1. I think so. 1000 Ma = 1 A as far as I know so you'd be fine. I'd look it up before you plug it in to be honest because my brain is untrustworthy.
 2.
Good wide string spacing, a thin neck (thumb to fingers) & a three band preamp. Nice woods too!
Surely for a thin neck you need thin/tight string spacing? I have a "Brice" bass that I got from rondo music on ebay about 6/7 years ago. I wanted a low B to add to my band's sound, and I figured I might as well get the high C just in case. I had played one Schecter 6 string in a shop before and liked it, and being young and stupid I figured all 6 strings must be the same. Anyway, the Brice I have is a nice bass, very nice to play, good tone. I have flat on it at the moment just to try it and it feels very good. I suppose it has "wide string spacing" but I wouldn't know the exact details. I saw another Schecter on Ebay about 2 years ago, I think they have RRP of £700ish and this one was £350 because it's a factory second. I couldn't resist! So these are my only two basses now, and I really like them both. To be honest, they both feel just as nice to play, but the schecter looks, and sounds a lot better. I'm sure the "build quality" is far better etc, but those kinds of details don't bother me. The only other 6 string i've ever seen in stoke was a tobias, which I really didn't like. The neck was too thin and the action too low and it sounded too "barky".
 3. Check the V and Ma ratings, and the polarity sign on the back. Use only a PSU that matches. Oh, also whether it's AC/DC If you have a supply that matches all of it's spec, then it will work, you dont need the official thingy.
 4. Well i'll have my car and if it's only 5 minutes drive and I have decent directions I wouldn't mind getting someone from the station.
 5.
From what are gather from the above and some PM's from Charic, I need: An audio interface (which I think is like a box with wires coming out of it) Some software (that might come free with said audio interface) A laptop/PC (got that) And I can get drum lops and stuff from a variety of places (online, front of some magazine, in the butchers next to the "special" sausages) I can I also get a cheap dynamic mic to mic up my amp If I don't want to DI straight into the Audio Interface (the box with wires). Let me know if this is right so far, or am i missing the point. Also can anyone reconmend some decent and (more importantly) easy to use software. Been told Cubase is a bit crap.
If you want to record mics, you need either a standalone mic pre-amp, or an audio interface with a built in mic pre-amp. If the interface was firewire it could be better than USB, depending on how much you get into it and whether or not your computer has firewire capabilities. Aside from that, you have it spot on. Software is where you have difficult choices to make. I recommend stealing as many different DAWs as possible to see which one you get on with best.
 6. I would leave the gear at the venue and pick it up the next day.
 7. I'm deffinitely going. I don't know if that'll help the cause or not, but it'd be nice to see some more enthusiasm on this thread!
 8. Oh so it's you mods who are deleting all the porn? B*stards.
 9. I would have the limiter right at the end.
 10.
Cheers again that sounds like a plan. Is it worth trying to use both channels?
I think it is. Try it and see what you think! You would need something to blend the two channels together at the end of the chain. You could have one set to harsh compression, and one set to almost no compression - more punch!
 11. From Wikipedia, which shares my understanding of a side-chain: Side-chaining uses the signal level of another input or an equalized version of the original input to control the compression level of the original signal. For sidechains that key off of external inputs, when the external signal is stronger, the compressor acts more strongly to reduce output gain. This is used by disc jockeys to lower the music volume automatically when speaking; in this example, the DJ's microphone signal is converted to line level signal and routed to a stereo compressor's sidechain input. The music level is routed through the stereo compressor so that whenever the DJ speaks, the compressor reduces the volume of the music, a process called ducking. The sidechain of a compressor that has EQ controls can be used to reduce the volume of signals that have a strong spectral content within the frequency range of interest. Such a compressor can be used as a de-esser, reducing the level of annoying vocal sibilance in the range of 6-9 kHz. A frequency-specific compressor can be assembled from a standard compressor and an equalizer by feeding a 6-9 kHz-boosted copy of the original signal into the side-chain input of the compressor. A de-esser helps reduce high frequencies that tend to overdrive preemphasized media (such as phonograph records and FM radio). Another use of the side-chain in music production serves to maintain a loud bass track, while still keeping the bass out of the way of the drum when the drum hits.
 12. I think "side chain" is an input. You use it to trigger the compressor. I think you need a splitter, which would be good anyway, you could use a crossover and turn your two channel comp into a 2 band compressor.
 13.
everthing origional just the neck plate has been changed for a different 3 hole type
14.
Seems BC needs a forum for the under 12s.
I think that's a bit harsh. I haven't been posting here because I know absolutely nothin of Jeff Berlin. However, the accusation that anyone who doesn't like the attitudes he portrays and/or disagrees with him is just jealous, is far more childish than disagreeing with his attitude to the point of dislike IE I haven't seen any evidence of jealousy of JB, just people saying "he's single minded" "he thinks he's always right and no-one else is" etc. Pointing out his sh*t taste in trainers could be called childish, but it's obviously meant in jest.

 16.
Yes, I agree, but I've been noticing a big trend lately where there's an increasing number of f*ckups by companies who don't give a sh#t! Look at the time/hassle/stress the OP has gone through. With SC now long gone, there's no excuse not to be using your local music shop. D.
My "excuse" is my negative bank balance and reluctance to face the populus of Stoke. Some online retailers are good, and others are bad. It's not as though they've formed a cartel of bad customer service, they're still all in competition and competition should force bad retailers to improve or close.
 17. Where in cheshire are you based?
 18. Before our drummer left, and I was actually playing my bass, I was 100% happy with my tone(s) and my ability. I think I could have got the same result with different gear, but it worked for me, and every time we played a gig it felt euphoric.
 19.
Sorry to be blunt, but next time, go into a shop and buy/order it! D.
You should be able to order online without any issues, as many of us have many-a-time.
 20. My whammy XP-100 does a good Tool chorus sound on the detune setting. I would agree with Les Claypool and Dirk Lance - both very much influenced my use of effects. Obviously the bassist from Muse, and from RATM also.
 21. Do they mean 8 x 9v with 500ma each? Or 8 x 9v sharing 500ma? The latter wouldn't be great!
 22.
...anyway. Let me clarify that only money will be accepted
Ahhhh BALLS. Nevermind
 23.
wow i really gotta get me one, sounds like a giggle
+1 I want pics.
 24.
Now I'm really getting worried... Warwick's are nice, but not that nice.
I'll shave and put some make-up on. I can look just like a girl minus the t*ts. You've never had a BJ quite like it. Come on, you know it's worth it.
