  16. And yet.... it's a bit like Notepad vs Word. Word can do everything Notepad can, but for a simple edit on a text file it's usually simpler to fire up Notepad. Horses for courses, YMMV etc.

I think the SR705 just makes your budget Passive: Squier VM P5 (massive value at not much over £200). Yamaha BB425 or BB1025.
