someone will buy it, and then you will be able to replace it with something that you like..... All the best Chris Edited for spelling
7.
Cobblers, there people out there playing pro gigs on basses that cost a fraction of yours. Get your bass set up properly.
Exactly. I've played loads of gigs on basses with a new price of about £200. This can be made to work. I will only accept that it cannot be improved once a pro setup (either paid or by a member here) has been carried out. Until then, this thread is sadly going around in circles. All the best with it. :-)
8. mmm nice. Sorry - forgive my ignorance - what is the pickup, a USA Fender one? What pots were put in please? What is the neck profile like on these too? Thanks Chris
9.
Hmmm, looks cool.....but bit over my price range, although would like a 1x12 at the mo. Hmmmm Si
Go on, you know you want to. pm.
10. One sold pending, one still available!
11. I'm on my mobile and can't see your location - where are you? Might you be prepared to ship the cab?
12. I've got too much cash tied up in admittedly great gear. And I need a towbar on my car too...
13.
Shame im not closer to Notts!
What you thinking?
14. Tonight I WAS the dep drummer. And obviously I was awesome.. Seriously, eye contact, any strange arrangements talk them through, and off you go.
15. Trade the cab for anything?
16. New prices and trade option, modified again.
17. Why am I drawn to this??? Damn it. Don't need it...
18. Well I've just bought my ABM 500 head back a year after selling. Says something I'd think...
19. It's only a question. Come on, this bass needs sorting properly. Ideally by a pro. There is not much else to be said.
20.
My clear impression throughout this thread is that Wishface is in bad health. If true, it's not gonna help him if we claim he just can't be arsed. That said, I think WIshface should be open about this aspect - if applicable. best, bert
Fair play. Point taken. But still, it's going round in circles. Not my thread though so I'll step aside. If you ask for advice you need to be open to it when it is given, especially given the amount of people trying to help.
21.
I did not say adjust the truss rod or intonation, I suggested that you adjust your pickup so that you can get the balance across your strings correct. A loose nut is not entirely uncommon, and now that you have glued the 'bloody nut' back on, it should not come off next time. But again, I sense another lack of enthusiasm to act on a suggestion, and it appears that to do something 'properly', could infringe on too much of your time, so I'm afraid you are on your own from now on as far as I'm concerned.
To the OP - I'm in agreement here. This is all great advice. Take it. Or pay for a proper set up. And if you don't like it then, trade it. End of. Hope you sort it out. I'd do it for you but notts is too far. It's simply not a crap bass. I've gigged on a £100 Squier and it was fine.
22. It looks ace, and these are great. The opportunity to buy my Abm head back proved too much for me though..sorry
23. OK, offer me up ffs! It is on Ebay and it ends Saturday (I think) - it is as new and it needs to go....I'll end it for the right offer, I can only say no..
24.
Who else wished they had this bass, a tuner, a box of tools and a set of new strings in front of them right now?
This
25. The chap has now filled the post, thanks
