1. Hey guys, girls Just looking through some pictures of last night's gig, and I noticed that in a few of them my wrist on my fretting hand is very severely bent. It didn't feel uncomfortable at all during or even after we played our two hour long sets, but I was just wondering if it looks alright to you all. Am I more likely to develop problems later on? Should I work on improving it at all? Does it look less cool??? Cheers
2. If you upload pics, make sure to leave the headstock out for copyright reasons Sorry to hear about your situation forcing you to sell this though mate!
3. I've used my Markbass F1 through a Barefaced Super 12 T when tuned down to A and it was monstrous!
4. I would have just taken my head and plugged it into the supplied cab
5. Glad to hear everything's working fine for you! It's always the obvious with me too! I remember pulling my hair out because my bass had low output and sounded really farty like it was cutting out... Turns out the active preamp just needed a new 9V *facepalm* Honestly, part of the reason I only use passive now
6.
If you'd been shunned by every female you'd ever met then you'd be able to.
Damn this hot body of mine!
7.
Krist on Nirvana's nevermind album has a great bass tOne come to think of it
Had this album on in my car recently and was amazed that I'd never noticed how great the bass tone was!
8.
that sounds good, but this might be better: Bass > Comp > Drive > Drive> Drive > Drive> Drive > Drive> Drive > Drive> Drive > Drive> Drive > Drive > Noise Gate > Modulation > Delay > Comp
Touché
9.
Hahaha I really don't understand this genre
Would love to be able to do that though

A mate of mine has these up on his kitchen wall! I think this is a much better use of them Certainly would be a talking point on a gig!
11. Peaveys are good! Even Michael Lepond from Symphony X uses em!
12.
I use a guitar compressor for some fairly heavy compression, and blend this with another chain which is mainly dirt. after a few more pedals comes a limiter. So, I can get the heavy punchy compressed sound, but also limit any peaks. I still have plenty of control over my dynamics too... So no, it's a great idea!
Cool I'm thinking this chain: Bass > Comp > Drive > Drive > Noise Gate > Modulation > Delay > Comp
13. Prog metal isn't as hung up on image as other subgenres, so literally anything you like!
14.
I use my multicomp on the end of the signal chain and i still can get dynamics when i dig deeper or if i turn my fuzz on! I can got from almost silence to full mayhem but without harsh peaks that hurt my ears. It's just a matter of using only the right amount of compression! Also, i find that my envelope filters sound way much better with compression after, thay responde better to the playing dynamics and the comp removes the super bright and harsh peaks (sorry for repeating myself). Cheers edit: and i can get volume boost when turning the fuzz on if i want to, i find that from all the comps i've tried the multicomp works best to get this.
I think the way you use yours is the most common way actually! I use mine first since I use very heavy compression, so i'd probably end up putting a lot of noise in my signal chain, as well as killing any potential level boosts if I did it the normal way Though I have considered using compression at the beginning AND the end of the chain before.. bad idea?
15. I've had a handful of people praising me for being able to pick quite fast with my fingers, and getting an aggressive attack sound with them. Often the same people have said that they 'only' play with a pick. So I guess pick playing is still seen as less challenging. I usually tell them I can't play with a pick to save my life
16.
Hmm... possibly...
You know how to reach me if you're tempted
17. You git!! I've got that 8 ohm Markbass 104HF to trade some time in the next month or two if thats of any interest?
18. I always use my comp first in the chain, so that stomping on any gain based pedals can give me a level boost if i feel the need to set them that way:)
19. Peavey Millenium? They look cool, have passive electronics and jazz pickups so youll get a nice aggressive clank quite easily, and they go for about £225 new!
20. The best bass for metal is whatever gives you your sound. And if its important to you, whichever you as a metal player think looks coolest on stage! Obviously certain instruments are made to look the part, and built with high output electronics to make it easier to get the right sound... But you could probably get away with anything within reason! I've seen Ziltoid The Omniscient rocking a pink Hello Kitty guitar
21.
the best bass for metal?
That may well be! But what's the best metal for basses???
22. It doesn't have metering, but the Aguilar TLC is a 4 knob compressor and works amazingly!
23. This is a great setup! I used to gig with just the combo on its own tilted up in 'monitor position'
24. I've got one of the 6 string Grinds too, and I've played one of the newer Chinese made ones with a black finish. Love these basses! The newer ones are practically identical in playability, but have a much clearer and deeper sound if I remember rightly. I've played practically every type of bass there is, from the most knackered Squier, up to vintage Fenders, Stingrays, Warwicks etc, and nothing has ever felt as 'right' as my three Peaveys. So they're the only basses I own! (i'm after a few more too!) Enjoy yours dude!
