1. Thanks - even more so as I have now dropped the price to £100!
2. Thanks Grangur Yes near Loughborough in Leicestershire so I guess if someone was looking to trade I would be looking to travel say about 30 mile radius unless of course they come to me Cheers
3. Squier Standard Jazz Bass 4-String Bass Guitar Pewter Metallic with matching coloured headstock and made in Indonesia. I believe the Standard Series used to be the next ones up to from the cheaper Affinity models and were introduced in 2001 but I believe now discontinued. I am selling as I recently purchased a Fender Jazz MIM and so this one is now surplus to my requirements. Good condition but a few buckle marks on the reverse, plays and sounds well and was my back up bass at gigs. I was asking for £120 but now £100. In my quest to try other basses I would possibly consider trades with cash either way – especially Gibsons and Epiphones - so try me. Collect or meet up locally only in view weight and no case/gig bag. Thanks for looking and please contact me with any questions

5. I bought this wine red Yamaha BB414 early this year on a bit of the usual gas/whim and apart from a needing a very good clean and some new D’addario strings it was, and now is, in very good condition with evidence of very little use. I was informed when I bought it that it was made in 2005 which seems about right. These really are underrated basses and it is comfortable to play with a fast neck and a deep Precision sound. Also the P/J setup is excellent giving more tone options and the bridge pickup is unusually the same volume as the neck pick up. Very similar to the current BB424 but with, I believe, a slimmer neck and no string through option. Average weight about 8.7Ib according to my luggage scales. I did originally prefer it to my MIM P Bass but then I bought a wiring kit from Kiorgen which improved by P Bass that I now prefer the Fender, well at least for the moment. I see no point of keeping two basses that have very similar sounds and as I now have a bit of a gas for a Gibson EB bass or Fender japan/US Jazz I have decided to sell the BB414. Looking for £150, which appears to be the going rate, although can add cash to trade up to a Gibson bass or Fender US or Japan Jazz. I would also consider a Epiphone T’ bird classic, with the Gibson pick ups, or may be something else Collection only from near Loughborough although happy to deliver if nearby. 6. Still for sale? Will you post with or without neck off? Cheers
7. This is a good price for a Thunderbird - have a bump on me I have a number of basses and this one is still my favourite. It excels when playing with a pick and has a very clear tone sound up the top end of the fretboard unlike my Fender, Squier and Yamaha which all sound twangy. It is also my lightest bass and easy on my back. In fact I am tempted to buy as a back up!
8. Is the cab still available? Cheers

10. Ordered P Bass wiring loom Sunday night and arrived first thing Tuesday. Easy to fit with a logical no solder connection but more importantly the tone has improved and I have now have more growl. Not only that but the tone control has gone from providing a muffled bass to a shrill treble to being able to dial in a usable tone from both ends of the knob. A great improvement and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks John

Fender MIM
I have a 60th anniversary MIM Precision. The pickup was a bit weak, so I changed it for a US jobbie. I also changed the pickguard, bridge (for a BadAss 3) and tuners (Hipshot). It still doesn't match my Warwick, but it's my first reserve.
Hi GregBass I have a great MIM precision from I think 2003 with a lovely neck I prefer to the U.S. versions I try out in local music shops. I did try swapping the pick up for Seymour Duncan SP3 but I found it too boomy and preferred the stock MIM but I wonder if it is worth trying the U.S. stock pick up. Did it make it much difference to the tone when you upgraded it please?
12. Is this the one made from brass? If so is that just the saddles? How much is the postage per chance? Thanks
13. Picked up a BB414 off eBay for £148 plus £20 P&P the other day after a fellow bass chatter showed me his BB 614 and hold me it was his best bass, and he had five others including Warwick. So,preferring a passive bass, I bid for a 414 not expecting to get it so cheaply and voila! It was in excellent unmarked wine red although I don't think it had been played for ages as strings had signs of rust and fretboard dirty and dry but after a bit of 000 steel wool and some lemon oil on the fret board and a good clean and polish and new strings and set up it is now like new. These really are underrated basses and I have a plan to buy as many as I can before they are recognised for their true worth and their values rocket!. It so comfortable to play with a fast neck and a deep raspy sound and whilst similar to my MIM precision it has a deeper tone. Also the P/J setup is excellent giving more tone options and the bridge pickup is unusually the same volumes the neck pickup. Mind you I still marginally prefer my Gibson T'Bird it is just second and I suspect when I have a chance to use at band practice I will prefer how it it sits in the mix. Problem now is I am gassing for 1024, having tried one in local music shop. The question is though will I tell the difference back at home? Could I just put on 1024 pick ups and keep the 414, which imo has a easier neck to play.....and how would I explain another bass to Mrs S if I bought a 1024.
14. Hmmm - Just worked out about £126 inc postage. Perhaps the cost will come down over time.
15. Just found this across the pond although someone may have already posted this. http://www.fullcontacthardware.com/fch-3-point-four-string-bass-bridge-gibson-style Look likes as fitted to the new Gibsons and certainly looks like it fits better than the Hipshot Supertone and will improve string adjustment enormously. I want one but just trying to work out cost. Anyone know if uk distributor/retailer?
