1. A band member of mine once refused to play a cover of the Rutles Goose Step Mama. Obviously a very tongue in cheek song to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqPY9juPZHE

3. I've heard tung oil or gun oil works well. Don't think you need to lacquer. I'm sure someone will be along in a min with a more informed answer.
4. I can take or leave Zep but the Sabbs are another kettle of fish. One of my most enduring bands. I keep returning to them time after time. IMO the intro to War Pigs is one of the greatest pieces of music ever. There was a documentary on a few years back called "innovators" (i think) and they prayed the into to War Pigs against a back-drop of grim looking Birmingham hi-rise estates, as one of them stated, they're not from California so aren't going to write tracks about flowers and love. They are a total groove machine, check-out the break from Hand Of Doom. Lost interest after Ozzy left as they seemed to take on the identity of whatever band the new lead singer had just left.
5.
I saw them at the Roundhouse on Thursday night. What an inspirational, terrifying, emotional, intense, violent, spiritual, heavy-as-fook band. That is all.
was there also mate. they put on a good show. sound was a little disappointing though geordie's guitar sounded like mush but the drums sounded great. always good to hear them play Love Like Blood though I believe it's usually played for a fallen friend.
6.
Always a possibility.... But the way I interpreted the vid as well was that it was somewhat critical of teachers. Personally, I think they get enought flack.
wasn't the album supposed to be autobiographical (Roger Waters) so I think the lyrics come from individual experience rather than general comment.
7.
If I had to be critical though, I'm not a big fan of the Wall. Mainly because the lyrics annoy me. 'We don't need no education...' all very well for them to say that, but they all got a bloody good education didn't they? But I digress....(as usual!)
and wasn't it the mega-rich Lennon that said "Imagine no posessions"
8. I get it at least once each time one of my projects rehearse. It's that feeling of us all being on it and the sound balance is just right. It's hard to beat.
9. Maybe look at the criminal justice bill and it's effect on the rave scene of the late 80's early 90's.
10.
For that sort of dirty accusations, he almost certainly owes you a free practice at least!!
+1. If he wants to you to keep handing over cash to him. What a jerk.
11. Somehow drummers can manage it and they've gota lot more different things going on. If you know what I mean.
12.
Was working through Time for the gig next week last Sat morning (Epsilon @ Holbrook Club Horsham if you're interested BTW) and when we finished the drummer said something along the lines of "that Nick Mason's a lazy ****er. Only plays kick & snare in places" which the keys followed with "Rick Wright's not doing a great deal" to which I added "...and most of the time the bass is playing one note/bar" (at least on the songs we are covering) HOWEVER I should add that all agreed that be that the sum of the parts was still huge. Got to enjoy a bit of Pink Floyd....and I do both listening & playing. Most taxing bit for me on Time is the intro where I'm being the clock on the bass and playing the bass on the bass pedals
Nick Mason, Lazy? Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH2HaZInOK8
13. I am like you mate, can't do it to save my life. How the likes of McCartney and Lee manage is beyond me. If you listen to Thin Lizzy, it seems that Lynott tends to play simple root style lines while singing and plays his runs between vocal lines.
14. Was going to suggest The Chain but it's already gone. How about Once In A Lifetime - Talking Heads. Rock-solid 2 note groove.
15.
I had a drunk at a wedding party try to put a flower behind my left ear. He missed & the stem went straight in my ear & ripped through my ear drum.
ouch!
16. My hearing's been screwed since my eardrum burst twice as a child due to severe ear infections. 10khz was my best shot.
17. Does anyone know if you have to use the dedicated behringer expression pedal or would other expression pedals work?
18. Makes me feel a bit sad this. Only 'cause it looks like there's a Vox Supreme in the background, I had to let mine go for a pittance a few years back as I was in desperate need of cash. Great footage though.
19.
Just been told. http://www.marseilleonline.co.uk/
Nice one. enjoy.
20. We used to use a studio in Balham that had shockingly poor equipment. Dodgy wiring meant amps would frquently cut-out and the people running the place would just suggest giving it a bit of a wiggle. One time we spent about an hour trying to find a guitar amp that worked at all. Another time, the girl who was looking after the place decided she needed to pop to the shops so locked everyone in this place with the fire hazzard of dodgy wiring. When she returned we gave her sh*t and never went back. We have now found a really cool place in Camberwell with excellent equipment and decent people who know how to respect and look after stuff. Shop around.
21. Totally agree, in fact had to check it wasn't me that made the original post except for the part about Curtis Mayfield. For me, "once in a lifetime" talking heads
