Excellent videos - thanks for the links. I find this stuff fascinating. Regarding earwax...I had to have my ears syringed after I managed to lose almost all hearing. I had felt that there was too much wax in there and had tried to clean up myself. In the shower, I put my finger in there and scooped out lots of wax. I was, unknown to me, also pushing it further and further in. Within a week, I was almost stone deaf. We tried putting in some special ear drops and then showering it using water but with no joy. I had to go to the doctor. By the time I was there, I was so deaf that underground trains entered stations in near silence. Needless to say, I had to be collected from the waiting room as I couldn't hear my name being called. The doctor pulled out lumps and lumps of wax. The first one was brilliant - there was even a squeaking noise and a rush of cool air and I could suddenly hear again. "I can hear!" I said in excitement before the doc sharply told me to keep still. I asked for a look at the wax (as you do) and, all in all, the lump from just one ear was the size of my little finger; a mixture of red, brown, yellow and green with flecks of black. I left the surgery amazed. My ears had adjusted and now everything was painfully loud and remained so for a couple of days.

Remember to take a pinch of salt with you when reading about woods and neck types. Dig enough and you will find someone talking about a dark sounding maple body or a heavy piece of swamp ash etc. I have a neck-through bass made of mahogany and wenge with mahogany wings with a maple cap. I think this would be a great combination for a neck-through. It is a top of the line Ibanez from the mid 90s. I have another Ibanez with a bolt-on neck which, whilst being mostly the same, feels very different. I prefer the neck-through. A 28" radius sounds uncomfortably flat to me. I believe that Ibanez do 12". But to be honest, I think you should be talking to the builder about woods and construction styles.

To stir things up a bit... I can see how someone can feel insulted by a very low offer. It suggests that the seller doesn't know the value of the item and is a mug. I have not had a very low offer on anything I have sold online, so I don't know whether I myself would feel this way. I had a stupidly low offer via phone once, but I said no and ended the conversation without feeling insulted.

Great pics - thanks. What type of filler is the brown gunky stuff? I'm having a hard time locating some rosewood-esque filler and am about to do this too. Edit - never mind. It's in your other thread. PVC mixed with sawdust from the 'board. I was going to do the same and have a load of sawdust saved.

I occasionally use the DI from it to a small mixer and then the headphone out on that for quiet practice. But I mostly use a Line6 Pod. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and the marketplace here often has a couple up for sale. I used to have a Toneport (required a computer) which was great, but I find that the Pod XT Pro (rackmount) is better. It can be connected to a computer for easy patch editing but can be used by itself. It's a fantastic piece of kit.

The local market was flooded with similar cars (mileage, condition, age etc) all priced and selling at a grand less than he wanted. Furthermore, I have no real idea that he sold it at his asking price. I fully understand market value and all that - don't worry!

I offered a little over market price for a car that was advertised about a grand too expensive. The seller freaked out, accused me of insulting him, betraying him (?) and then emailed me later to tell me that he had sold the car at his asking price and without some of the extras he had offered me. Then, to make it all the more amusing, he contacted me a couple of weeks later to offer me another car he had bought on the cheap. And he wanted too much.
