Not my kinda thang but it looks well made and good value for money - that colour scheme is superb, love that dark green burst.
Hi Nick, The Park Venue, Peterborough Friday 15th May I didn't know you knew Russ as well as knowing Lee.
I've known Russ for many years; we played together in a prog rock band called `Cross Eyed Mary' which never got beyond rehearsals in '92 - great guy and great player - ask him about Miller! Lee is of course one of the area's leading exponents of the drum kit! -
Thats not a wig....... This is a wig......
Are you referring to the chest wig or that placed atop of the pate!??? Hehe! Calm daan, calm daaan Should be adding to my collective on Sunday with a very unusual early '90s Series II Matrix - thanks Barrie!!! (will be in touch via pm) -
Bloody hell Nick! Did you dive onto the PC just after I left?! Oh blimey, forgot to ask you about whether you had and cheap MIDI interfaces in stock too...
Oh yes, straight online m8! Not sure whether the boys stock anything like that - will ask 'em! Cheers

Having just spent some time with Steve in my studio, this bass has to be seen to be believed! Superlative (or should that be `shukerlative'!). Nice to see you again m8! Nick
Ok, I have ordered up a set of DBE Elites 40-100. I have another question.... The 4 screws that hold on the access cover for the tuners also hold the tuner assembly to the body of the bass. I assume then, that I should slacken off all the strings before removing this cover.... In order to take the tension off these screws? (Does that make sense?).
Hold on thar sir! Theres no need to remove the cover plate - simply slacken the strings using the `tuner' knobs and the jaw that holds the string in the bridge will appear at the `front' of the assembly - lift the string out and then replace with new one!

Might well have been my good mate Alan Jones - will ask him next time I see him; he did a lot of work for Ronnie Hazelhurst, including the Wogan show. Alan played on thousands of sessions, he provided that lovely opening riff on Taggart's theme.
As they are hand wound in the UK I'd guess Newtone makes them. Newtone are great strings. Peter
Not sure who makes them - however, if Newtone do, then they've improved a million percent - tried some years ago (circa '95, purchased from my good friends Jon and Dave at The Embassy - what a great place that was - they fuelled my GAS big-time!) and they were not that great to be honest!

Thanks Ray! All the best! Nick
isnt the idea that more brands and types are available at sale prices being single ball seems like a good idea to use single ball for that if you can
I'd personally go for double ball ends, speaking as a long-time Status player... Best to get in touch with Status - their own brand `Hotwires' are superb strings and can be purchased in bulk hence cheaper pricing...

Velly intellesting! Looking at the scratchplate, you can see who inspired Marcus Miller...! Whilst in this particular arena, if anyone has an Electra MPC they want to flog...!

Allo! Met Ray today at Trowell services to exchange my wad of cash for his Markbass TRV 121H bass cabinet - the deal lasted for approx 2 minutes; sorry that we did not get chance to have a chat Ray as a full-on Sunday lunch was being organised 80 odd miles away! My front room now looks like a Markbass main dealers! Ray is a really nice guy! Cheers! Nick

Status bass - upgrade wood neck to graphite ?
doctor_of_the_bass replied to Jambo63's topic in General Discussion
Simple advice... go graphite! Cheers! Nick -
Aww! Just literally (or is that litearally!) got back from hospital - still alive! The surgery was actually undertaken from the outer ear so the removal of the mastoid infection was done without having to drill loads of it out from behind the ear - the new `temple-skin graft' eardrum is in place and packed so should have a better clue as to whether the hearing comes back in 3 weeks time! Thanks for all the wishes - really appreciate them! Am staying with relatives for a few days but will be back online later this week! Stay tuned! Nick

Hallo Paul! That actual bass is perhaps the best Precision I've ever played - I set it up for Al, the previous owner and it plays like butter! The tone is articulate and powerful, almost verging on a StingRay for power! Cheers!
-
Stunning! It looks very similar to a bass owned by a German bassist called Hartmut Engel, which was featured on the Pangborn tribute website that I was involved with before the net was invented! http://www.geocities.com/yobrode Did it belong to the bassist with `Cutting Crew' - I recall seeing him on TV with one many years ago. I've got four Pangs at present; two Warlords, a Warrior and a Cheiftain. I would hang onto it personally - but if you ever decided to sell....!!! Cheers! Nick

Allo mate! Welcome home son! Paul is a diamond geezer - he has just bought the world's best Fender Precision - bless ya! (he's saved my life as it would have caused me to miss paying some essential bills this month!) Nick (yes, its me, Nick Smith!!!)
As to the rest of you who are trying to comdemn those members who are challenging the idea, I'd much rather be told my idea is flawed and has a good chance of turning out to not be what I'm expecting, along with the area's I need to rethink, than to be slapped on the back by a load of yes men who really wouldn't give two shits if it ended up being useless and costing me a fair bit of dosh and time. Shame on you methinks.
Have you had a bad day mate? Are you suffering from any kind of stress (that is a serious question by the way)?
Cheers jman. The pickups were originally Nordstrand Dual Coils, but we ran into some issues with them so we custom ordered the Kent Armstrongs. The sound is now a smidgen fuller, whilst retaining the throaty prominent and crisp sound it had originally. Mark
Congrats on a fine bass sir! Kents are superb - a very transparent sounding p/up - love 'em!
