Exactly. Buy for a quid and sell for 2. Vat goes on top.
I think the easiest explanation though is - if you're not registered for Vat then stop worrying about it as you don't have any options. You will be paying it and you will not be reclaiming it.
Charging vat if you are not registered is fraud.
Not charging vat when you are registered is stupid as you still have to pay the money to HMRC.
My little company is vat registered but it's nothing to do with music so while I reclaim my vat on the supplies I need I cannot buy music equipment on the company.
You get a note through the door or an email telling you it won't be delivered until you have paid the Vat and their admin fee.
After 6 weeks they will send it back if you haven't paid.
I must admit the thought had crossed my mind to get another 4 and rip out all the electronics and get a custom scratchplate and then put a nice MM type pickup in the right place.
Aguilar probably, with a 2 band EQ.
I mean, why not?
The J is bit underpowered and a bit too forward for that back pickup thing.
My 4 string is about to have some EMG-X series pickups installed in it though so I expect that to improve a fair bit.
Since the self inflicted stupidity Thomann prices are all exclusive of Vat.
It will either be charged in the checkout process by the vendor or it will charged on delivery by the courier. Partly depends on whether the vendor has registered with the U.K. government to collect vat for HMRC. Couriers will also charge you an admin fee.
HMRC seem to be particularly checking stuff from the EU so the chances of it sneaking through seem to be far lower than from other places.
There is a video showing a few models. The SC and the BB2 (and thus the Super Twin and the BT2) sound quite different in the low mids
You'll need good speakers though.

I have the Mezzo 5 and with the right strings it’s as good as my stingray 5. The stock 130 is a bit light though. 135 is better.
I have a 4 as well tuned to C standard and it’s also excellent.
Ibby website says 18mm string spacing at the bridge.
How much does it weigh please?
I really want one but with my issues I don't buy anything over 7.5lb anymore.
Stick an EQ pedal in the FX loop and use that to further bring the volume down while the master vol on the amp is still functional and not just cutting off.
