3. What a beautiful bass
 4. Well after thinking about it overnight last Tuesday and Wednesday morning I ordered the Harley bass late on Wednesday and got an email this morning that it's been dispatched I figured if I don't like it or it's rubbish I can send it back and search again for a bass, tell the truth I just really like the look of the bass so I went for it, nothing ventured etc. Anyone else ordered via German websites and found that it takes a few days for payment to clear via a VISA debit card ?(I bank with Santander), the amount seemed in limbo for a few days and not available, does it take a few days in Euro countries for payments to clear? I'll post some pics etc. and may even do a playing vid (which should be worth a laugh for you lot!) when it's delivered, unpacked etc John John

 7. Damn didn't know he had passed away, loved the TIN DRUM album went it came out, sad loss, thanks for reminding me what a great player he was
 8. His early stuff was great, Billion Dollar babies is an amazing album but he seemed to lose it a bit after the Welcome To My Nightmare record, some of his more recent stuff isn't bad, I have the AC greatest hits CD on my iPod and when you listen to that it makes you realize what great songs he has released, saw him live in the 70's and he was great and again in the late 90's at Wembley Arena and he still had it live John
 9. Schools Out for Alice Cooper for you then !! John

 22. My local Boots the chemist does prints from memory cards, phones etc., you can either do it via the till or actually do it yourself at a PC type printing machine, I'm sure most other Boots offer the same service John
 23.
You never know. I've got a friends Marshall that looks similar vintage but is only 30W and 2x12, and is really not that good (lots of issues on the PCB, now sorted) but it is loaded with 2 Celestion Greenback speakers, the "vintage" ie '70s ones are quite sought after by guitarists and go for quite good money.
Thanks for the reply, I'll the the back of and check the speaker make when i get a chance. John
 24.
I've had people asking me about buying their first instrument (in the land of the blind and all that). I usually advise them to take a bass playing friend with them to check out the instrument. Basschat might be a place to meet a bass playing friend if you don't already know one. I'm not sure that all the Harley Benton's are rebranded Shines. Some of the 'modern' ones, and the McCartney bass look very much like Shines. But, the new models and the J, P, basses don't match any Shines that I've seen. (Which doesn't mean that they aren't Shines). My policy too. My theory is that beginners should get something that's playable, and not too expensive. Then, worry about getting the 'right' bass at some time in the future when they're more competent. It may be a chicken and the egg situation where you can't choose the right bass until you're more experienced, but you need a bass to get experienced on. What helped me a lot early on is that I was recommended to go to the Lakland site and listen to their bass demos. That showed me what basses of different types (p-bass, j-bass etc.) sounded like, which helped me narrow down the choice a bit. And I heard what good quality basses sounded like, so I could estimate how good sounding a cheaper version was in comparison. http://www.lakland.com/audio.htm
Had a listen on that link, that's a great idea, thanks John
 25.
Another good reason to buy a Harley Benton is thomann have a good return policy you don't like it send it back.
That's what I have been thinking as well, seems a good option, think I might leave it a few days, keep checking what I have been watching on Ebay, keep checking on BC and if nothing happens order the HB next Monday Thanks again for all the advice/opinions people, it's been nice to read what people think The search continues John
