I'd be sure to check out modular rigs too if I was you. Turns out, Jon likes to let the bass sit for as long as possible to make sure it all settles in fine, he just didn't tell me that, so I was champing at the bit, much like you probably are too. There's loads of things that can effect how good a B-String is, not just scale length, although, that is the most obvious contributing factor. Quality of construction, strings, break angle over the bridge and nut etc all come in to play too. It's an endless argument though... All I know is, I went for a 33" as I ain't the biggest of guys and the B string is as good if not better, than the B on many other high end basses I've played, that I don't care to mention, including one 36" scale! The upper register of the bass is a lot sweeter and warmer when compared to XL scale instruments, which is a nice bonus too. I 'spose like the single cut design itself, it's totally marmite, love it or hate it! Cheers, Eude

Worked great with my Thumb Bass though... I'm looking for a big thick wall of sound type fuzz, like the bass sound on the Karp album, if any of you have heard it, which the Sansamp can't do anyway, as far as I'm aware. Cheers, Eude

I contacted Rondo Music about the short scale Jaguar Bass they did recently, they're not going to make them again till next year, but anyway... Well I gigged with my new mini rig on Friday night and it was brilliant! I know because of it's limited size it wouldn't cut it by itself, however I was only planning on using it as a stage monitor at bigger gigs anyway, which is how I used my old Trace Elliot combo, using the amp's DI to go to the PA. One thing that I noticed myself and which was commented on by my band mates was how clear the bass was. I had the cabinet about 2 foot off the ground and I was standing right beside it, I could hear it fine as could everyone else including the drummer who was actually sat behind it! Even better, I found out that all this was without the Bass coming through the monitor mix too! Oh and I didn't even have the volume close to half way either. So I'm bascially very very chuffed. Looking forward to trying it out support from a PA. I reckon adding another GS112 cab would make this mini rig a force to be reckoned with! Oh and here's a little pic for y'all. Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm going to try the Danelectro French Toast and if it's worth it, I'll re-house it for a bit more road worthiness, anyone got any tips for doing something like that? If that fails, then I'm just going to have to find a decent guitar shop with a decent selection of pedals and just noodle for a while till I get the right one. Also, on my travels I found these guys [url="http://www.happyrobotmusic.co.uk/pedals.html"]Happy Robot Music[/url].
