the quieter you listen, the less "bass" (I guess 40-200Hz) you'll hear. Without changing the EQ at all, but simply by turning everything up, you'll hear more bass. Combine this with the fact you're monitoring on headphones which will have a totally different response to your amp and cab in a room a distance away from your ears, you can see why what you're trying to do is actually impossible.

A couple of festivals - brilliant on Friday night, ace sound, great venue, great audience. Saturday night was a similar sized affair but the stage was tiny, I managed to whack my head on the lights a few times, only the kick drum was mic'd up on the kit but even that wasn't cutting through... still, appreciate little audience and I got to see Lozz's band Knock Off play their last few songs - Tight as can be and a brilliant sound from them (they were on a different stage)

www.headsticks.co.uk I did it with the guitarist doing some of the graphics. I host it with 123-reg. I don't think it attracts attention from promoters or venues, but it's popular with fans to find gigs, and to buy tickets, music, or merch. We do quite a lot of sales though the site.

sounds cool, great playing too! When you say they're better than the stuff you get as standard in DAWs, which DAWs have you tried? And do you think you're just finding it easier to get the result you want with the Waves plugins? As in it would be possible to do with the built in VSTs but it might take you longer? I stopped adding VSTs to my system a couple of years ago as I found I was messing about too much switching between different EQs or different Compressors, rather than just using the tool in front of me to do what I want. I do love the idea of SSL channels in my DAW though

Rebellion festival yesterday. We were first on in the arena stage. It's such a good festival but I had a wedding to attend the night before, and my lift had to shoot off straight after so I didn't really get to experience the atmosphere much, or see any other bands. Anyway, it was ace, great sound guys, great gear, I'm on drums and the shared kit was freshly skinned and well tuned which is brilliant

no the ADA8200 has pre-amps in it (much like your mixer) but outputs each channel individually in digital data via the ADAT link into your interface A mixer is generally used to mix multiple inputs down to one or two channels - E.G your live PA. You don't want to do that as you want to be able to process each channel individually after you've recorded I do actually use a mixer in my studio, but I take the Direct Outputs of each channel, and feed them into my audio interface which can accept up to 24 analogue inputs, so I'm not really using the master bus of my mixer

I wouldn't know if it'll overheat sorry. I've never had a problem and used to push the same (Boss) PSU to the max. It might be worth getting a better PSU anyway as you'll then be able to expand in the future

some will work but with weird artefacts. My DD-20 seems to work fine but all the lights go off - if I don't have enough current on the daisy chain A lot of pedals are rated with a higher current than they really need If it sounds OK and works - who cares?!

It looks like you have a 2 channel interface already. You need an interface that can record enough channels. For each mic you also need a pre-amp. You can get interfaces with built in pre-amps, which is probably the most cost effective way for you to go. There are loads to choose from. Also some of these new digital mixers tend to have USB for multi-channel interface - I think the Behringer X32 does this? For drums, I like 1 mic on the kick, 2 on the snare, 1 for each tom, 2 overheads, 1 or two room, and occasionally a hi-hat mic. Figure out the number of channels you need and then look for an interface to match. The Tascam US-16x08 looks like good value to me! I'm not sure whether you'd want thunderbolt rather than USB - don't know much about Macs, hopefully someone else will help on that front

Wistful festival - small affair in a barn, way too loud but people didn't seem to mind, we played well and they were shouting for more Some of the "fans" are getting a bit too familiar - before we played one of them pulled my hair, and another called me a c**t when I refused to kiss her!

I just use a guitar wah as I have a lo-passed clean blend on my whole effects chain ...I use a Zvex wah probe which is kind of gimmicky but I'm very used to it now and it sounds ace. I've also really enjoyed the Boss AW-3 with EXP pedal although don't bother since my cheap EXP pedal broke

I think when people say it, they're talking about some "overplaying" which is not serving the song. This could be an unnecessary drum fill for example. The band would say "You know, sometimes less is more". The producer would say "leave that sh*t out!"
