1. Do we know how much musical input these legendary sessions musicians had on the bass lines they played?
  2. Just met up to Alain during my lunch break to purchase one of his custom ACG basses. He's been very patient keeping the bass for me until i returned from a work conference. The bass was perfect as advertised and communication was excellent. Very easy transaction, i wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Cheers Mark
  3.
Aren't all eq sections carefully designed?! Good luck with your sale bump.
Maybe not if it's an EBS feature!
  4. We use a Cymatic audio LR-16 which is an interface that can record up to 16 separate tracks onto a USB hard drive which you can then transfer to your software of choice. It uses the mixer inserts for its feed. They are no longer making them but they seem to be still available from some online shops. We record every gig and have got so used to it that none of the band even notice anymore, if we get even one great track from each gig then it's worth it.
  5. Mark popped round and bought my Spector this evening, simple hassle free transaction with good communication throughout. Great guy, trade with confidence.
  6.
I'm not 100% sure to be honest but i can try and find out. I do believe that they were introduced early in 2008. Leave it with me.
The serial number starts 0804 so that may indicate April 2008?
  7.
What year was it manufactured please? Cheers
I'm not 100% sure to be honest but i can try and find out. I do believe that they were introduced early in 2008. Leave it with me.

  9. I'm having to reluctantly sell my Spector Euro LX-TW Custom This is beautiful bass and sounds amazing with it's trimpot tonepump and EMG pickups. From what i'm lead to believe the Tonepump is actually a boost & cut circuit not boost only. It comes with a Gator hard case and Schaller straplocks. I received this in a trade from it's original owner who specked the colour and gold hardware. It's in near mint condition except for one little dink on the headstock which i have tried to photograph. 11. Recently reacquainted with this amp which I acquired around 30 years ago! I think it deserves a service.
  12.
A Babicz on an ACG? Different...
Yep, this bass was specked up by Drew at the GBBL. Would be interesting to see how it sounds with the usual hipshot bridge fitted.
Yep, give in now and just go for one. Merton, I've got a Skelf short scale (30.75") its a cracking bass.
I did give in, it came home with me!

Hmmm it looks like you ACG aficionados were right, one is never enough! I went to see Drew again at the GBBL This one has a very different sound with the split coil front and stacked coil bridge pickups, also it utilises a modded version of the East P retro pre-amp.
  15.
Just to confuse matters, Stingrays come strung with 45, 65, 80, 100.
Yes my bad. EB Super Slinky Bass 45-100
  16.
If you're happy with what strings you have and the bass is properly set up, then yes. When putting the same set of strings on then just simply change them one at a time. Remember that if you go to a different brand, you will need to do adjustments because the tension from brand to brand will be different despite having the same gauge. You will need to check the intonation of the bass occasionally, whether you change to a new set or not.
Yeah, this much i understand. But as an engineer i find it hard to believe that a luthier just randomly selects a gauge of string to put on their basses. I just couldn't help wonder if this is where some truss rod and neck issues start? For example if you have a slim neck bass that the maker has fitted with light gauge strings to make life easy for the neck. Then the buyer puts really heavy strings on because they are his preferred string but in doing this has to over tighten the truss rod to compensate for the difference in tension? Or am i just overthinking things?

    Spector
I have one of those and have never felt stretched with it. I've spent on decent straps lately which allow me to position a bass where it's comfortable.
I think it's that the strap button isn't over the 12th fret. The end result is that the first fret is a couple of inches further away and strap length doesn't seem to alter that, unless you choose to play like Bill Wyman!

Just acquired a Euro 4 LXTW through a trade. I really want to love this bass but the offset neck is causing me an issue by putting my wrist into an uncomfortable playing position regardless of how i have the strap set. I'm 6' tall but must have short arms or something. Like "Radiophonic" i can play my Stingray etc all day long but this bass is a real problem, i am persevering with it at the moment so fingers crossed!
  19. Crawford just bought my bass extender. Great communication and prompt payment. Deal with confidence. Cheers Mark
  20. Pete just purchased a Jazz pickup from me. Good communication and prompt payment, what more do i need to say. Cheers Mark
