Works well with an Active Bass! That's good news! I think Mr. Happy Robot is about to recieve an email from yours truly. Is this getting a little over the top? Custom Bass, Custom Fuzz Pedal.... Where will it stop!? Eude
the fuzz is nice, i got the one with just the volume control sounds very decent when put through the gt6b's eq, makes up for lack of tone control im actually very tempted to sell my woolly mammoth, as this happy robot fuzz sounds almost the same as the sound i use the woolly for interesting
Nice one Kev, I might give one of these a try. Think I'll get the French Toast anyway, as they cost peanuts. Did you buy the fuzz from ebay or direct? Cheers, Eude
i will be expecting delivery of my happy robot bass fuzz tomorrow, il let you know what its like
Nice one dude, I'd really appreciate that! Having checked his site out, he's done some pretty freaky noise generator stuff and it looks like he's up for trying out different things at the customers request... Might be nice to see if he could do a bass fuzz with volume and blend controls... Eude
  5. Well I gigged with my new mini rig on Friday night and it was brilliant! I know because of it's limited size it wouldn't cut it by itself, however I was only planning on using it as a stage monitor at bigger gigs anyway, which is how I used my old Trace Elliot combo, using the amp's DI to go to the PA. One thing that I noticed myself and which was commented on by my band mates was how clear the bass was. I had the cabinet about 2 foot off the ground and I was standing right beside it, I could hear it fine as could everyone else including the drummer who was actually sat behind it! Even better, I found out that all this was without the Bass coming through the monitor mix too! Oh and I didn't even have the volume close to half way either. So I'm bascially very very chuffed. Looking forward to trying it out support from a PA. I reckon adding another GS112 cab would make this mini rig a force to be reckoned with! Oh and here's a little pic for y'all. Thanks again for your interest guys, I'll keep you posted as I use it in different situations and when I get another cab! Cheers, Eude
The French toast won't break if you don't re-house it. It just "feels" flimsy. I've had mine on my board for at least 3 years, it must have done 100 gigs at least, with me stamping on it. I've never had any issues with it that weren't psychological.
Wow! The pedal can cause psychological problems! Looking forward to getting my mits on one now! I reckon re-housing would be worthwhile, for me anyway, as careful as I can be, I can't vouch for our lead singer who has a habit of landing on my pedals or tripping on my leads, so better safe than sorry I reckon, either that or build a ring fence out of cattle wire to protect my pedals... Cheers, Eude

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm going to try the Danelectro French Toast and if it's worth it, I'll re-house it for a bit more road worthiness, anyone got any tips for doing something like that? If that fails, then I'm just going to have to find a decent guitar shop with a decent selection of pedals and just noodle for a while till I get the right one. Also, on my travels I found these guys Happy Robot Music. They look pretty interesting too, seen them on "Buy It Now" on ebay for £35 to £40... Cheers, Eude
  8.
I may be selling a Danelectro Black Paisley, which is full on bonkers fuzz. But can be "refined" too. If your interested, let me know.
Hey bud, I might be interested in this come payday. Consider yourself PM'd... Eude
  9. Thanks d-basser. It went well, so we'll be back through again soon. My wee sis has very kindly offered to skoot round all the decent Glasgow venues (a lot's changed since I lived there) and hand out our wee press kit thing, so fingers crossed we'll get a few more gigs too. Cheers, Eude
  10. Holy crap that's gorgeous! Jon's even got branded hiscox cases now? Very nice. If that bass sounds and feels even half as good as it looks you're a very lucky man! Uber congratulations! Eude
  11.
whenever i need distaution i struggle. adding distaution simply saps all the bass out of my bass , are there any pedals that add more bass while adding distaution / fuzz?
He bud, I'm no expert, but there's a load of pedals out there designed to combat that problem. Bass specific distortion pedals with a blend function so you can mix your clean signal with a bit of dirt. Boss, DOD, Digitech, even Berhinger do them. There's also a few pedals out there that work well just by pure fluke like the EHX Big Muff. I'm sure some folks will chime in here, there's a lot of people on here that love distortion! Hope that's some help dude! Eude
Seriously try those two danelectro mini pedals if you get the chance. I know it sounds like a budget-only option, but, IMHO they are very cool pedals, especially on bass.
Cool, I will do mate. Seems I just missed a Zoom Ultra Fuzz too, bu**er! That French Toast is dirt cheap >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/danelectro_dj13_f...artner_id=59917 Roll on Pay Day! 13.
Guys - it's here !!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at work - very close to where I live, so I wrote on a note stuck to my door that I was working in the back garden, and would not hear the doorbell, so would they kindly ring my mobile. When I got the call, I practically jumped out of the nearest window at work, into the car and drove like Jason Bourne all the way home. The delivery chap looked a bit bemused to see me drive up, but I signed for it and took it inside. Took photos while opening it....it's really fabulous. The neck feels amazing, the spec was just right, So comfortable. The finish is fab, LEDs look ace - I haven't plugged it in yet, I'm now back at work. Luckily I have a gig tonight and monday so can give it a stretch out! And on the way back, got a call from my wife telling me that she passed her Citizenship Test - she's American - which is step one to getting her Indefinate Leave to Remain. Good news all round. I'll try my best to get pics up later- but might be difficult, as I'll be out. Thanks for all your counselling over the last seven months! A very happy Mike!
Congratulations Mike, well done for hanging in there too. Can't wait to see some pics and get a bit of feedback of those Nordstrand pickups, see if they're worth the wait! Cheers, Eude
Well, I think it's sh*t, but other perople might disagree, maybe you should still try it if you had the chance, but I think it's unlikely you'll find it good. Best Fuzz (that's not Zvex and therefore is affordable): Zoom Ultra Fuzz UF-01 I also like Frantone fuzzes (which sound like nothing else), and the Skreddy Mayo, which sounds like an old triangle Muff. Still, you can get that sound with all the controls on the Zoom AND with more definition.
Col man, thanks for the advice guys. It's definitely Fuzz I'm going for here. I do love dirty bass tones, but I've not really found any tube emulation that does the job properly yet, so all out baws to the wall fuzz is the way forward for me just now. I'll check these pedals out and see what I can come up with. Eude
  16. Right guys, Got to use my Mini Rig of Doom in anger last night and it was great! I've not managed to have the volume much past a baw hair in my flat so it was a real treat. I used it in our regular rehearsal space, Banana Row in Edinburgh, instead of the usual Ampeg Head and 4X10, and what a difference! Sound wise, the Mark Bass head is so uncoloured and clear. Volume and projection wise, the Aggie 1X12 was amazing, especially considering the size! It was sat directly on the floor and really shook the room. When I A-B'd it with the Ampeg setup the one thing that stood out was the clarity of my new mini rig. The Ampeg sounded overly middy and muddy by comparison. Overall Volume wise, I know the Aggi 1X12 would wimp out before the Ampeg cab, purely because of speaker area, but it certainly punched well above it's weight! The Little Mark through the Ampeg 4X10 was a mean combination, but again, lost a bit of clarity due to the cab. Got a gig tonight in Glasgow, so I'll be able to let y'all know how it performs in a live situation very very soon. Cheers, Eude

    Thinking about Muffs

Cheers for the input guys! Think I may have dodged a bullet there! Shame the Metal Muff is s**t for bass, I'd assumed that because it was an EHX Muff it would offer up decent fuzz for bass, oh well... I 'spose I might be in the market for a decent fuzz pedal for bass then, any suggestions? Cheers, Eude
i dont think the old skool black ones are very sought after, despite it sounding very similar if not the same, cant rememer if they changed the circuit or not. id expect under £100 if in mint condition
Thanks for that dude, That's way more than I ever would expect for it anyway though, I didn't think it would be a collectors item or anything. I was thinking less than £50 odd... So you tried the Metal Muff Kev, I've noticed from your posts you like your distortion/fuzz. Cheers, Eude
  19. Hey guys, looking for a bit of advice. I'm currently using an old school Russian Big Muff, the one with the "pie" symbol, not the dark green one though, the kind matt black one, batteries only, OK OK - I'll get pics up soon... Anyway, I'm very happy with the sound, but I'm drawn to the shiny new Metal Muff with Top Boost, the one with two buttons. Has anyone tried the new Metal Muff with bass? Any idea how much my old Muff would be worth, it's in absolutely perfect condition. Cheers, Eude
  20.
Hey Eude, I'll keep you all posted I believe I bought a Thumb BO 5 (wenge neck) from you, feels like ages ago! That bass kicked major bottoms, but really too hard to play for me in the end. That little monster is in good hands now, and it's seeing some serious live action!
Ah right, how you getting on bud? The ol' Thumb Bass is a funny one, a bit of a marmite bass, I was just so used to it at the time, but after I got my custom Shuker with super-slim neck I couldn't really go back to it. Alan will make you an incredible bass though, he's really talented and a really nice guy along with it! I don't reckon I'll be going any other way but custom from now on and when I can finally afford it again, I'll be chapping at the door of AC Guitars for sure! Cheers, Eude
  21. Sweet sounding bass dude. Looking forward to watching this one! Cheers, Eude
  22. That's gorgeous mate - bet it was worth the wait! Eude
  23. Holy crap! That bass is gorgeous! Is it a special edition? I've never seen a Black DJ with a maple neck and blocks. Oh, and I'd go with the black scratch plate by the way. Cheers, Eude
  24. Nice one dude, that'd be great. You can have a wee go too!
