1. Just bought some strings off Mr Clarky and he included a free gift! More than generous! As always a pleasure to deal with.
2. Dave's a great bassist on both upright and bass guitar plus he's a really nice bloke.
3. Freind of mine fancies these Clarky I'll p.m. his details
4. Looks great!
5. This Sunday at City Vaults, 33 Hustlergate, Bradford BD1 1NS Tenor saxophonist Tina Featherstone with the Andy Cholerton Band
6. Best sound I got on my NS CR4 & NXT4 was with Obligatos. Don't have either bass now. Wish I'd tried Kolstein Heritage, they're amazing on my Yamaha SLB's
7. I could do with trying something new on my French bass which has 42 1/4" scale and a 10" afterlength so if you think they'll fit I'll give 'em a go.

10.
And the bass - oh wow. It is gorgeous. Loud. Great sustain. I am thrilled to bits.
I did try and talk you out of it so I could keep it for myself Sarah
11. It was a pleasure to meet the lovely Sarah today. She made the journey to Harrogate to try an Old German flatback I was selling for a friend. After a thorough examination of the instrument Sarah decided to buy it and It's now on it's way to Cardiff. A smooth transaction throughout. Enjoy the bass Sarah
12. Sold, on it's way to a new home in Cardiff
13.
at the F position, the curve up to the headstock makes the dimension bigger there, confusing the issue I think.
I should have specified the thinnest point around F shall we start again
14.
Er, I'm using a tailor's measure but having trouble with imperial... At the low C, the neck of my NXT5 measures 5 inches and 2 whatever-they-ares (apologies, I'm serioulsy useless!), which in "real" measurements (LOOOL) is a circumference of 13.5cm
That's slim for a 5
15. I had a V shaped a few years ago. It was awful, I removed the pointy bit and it became more of a U shape My favourite acoustic at the moment is my French bass which has a U profile i.e. narrow nut but deepish front to back. The Yamaha's have the best EUB neck's IMO
16.
I've got to go looking for my other two but right now the Bryant and Upton are 5 3/4 and the Kolstein Travel is 5 3/8.
I'm surprised that the Kolstein is 5 3/8 when the Eminence feels thicker at 5 3/16
17.
I don't know where F is on my EUB so I'm no help at all, it varies
As long as you're enjoying playing it that's all that matters
18.
My German flatback: 6 & 1/3 inches
Wow! Clarky has largest so far
19. That's fairly meaty
20. Over the years I've owned at least [s]17[/s] 18 different uprights, both acoustic and EUB's, no two have had the same neck profile or fingerboard. As you may have seen in the for sale section I've got a mates bass which has a beefy neck that I'm liking. So just out of interest I thought I'd measure around the F on the E string and compare it with others I have around. I found the best way was to cut a 3/4" strip of A4 paper, slide it under the strings and wrap it round marking the point of overlap and then measure it with a ruler, if that makes sense. German Flatback - 6 1/8" Slb100 - 5 13/16" Hungarian - 5 3/4" SLB200 - 5 9/16" French - 5 1/2" Eminence - 5 3/16' How do yours measure up?
21.
rofl lmao
You rolling on floor laughing your ass off?
22. There's a guy fairly local to me was using a "blockless wonder" haven't heard from him for a while I'm enjoying playing on it, the set up isn't by any means final, I just picked a bridge that was lower and fitted the top, put the sound post where I thought it should be and tuned her up. It's the fattest neck I've ever played & could be just right for me
23. HI Daf, I wondered about that, it defo has a block, could be a later addition, looks newer wood been peeping inside with mirror & torch and all repairs seem professional with neat cleats etc. there are no open seams or cracks just been having a play with lower action, it's lost a bit of the massive thump as to be expected but the potential is there. I'm quite liking it
