The only people who've ever approached me with the "where's your other half?" attitude are female fans of one of the bands I play in. I don't want to seem arrogant but I can only think of one reason they say it None of my partner's friends or any of my friends have ever commented on it. She comes if I tell her I need the support (only happened once, my first ever gig on drums with a reggae band about 8 years ago)

you know the "drummers are crazy" stereotype? I think this might be the idiots with a kit who can play some "4 to the floor" in time with absolutely no feeling. I've met loads of these. They're usually absolutely mental and quite hard to get rid of once you've realised that they're not really musicians I've met the bassist equivalent too. Huge old full stack, can play root notes but lacks any feeling etc I'm sure there's the equivalent guitarists, keyboardists, singers. There's usually some sort of substance abuse involved, they don't listen to what anyone else is doing, and they're too loud. These people are not musicians!!!

I went for "a jam" with an original band that were looking for a bassist. They were pretty good, and I quite liked it, but I wanted to make it a bit more interesting. I explained that, and showed them what I meant with my chords and pedals etc. They seemed enthusiastic, kept inviting me back, charging me for the room hire, I think we did 4 or 5 "jams" and by the time I just figured I was a part of it. I never heard from them again! I texted and emailed but heard nothing until I got a random mailshot from them about a gig they were playing The bassist they actually went with was a much better fit, and a very good player, but it was pretty annoying

B is going to be more memorable, surely? But then A could turn into a lifelong love affair giving you happiness forever, where as B might just be the last gig before the frontman spirals out of control on a coke binge.

I play drums in a few bands. I only ever get bored when the song is rubbish, otherwise, playing a simple beat and listening to the rest of the band play a good song well is entertaining enough

There are no set rules. My instinct would be to try it with the compressor before it, and then the compressor after it. It might track better in one of these positions that the other, and it would be logical to have your pitch shifting before your delay and reverb having said that you might get some cool effects having it after the delay and reverb - you never know until you try You'll definitely want it before the looper, for obvious reasons

Saturday night at The Station in Ashton near Manchester. A tiny pub packed with pissed up punks throwing beer and vegetables at the bands. It was an experience!

I got them to take the bass out of that wedge, but that was with the better soundman

could you not just get an attenuator for your current rig?
