1. Hey guys! I'll be using the Coronado quite a bit this week. I'll be playing with Mike Marlin & The MeloManiacs supporting Lloyd Cole & The Leopards. I can probably put a name or two on the guest list apart for the London gig as I already have people coming on that day. On Wednesday we have a headlining gig in Glasgow and it's free! It would be great to see some Basschatters. Gimme a shout if you wanna come to a gig and I'll see what I can do. 2. I din't have any problems adapting and I never owned a short scale bass in more than 20 years playing.
 3.
Deceptive, because I would have guessed that didn't fit at all. Is that slightly pink and black or does my screen need adjusting?
I know! I came home from the shop annoyed that they didn't have a case for the Coronado. Much to my surprise it fitted perfectly in this gig bag. It doesn't fit the Fender gig bag in which my P Bass came in, so it won't fit in any electric bass gig bag. And it's not pink. It's beige and black.
 4.
I knew that really. Have you got a case? Soft or hard? Apparently Jack Casady case fits but £99
I've been using this gig bag from Thomann. Well padded and it fits like a glove. http://www.thomann.de/gb/mobile_prod.html?AR=243807
 5.
Once you get the crap rounds off, it's a completly different beast
Absolutely. Roundwounds are just wrong on this bass. Another full day in the studio rehearsing with mine today and it keeps making me and my bandmates smile
 6.
Hi, I've had one of these on order since September in 3 tone burst and Fender and the shop reckon It's coming next week. I play flats too and I'm interested in the fit of the status strings. Ideally I go for 45-105 and I hate wrapping any part of the "speaking" length of the string round a post. So if these fit bang on I'd probably go for them. Any and all advice gratefully received!
The 30" Status just about fit. A little bit of the black wrapping at the end of the strings were sitting on the nut slots, but I managed to rip it off a little and now the actual metal is in the slot. Not that I noticed any difference in sound, to be honest, but looking at bass like that was disturbing me. I believe that despite the 30" scale length 32" strings are a better fit for this bass because of the tail piece as discussed above.
 7. I used ashdown amps exclusively for a long time. Spyder 550 (still have one of the two I used to have) and ABM 500. Amazing sounding amps and I had no reliability problems whatsoever. My ABM was an Evo III and made in the UK. Don't let the made in China thing put you off. Both my Spyders were made in China and the built quality was excellent. I opened all of them a few times to change preamp valves and to give them a clean (dust accumulates on the fans) and the Chinese ones are just as tidy and well put together as the UK made one. Also, in my experience, Ashdown's customer service have always been brilliant. It never took then more than 24hrs to reply to my emails with any questions and most of the time the owner himself replied to them. I have deep respect for Ashdown but unfortunately also never got along with their cabs.
 8.
The bass looks absolute fantastic! I an considering trying one. Do you have any sound examples? What kind of music are you playing with it?
Some of the gigs I'm gonna play now in the end of the month will be filmed and properly recorded. Soon I'll have something with the bass in the context of a band. With this bass I'm playing mostly pop /folk / alternative vibes, if that makes any sense.
 9.
I guess then that other flatwounds that will probably fit then are either the Pyramid Gold Beatle Bass or La Bella Beatle Bass.
Thanks so much for the info. And that's why Basschat just rocks
 10.
OK, thanks. Would the 32" Thomastiks not fit well enough with this kind of tailpiece? I've used them on other 30" scale semi-acoustics.
And I think you're right about the 32" strings. The 30" ones are almost too short for this bass because of the tail piece.
 11.
I'm seriously thinking about getting a black Coronado and if so I'll probably try the 32" Thomastiks so I'll let you know.
Much appreciated mate. You'll love the bass! Cheers
 12.
OK, thanks. Would the 32" Thomastiks not fit well enough with this kind of tailpiece? I've used them on other 30" scale semi-acoustics.
I thought about it, but was scared to spend that 50 quid in case it wouldn't work. I might give it a try then. Thanks!
 13.
Which flats have you put on it?
I've been using Thomastik Jazz Flats on my P-Bass and I love their feel, sound and versatility. Unfortunately they don't make a 30 inch short scale version of them, so I put on some Status Flats on the Coronado. They work really well for the kinda sound I'm going for with this bass, so I'm very pleased.
 14.
Bum notes! Wouldn't be a gig without a few of those. I'll have to try one out now.
Do it! I've been playing mine all morning and still haven't been able to put it down.
 15. Thanks! The short scale was one of my fears too, but I think it adds a lot to the way the bass sounds and it wouldn't be the same with a long scale. I've been switching between the Coronado and my P-Bass and it doesn't take long for the brain and the hands to adjust. I did hit a couple of bum notes during the gig last night though, hehe.
 16. It does have a centre block and it's heavier than you would expect. Not that it's heavy, but when you see the f-holes you automatically expect it to be very lightweight, which it isn't. Another thing. I though I wouldn't adjust to the position of the strap button at the back of the neck, but to my surprise the bass just feels perfectly balanced with the button there. In fact, I never had a bass that felt so comfortable. It just embraces you
 17. Got this baby in the afternoon yesterday, took out the round wounds that came with it, put on some lovely flats, set it up, plugged it in to test it and took it straight to my gig. It sounds just as gorgeous as it looks. I'm impressed with how well put together and finished this bass is too. Made in China, but you would never guess it if it wasn't written in the back of the headsotck. i just can't put it down now Anyone out there looking for a great semi-acoustic should definitely give one of these a try. PS I took out the pick guard because it was getting in the way of palm muting with a pick. Feels perfect now and actually looks better too.
 18. Hi guys, I honestly never thought this day would come, but here it is. I'm selling my amazing sex machine of a bass cab. Due to some changes in my professional circumstances, my gorgeous Barefaced Super 12 needs a new home. It's almost 2 years old now and it's in excellent condition. It's the silver cloth version and it has no tweeter (never understood the need for them). The only gripe I ever had about this cab was the handles with the rubber finish coming off, that well known issue. I'm happy to report that a couple of months ago Alex himself did the upgrade for the Gen 3 handles for me and the cab is now perfect! The new handles work and look brilliant. Please check the pictures. I even included one with the cab in the boot of my mighty Fiat Seicento. Yes, it fits in there. Price is £600 and it comes with a Rocksolid cover. The cover is a little worn out, but it still protects the cab perfectly well. Please, please don't make me post this. I prefer collection, or we can meet somewhere half way and save me the hassle of dealing with cardboard, bubble wrap and gaffer tape. Cheers, Eddie
 19.
The marketed is blanketed with super loud cabs and super full range cabs. Carve a niche by offering 'old-cab' sound in a tiny, lightweight package. Something midget-sized but 810e/nv610/k140 sounding please.
Exactly!
 20.
So do we conclude that if you want to stand out and be heard you will use a Stingray and if you want to sit in the mix you will use a P?
Well... It's pretty easy to make a P growl and stand out in the mix, even without changing eq settings. Just play harder or really dig in with a pic. I have the impression that it's harder to tame a Stingray... Therefore I agree with the basschatters above who think the P is a more versatile bass. It can't be a coincidence that it features in so many records and it's played by such diverse players. I still want to give a Stingray a proper try though...
 21. I always played P Basses all my life. Had a Jazz for a while and it was an amazing one too, but it never sat on the mix as nice as the P Bass for me and I sold it. That's why I think the Precision is such a popular bass in records through the years. It pretty much automatically sits where the bass should in a mix. I never owned a Stingray but lately I've been feeling tempted to get one, mainly because of Bernard Edwards. I think the Stingray doesn't 'sit' so much in a mix and it stands out a bit more due to those high mids. Having said all that... You should try and get both
 22. The only time I ever broke strings in my life was when I switched to a different brand to the one I've been using for a while. You might have a faulty set, it happens... But could also be that your truss rod needed some tweaking to accommodate the new strings. As far as I remember, every time I used different strings from the ones I had on the bass before I had to do at least a minor set up.

 24. I had my pedal board swabbed and sniffed by a dog at different occasions apart from obviously putting it through the x-ray machine. As long as you didn't have your fingers in anything illegal while packing your pedals, you'll be fine...
