1. Hello, good evening and welcome! Glad to hear that you've seen the light and come down an octave ;-)
2. Did you hear that award-winning athletes from Oxford and Cambridge are no longer admitted at this pub http://www.tripadvis...e_England.html? That's right, the Jug banned blues.
3. Which bass is best for Meddle?
4. A big mob of people burst into my kitchen and cleaned the oven. I had my hob scoured by crowds.
5. Some people here Gnome ore about the Floyd than I do.
6. All cows eat grass, dude, all cows eat grass.
7.
"Another one they like is when I play a short phrase on my bass without them looking, and then they have to reproduce the phrase on their bass and also tell me in what key it is." Not sure I get this? What if you don't use all 7 notes in a phrase? E.g the notes FAC could be in a few keys - F maj, C maj, Bb maj
It's ambiguous even with 7 notes (major/relative minor). But usually there's an implicit key - and if there's no consensus on what that is, then that makes for an interesting and hopefully illuminating discussion!
8. This is the elusive lightweight sexy P/J you've been looking for! Black with dark red pearloid scratchplate. From what I can tell these were produced in the late 90s as the "premium" Squier model. Features include a high-mass bridge and a matching headstock. Classic P/J with J-style neck. Made in Korea. Very good condition, with a couple of small dings on the body (see photos). The shaft of the tone pot appears to to be very slightly askew, as the knob has a slightly eccentric movement. However it moves smoothly and functions as Leo intended (as do the volume knobs). Weight approx. 3.8kg Nut width 38mm Fretboard radius approx, 300mm I’d much prefer to avoid couriers: I’m in Bromley (SE London/Kent), work in Central London (Chancery Lane), and am a regular visitor to Tonbridge, Kent, so would ideally meet a buyer in or near one of those places. Trades: would consider trades or part-trades against - a passive fretted 5-string - a passive or active fretless 5-string - a (Kala?) U-Bass - a baritone ukelele

10.
I seem to remember an interview with Ronnie Van Zant where he said that the point of the song was to defend Alabama and say that you could not blame all southerners for the Guvenor of Birmingham any more than you could blame Yankees for Nixon!
That actually makes sense, it's saying that the North and the South both have their rogues: In Birmingham they love the governor, boo boo boo Now we all did what we could do Now Watergate does not bother me Does your conscience bother you? 11.
Yes. I drape it over my shoulder to avoid any unpleasantries.
I hope we're still talking about your hair...
12. One of our band members likes to drink lager while leaping across the gravel leading up to our garage. He's into Stella over drive.
13. Even if it's not about heroin, it's still pretty dark: you made me forget myself, I thought I was someone else, someone good...

15.
I'm really grateful for all these replies but something has just caught my eye, the TC Electronic BG250 combos. They have a 250w 15" combo that's only a few kg heavier than this Markbass and it's only £300. So is there are catch or something? :S
Just been reading this thread as I'm having similar thoughts. I currently have a TC rig, Classic 450 into BC210, which is great for the pub covers band. I'm looking for something smaller, with a one-hand carry, to take to things like pit-band gigs. The MB 121P seems the obvious choice, but the TC BG250 112 also caught my eye, as I'm already a TC fan and it's much more wallet-friendly than the MB. As mentioned, the BG250 doesn't appear to support an extension cab. Although I like the idea of a little combo that can be extended as needed, when needed I'd probably prefer to take just one bigger cab than two smaller ones! With my current setup I can just about do a single-trip get-in, with the aid of a trolley... but then the MB + a second 1x12 could probably sit on the trolley... /thinking aloud /ramble over
16. My Floyd tribute band has several bass players on a rota. I'm waiting for One of My Turns.
17.
Me Mum popped over last week and I was preparing a salad. She said 'what's that red thing'. I said 'It's a tomato, mother'. 18. In my Floyd tribute band, we were playing the whole of Dark Side. I got some funny looks when I kicked off side 2 when the rest of the band were only halfway through side 1. Ah well, time is money....
19. There are some things that every Pink Floyd tribute band needs to know. Unfortunately I'm unable to share these things, having been sworn to silence by a man who visited me in a UFO. They're a saucer-fellow secrets.
20.
Too many Pink Floyd bands? And I just saw a pig on the wing..
I've seen three different ones...
21. I used to be in Floyd tribute, but the bandleader treated us like Animals.
22. With the right bass player, and the right bass... Another Prick on the Wal
23. As a contrast to the Ibby, how about a passive, wider-string-spaced fiver? These Squier VMs are excellent value: http://www.squierguitars.com/basses/precision-bass/vintage-modified-precision-bass-v-maple-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/
