1. Hi - Rumble suggested I post in here about my non-working bass amp, see my reply to Rumble below and I've also attached some photos, any clues/help/advice on getting it going ? Also any idea what it's worth working/not-working? Thanks John "Hi Rumble and fellow SE Londoner - can't believe that's worth anything, It's my fault it's not powering up at least!, I dragged it in the living room yesterday and it powered on fine but the input jacks were not working, took off the back panel to see if I could see behind the front control panel for loose wires but could only see the speakers, I then fiddled about with the fuses at the back and now it won't power on, don't know why I just didn't leave it alone !!, what an idiot "
2.
Might be worth posting a topic in the repairs section John, there's some pretty smart folk on here that might be able to help you fix your broken amp.
Good idea, I'll do that Thanks John

6. Hi Folks I'm John and live in SE London on the borders of Blackheath/Lewisham, played bass many, many years ago in my teens and early twenties but stopped when I got married and started raising the kids Recently got back playing on my old six string Yamaha Pacifica which I have had for many years and I'm looking to start bass playing again, went to Eric Lindsey Music in Catford (nearest shop to me via a walk) today with my youngest son Joe and tried a few basses (a Fender Jazz bass & an Ibanez SR500) which was an experience, I had forgot that the frets on a bass are quite a bit bigger than a normal electric 6 string! but it was terrific to play a bass again The two basses above are a bit out of my range at the moment but I quite like the look of a Yamaha RBX170 or an Ibanez GSR180/200 or a SR300) as they are something I might be able to afford in a few months Anyway I better stop prattling on. See ya John
7. That's a beautiful Bass Guitar collection, you are a lucky man John
8.
Jaco's not above criticism - no-one is. I have a lot of respect for him, but I don't really listen to a lot of his stuff. I've got the Joni Mitchell records. For an idea of how Jaco handled more straight-ahead rock, look up All American Alien Boy by Ian Hunter (it was on YouTube, but it's been pulled).
I'm a big Ian Hunter fan and the All American Alien Boy CD has Jaco all over it, great bass playing, JP even plays lead guitar on a track, Ian Hunter has nothing but good things to say about Jaco John
9. Dan Armstrong bass guitar for sale, this is a London model made between 1972-75, I bought it new in either 74 or 75. It is the short scale model with a sliding pick-up and a mahogany body, the guitar is in excellent condition and never been gigged. Vintage & Rare Guitars in Denmark Street London sold the last one they had of this for £850. It comes complete with a case with is a bit battered due to my dog Rosie ripping of some the case covering and chewing off the handle when I lived at my mums years ago – BAD DOG ! See pictures attached, I’d prefer collection only but open to other means as well. I live in South East London. Link to the Dan Armstrong site http://www.danarmstrong.org/londonbass.html PRICE £600.00 (I’m open to offers) Thanks John
10. Thanks for the replies chaps, decided to try and sell on here and if nothing happens I'll try Denmark Strret at a future date John
11.
very sought after bass. dan armstrong was (is? i think he's gone now) an absolute legend. is there a serial or date?
No serial number (looked under the truss rod plate last week where they were sometimes hand -written) but from the Dan Armstrong website they were built between 1972-75, I bought it new in 74 or 75, a mate bought a 6 string plexiglass model at the same time, great guitars. John :-)
12. Emailed Vintage and Rare Guitars in Denmark Street, London and they told me the last one they sold went for £850, going up to the shop tomorrow to see them. John
13.
Nice bass! I've always fancied one of these after briefly owning the guitar model in the mid 70's. Dan Armstrongs appear to vary greatly in value - I've seen them go for anything between £400 and over a grand. The Jack Bruce connection is always a help,( especially with rich collectors who willingly snap up anything remotely Cream related) so good luck with your sale. (Maybe try a for sale post on here?)
Thanks for the advice and the info., I'll have a scout around the net for more info and maybe then try to sell on her. Cheers John
14. I need a bit of advice, I'm out of work at the moment due to a medical problem and I;m thinking of selling my bass, problem is I don't know what it's worth, anyone on here give me an idea.. The bass is a Dan Armstrong London bass with a sliding pick-up, it's the short scale model with a mahogany body. Hopefully I'll be able to buy a cheaper bass if I can sell the DA. Thanks John
15. Thanks for the welcome John
