1. This is interesting for me too, as I'll be keeping a nice cab in my workshop while I'm not using it, due to space issues at home. It has a Roq Solid cover and although the workshop is cold, it doesn't go below 0 degrees. Definitely no rodents, but I'll be sure to acclimatise it before playing.
2.
That concern is valid. Cold speakers don't work to spec, and it takes a long time for them to warm, as the insulation inside them works like a cooler. So long as they're stored above freezing you're OK, but I wouldn't store them where it goes below freezing unless they'll have a few hours to warm up before using them.
Hi Bill, Would playing them too cold mean lack of optimum performance, or actual risk of damage?
3. Post deleted. Please ignore, can't actually delete on my phone. This post exists, but shouldn't.

5.
Technology today should maor that pointless and cheaper. The 1000watt OTB is what, 6 kilos?
That's a whole other thread!*
ill admit its heavy, when you say worst features?
I think he means that it still has the weight of the AD, yet none of the benefits of big iron*. Lose/lose. *Many consider that a class D power section is inferior to a big heavy valve/mosfet one
6. Odd - What are those 'bits' all over it? It looks like a robot has sneezed on it.
7.
So everyone arrives for sessions, totally prepared..
9. Great page thanks. Must say, I prefer the Fenderbird
10. Anyone know anything about this rather 'interesting' bass? Did someone go nuts on a Thunderbird?
11. Oops! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/168704-sold-electro-harmonix-bass-micro-synthesiser/page__hl__microsynth__fromsearch__1
12.
Nice Gretsch, too...
Are they good? That's just the kit that the studio provides. It sounds nice enough. If you're into 'drum porn', his kit is, erm...red
Oh crap, you didn't get him something that makes a noise, did you??
Haha - his parents bought him an electronic kit for his birthday to reduce the noise levels when he's there. We're going to be in trouble ....
13.
So... There's an EBS Proline 2x10 up for sale in the classified sections. Rated at 400 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms so on paper it's capable of handling the SVT's output. Is this a good small-cab solution for pairing up, or am I just being barking? I quite like the idea of having a lighter cab than head...
The 400w rating will be a thermal rating ie it tells you how much heat the speakers' voice coils can handle as measured in watts, without incurring damage. This has no relation to the amount of power the speaker actually needs to reach its maximum mechanical output. I had the exact same idea once; I wanted a valve amp, but didn't want anything as big as a 4x10. I wrote to Hiwatt to ask whether they did a 2x10 that would go with their 200w head. Their reply was something to the effect of "No. If you put that head through a 2x10 the sheer pressure will blow the cab apart"
14. I wonder if it has two channels - a bright side and a dark side On a serious note - At that price point, Orange seem to be underestimating the competition... Wookie error
15.
Let's see his reaction Wednesday..?
He's extremely chilled, not exactly the excitable type. For this pic, I had to say "look excited and grateful" He was very chuffed though - he wasn't expecting anything at all from us.
16. Great price!! I'd wish you good luck with the sale, but I don't think you'll need it :-)
17.
Anyone know what it means to 'wind' neck or bridge pickups?
The pickup has two key elements; a magnet, and many turns of wound copper wire. In order to make the pickup, the copper wire needs to be 'wound' around the pickup's core. A 'Rewind' is where an old pickup gets the treatment again to rejeuvinate it. An 'overwound' pickup (I assume) is where it has had more than the usual amount of winding, to obtain a desired tone.
18. Have you seen the Meatsmoke for sale? 50kg! The same as my wife!
19. This may be of interest: http://www.attackmagazine.com/features/top-20-best-hardware-compressors-ever-made/
20. Yeah, of course I've tried that without success. The next step, before resorting to drilling, is to appeal to any potential Basschat knowledge
21. It's the glockenklang Soul. Umm, standard rack width, what's that? 19"?
22. I'm a big fan of the padded ply-lined rack bags. I have a 2u amp which is around 300mm deep, and has cooling fans on both sides. So, the predictable question is... Does there exist a 2u rack bag, shallow enough to perfectly fit my amp, but with side vents. I'm not too optimistic, so may end up drilling ventilation holes into the side of a case :-(
23. 6 for me. That chap on number 9 has lovely tone and feel
24. Agreed - don't use glue! I'd chat to the landlord, assuring him you'll only do two holes in a small area, and you'll fill the holes when you leave.
